Ezután megnyitotta Jób a száját, és megátkozta születése napját.

After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

După aceea, Iov a deschis gura şi a blestemat ziua în care s-a născut.

After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.

Ezt mondta Jób:

És szóla Jób, és monda:

Vesszen el az a nap, amelyen születtem, és az az éjszaka, amelyen azt mondták, fiú fogantatott.

Veszszen el az a nap, a melyen születtem, és az az éjszaka, a melyen azt mondták: fiú fogantatott.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

„Blestemată să fie ziua în care m-am născut şi noaptea care a zis: „S-a zămislit un copil de parte bărbătească.”

“Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived.’

Legyen sötét az a nap, ne törődjék azzal Isten ott fent, fényesség se ragyogjon azon.

Az a nap legyen sötétség, ne törődjék azzal az Isten onnét felül, és világosság ne fényljék azon.

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Prefacă-se în întuneric ziua aceea, să nu Se îngrijească Dumnezeu de ea din cer şi să nu mai strălucească lumina peste ea!

Let that day be darkness! May God above not seek it, nor light shine upon it.

Tartsa fogva azt a sötétség és a halál árnyéka; a felhő lakozzék rajta, nappali sötétség tegye rettenetessé.

Tartsa azt fogva sötétség és a halál árnyéka; [a] felhő lakozzék rajta, nappali borulatok tegyék rettenetessé.

Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

S-o cuprindă întunericul şi umbra morţii, nori groşi să vină peste ea, şi neguri de peste zi s-o înspăimânte!

Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Sűrű sötétség borítsa be azt az éjt! Ne sorolják azt az év napjaihoz, ne számlálják a hónapokhoz.

Az az éjszaka! Sűrű sötétség fogja be azt; ne soroztassék az az esztendőnek napjaihoz, ne számláltassék a hónapokhoz.

As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Noaptea aceea! S-o acopere întunericul, să piară din an, să nu mai fie numărată între luni!

That night—let thick darkness seize it! Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months.

Legyen meddő az az éjszaka, ne legyen akkor örvendezés.

Az az éjszaka! Legyen az magtalan, ne legyen örvendezés azon.

Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

Da, stearpă să fie noaptea aceea, ducă-se veselia din ea!

Behold, let that night be barren; let no joyful cry enter it.

Átkozzák meg azt azok, akik a nappalt átkozzák, akik bátrak felingerelni a leviátánt.

Átkozzák meg azt, a kik a nappalt átkozzák, a kik bátrak felingerelni a leviathánt.

Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Blestemată să fie de cei ce blestemă zilele, de cei ce ştiu să întărâte Leviatanul;

Let those curse it who curse the day, who are ready to rouse up Leviathan.

Sötétüljenek el estéjének csillagai. Hiába várja a világosságot, és ne lássa a hajnalpírt!

Sötétüljenek el az ő estvéjének csillagai; várja a világosságot, de az ne legyen, és ne lássa a hajnalnak pirját!

Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

să se întunece stelele din amurgul ei, în zadar să aştepte lumina şi să nu mai vadă genele zorilor zilei!

Let the stars of its dawn be dark; let it hope for light, but have none, nor see the eyelids of the morning,

Mert nem zárta be anyám méhének ajtaját, és nem rejtette el szemem elől a nyomorúságot.

Mert nem zárta be az én anyám méhének ajtait, és nem rejtette el szemeim elől a nyomorúságot.

Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

Căci n-a închis pântecele care m-a zămislit, nici n-a ascuns suferinţa dinaintea ochilor mei.

because it did not shut the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hide trouble from my eyes.

Miért is nem haltam meg születésemkor; miért nem múltam ki, mihelyt kijöttem az anyaméhből?

Mért is nem haltam meg fogantatásomkor; mért is ki nem multam, mihelyt megszülettem?

Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

De ce n-am murit în pântecele mamei mele? De ce nu mi-am dat sufletul la ieşirea din pântecele ei?

“Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire?

Miért vettek föl engem térdre és emlőkre, hogy szopjak?

