Jób azután így folytatta beszédét:

Jób pedig folytatá az ő beszédét, és monda:

Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

Iov a luat din nou cuvântul în pilde şi a zis:

And Job again took up his discourse, and said:

Ó, bárcsak olyan volnék, mint a hajdani hónapokban, mint azokban a napokban, amikor Isten őrzött engem!

Oh, vajha olyan volnék, mint a hajdani hónapokban, a mikor Isten őrzött engem!

Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

„Oh! cum nu pot să fiu ca în lunile trecute, ca în zilele când mă păzea Dumnezeu,

“Oh, that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me,

Amikor mécsese világított fejem fölött, és a sötétben is járni tudtam világánál;

Mikor az ő szövétneke fénylett fejem fölött, [s] világánál jártam a setétet;

When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

când candela Lui strălucea deasupra capului meu şi lumina Lui mă călăuzea în întuneric!

when his lamp shone upon my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,

mint amilyen javakoromban voltam, amikor Isten meghitt barátsága borult sátramra!

A mint java-korom napjaiban valék, a mikor Isten gondossága borult sátoromra!

As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

Cum nu sunt ca în zilele puterii mele, când Dumnezeu veghea ca un prieten peste cortul meu,

as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was upon my tent,

Amikor még velem volt a Mindenható, és körülöttem voltak gyermekeim.

Mikor még a Mindenható velem volt, [és] körültem voltak gyermekeim;

When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

când Cel Atotputernic încă era cu mine şi când copiii mei stăteau în jurul meu;

when the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were all around me,

Amikor lábamat édes tejben mostam, és mellettem a szikla is olajpatakokat ontott.

Mikor lábaimat [édes] tejben mostam, és mellettem a szikla olajpatakokat ontott;

When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

când mi se scăldau paşii în smântână, şi stânca vărsa lângă mine pâraie de untdelemn!

when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out for me streams of oil!

Amikor a városkapuhoz mentem, és a köztéren elfoglaltam helyem.

Mikor a kapuhoz mentem, fel a városon; a köztéren székemet fölállítám:

When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

Dacă ieşeam să mă duc la poarta cetăţii şi dacă îmi pregăteam un scaun în piaţă,

When I went out to the gate of the city, when I prepared my seat in the square,

Ha megláttak az ifjak, félrehúzódtak, az öregek pedig fölkeltek, és állva maradtak.

The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

tinerii se trăgeau înapoi la apropierea mea, bătrânii se sculau şi stăteau în picioare.

A főemberek hangja elnémult, és nyelvük az ínyükhöz tapadt.

A főemberek szava elnémult, és nyelvök az ínyökhöz ragadt.

The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

Glasul căpeteniilor tăcea şi li se lipea limba de cerul gurii.

the voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.

Mert amely fül hallott, boldognak mondott engem, és amely szem látott, bizonyságot tett felőlem.

When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

Urechea care mă auzea, mă numea fericit, ochiul care mă vedea mă lăuda.

When the ear heard, it called me blessed, and when the eye saw, it approved,

Mert megmentettem a segítségért kiáltó szegényt és az árvát, akinek nem volt támasza.

Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

A veszni induló áldása rám szállt, az özvegyek szívét megörvendeztettem.

The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

Igazságot öltöttem magamra, és az is magára öltött engem. Jogosság volt palástom és süvegem.

Az igazságot magamra öltém és az is magára ölte engem; palást és süveg gyanánt volt az én ítéletem.

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

Mă îmbrăcam cu dreptatea şi-i slujeam de îmbrăcăminte, neprihănirea îmi era manta şi turban.

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban.

Szeme voltam a vaknak és lába a sántának.

A vaknak én szeme valék, és a sántának lába.

I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

Orbului îi eram ochi, şi şchiopului picior.

I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame.

Atyja voltam a szűkölködőnek, és az ismeretlen ember ügyét is megfontoltam.

A szűkölködőknek én atyjok valék, az ismeretlennek ügyét is jól meghányám-vetém.

I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

Celor nenorociţi le eram tată şi cercetam pricina celui necunoscut.

I was a father to the needy, and I searched out the cause of him whom I did not know.

Kitördeltem az álnok fogait, és kiütöttem fogai közül a prédát.

Az álnoknak zápfogait kitördösém, és fogai közül a prédát kiütém vala.

And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Rupeam falca celui nedrept şi-i smulgeam prada din dinţi.

I broke the fangs of the unrighteous and made him drop his prey from his teeth.

Ezért azt gondoltam: fészkemben halok meg, és megsokasodnak napjaim, mint a homok.

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

Gyökerem a vízig nyúlik, és ágamon ül meg a harmat.

Gyökerem a víznek nyitva lesz, és ágamon hál meg a harmat.

My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

Apa va pătrunde în rădăcinile mele, roua va sta toată noaptea peste ramurile mele.

my roots spread out to the waters, with the dew all night on my branches,

Dicsőségem velem együtt újul meg, és íjam is megifjodik kezemben.

Dicsőségem megújul velem, és kézívem erősebbé lesz kezemben.

My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

Slava mea va înverzi neîncetat, şi arcul îmi va întineri în mână.”

my glory fresh with me, and my bow ever new in my hand.’

Hallgattak és figyeltek rám, és elnémultak a tanácsomra.

Hallgattak és figyeltek reám, és elnémultak az én tanácsomra.

Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

Oamenii mă ascultau şi aşteptau, tăceau înaintea sfaturilor mele.

“Men listened to me and waited and kept silence for my counsel.

Szavaim után nem szóltak többet, beszédem harmatként hullt rájuk.

Az én szavaim után nem szóltak többet, [s harmatként] hullt []rájok beszédem.

After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

După cuvântările mele, niciunul nu răspundea, şi cuvântul meu era pentru toţi o rouă binefăcătoare.

After I spoke they did not speak again, and my word dropped upon them.

Úgy vártak rám, mint az esőre, és szájukat tátották, mint mikor tavaszi záporra vágynak.

Mint az esőre, úgy vártak rám, és szájukat tátották, mint tavaszi záporra.

And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

Mă aşteptau ca pe ploaie, căscau gura ca după ploaia de primăvară.

They waited for me as for the rain, and they opened their mouths as for the spring rain.

Rájuk mosolyogtam, ha elcsüggedtek, és arcom derűjére nem komorodtak el.

Ha rájok mosolyogtam, nem bizakodtak el, és arczom derüjét nem sötétíték be.

If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

Când li se muia inima, le zâmbeam şi nu puteau izgoni seninătatea de pe fruntea mea.

I smiled on them when they had no confidence, and the light of my face they did not cast down.

Szívesen jelöltem ki útjukat, a főhelyen ültem, és úgy laktam közöttük, mint király a hadseregben, mint aki bánkódókat vigasztal.

[Örömest] választottam útjokat, mint főember ültem [ott;] úgy laktam [ott,] mint király a hadseregben, mint a ki bánkódókat vigasztal.

I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.

Îmi plăcea să mă duc la ei şi mă aşezam în fruntea lor; eram ca un împărat în mijlocul unei oştiri, ca un mângâietor lângă nişte întristaţi.

I chose their way and sat as chief, and I lived like a king among his troops, like one who comforts mourners.
