[Ének fölmenetelkor. Salamontól.] Ha az ÚR nem építi a házat, hiába dolgoznak azon építői. Ha az ÚR nem őrzi a várost, hiába vigyáz az őriző.

Grádicsok éneke Salamontól. Ha az Úr nem építi a házat, hiába dolgoznak azon annak építői. Ha az Úr nem őrzi a várost, hiába vigyáz az őriző.

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Dacă nu zideşte Domnul o casă, degeaba lucrează cei ce o zidesc; dacă nu păzeşte Domnul o cetate, degeaba veghează cel ce o păzeşte.

Hiába korán fölkelnetek, későn feküdnötök, fáradsággal szerzett kenyeret ennetek! Annak, akit ő szeret, álmában ad eleget.

Hiába néktek korán felkelnetek, későn feküdnötök, fáradsággal szerzett kenyeret ennetek! Szerelmesének álmában ád eleget.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Degeaba vă sculaţi de dimineaţă şi vă culcaţi târziu, ca să mâncaţi o pâine câştigată cu durere; căci preaiubiţilor Lui El le dă pâine ca în somn.

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Íme, az ÚR öröksége a fiak, és az anyaméh gyümölcse: jutalom.

Ímé, az Úrnak öröksége, a fiak; az anyaméh gyümölcse: jutalom.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Iată, fiii sunt o moştenire de la Domnul, rodul pântecelui este o răsplată dată de El.

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.

Mint a hős kezében a nyilak, olyanok a serdülő ifjak.

Mint a nyilak a hősnek kezében, olyanok a serdülő fiak.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Ca săgeţile în mâna unui războinic aşa sunt fiii făcuţi la tinereţe.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.

Boldog ember az, aki ilyenekkel tölti meg tegzét. Nem szégyenülnek meg, ha ellenséggel szólnak a kapuban.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Ferice de omul care îşi umple tolba de săgeţi cu ei! Căci ei nu vor rămâne de ruşine când vor vorbi cu vrăjmaşii lor la poartă.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.