Mért vettek fel engem térdre, és mért az emlőkre, hogy szopjam?!

Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

De ce am găsit genunchi care să mă primească? Şi ţâţe care să-mi dea lapte?

Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse?

Most feküdhetnék, és nyugalmam volna, aludnék, és akkor nyugton pihenhetnék

Mert most feküdném és nyugodnám, aludnám és akkor nyugton pihenhetnék -

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

Acum aş fi culcat, aş fi liniştit, aş dormi şi m-aş odihni

For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,

a föld királyaival és tanácsosaival, akik kőhalmokat építettek maguknak,

Királyokkal és az ország tanácsosaival, a kik magoknak kőhalmokat építenek.

With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;

cu împăraţii şi cei mari de pe pământ, care şi-au zidit falnice morminte,

with kings and counselors of the earth who rebuilt ruins for themselves,

vagy a fejedelmekkel, akiknek aranyuk van, akik ezüsttel töltik meg házaikat.

Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

Miért nem lettem olyan, mint az elásott, elvetélt magzat, mint a világosságot sem látott kisdedek?

Vagy mért nem lettem olyan, mint az elásott, idétlen gyermek, mint a világosságot sem látott kisdedek?

Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

Sau n-aş mai fi în viaţă, aş fi ca o stârpitură îngropată, ca nişte copii care n-au văzut lumina!

Or why was I not as a hidden stillborn child, as infants who never see the light?

Ott megszűnik a gonoszok fenyegetése, és ott megnyugszanak mind, akiknek ellankadt az erejük.

Ott a gonoszok megszünnek a fenyegetéstől, és ott megnyugosznak, a kiknek erejök ellankadt.

There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

Acolo nu te mai necăjesc cei răi, acolo se odihnesc cei sleiţi de puteri.

A foglyok ott mind nyugalmat lelnek, nem hallják szorongatóik hangját.

A foglyok ott mind megnyugosznak, nem hallják a szorongatónak szavát.

There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

Acolo cei puşi în lanţuri sunt lăsaţi toţi în pace, nu mai aud glasul asupritorului;

There the prisoners are at ease together; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster.

Egyenlő ott kicsiny és nagy, és a szolga szabad az urától.

Kicsiny és nagy ott [egyenlő,] és a szolga az ő urától szabad.

The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

cel mic şi cel mare sunt totuna acolo, şi robul scapă de stăpânul său.

The small and the great are there, and the slave is free from his master.

Miért is ad Isten világosságot a nyomorultnak, és életet a keseredett szívűeknek,

Mért is ad [Isten] a nyomorultnak világosságot, és életet a keseredett szivűeknek?

Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

care n-ar mai putea de bucurie şi de veselie, dacă ar găsi mormântul? –

vagy a férfinak, aki útvesztőbe jutott, és akit Isten körbekerített?

A férfiúnak, a ki útvesztőbe jutott, és a kit az Isten bekerített köröskörül.

Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

Pentru ce, zic, dă El lumină omului care nu ştie încotro să meargă, pe care îl îngrădeşte Dumnezeu din toate părţile?

Mert kenyerem gyanánt van sóhajtozásom, és kiáltásaim ömlenek, mint a habok.

For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

Suspinele îmi sunt hrana de toate zilele, şi jalea mi se varsă ca apa.

For my sighing comes instead of my bread, and my groanings are poured out like water.

Mert amitől nagyon rettegtem, az szakadt rám, és amitől féltem, az esett meg velem.

Mert a mitől remegve remegtem, az jöve reám, és a mitől rettegtem, az esék rajtam.

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

De ce mă tem, aceea mi se întâmplă; de ce mi-e frică, de aceea am parte!

For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.

Nincs békességem, sem nyugtom, sem pihenésem, mert nyugtalanság jön rám.

Nincs békességem, sem nyugtom, sem pihenésem, mert nyomorúság támadt reám.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

N-am nici linişte, nici pace, nici odihnă, şi necazul dă peste mine.”

I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes.”
