Te ejtesz-e zsákmányt a nőstény oroszlánnak, és kielégítheted-e az oroszlánkölykök éhségét,

Vadászol-é prédát a nőstény oroszlánnak, és az oroszlánkölykök éhségét kielégíted-é;

Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?

“Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you observe the calving of the does?

Ki szerez eledelt a hollónak, amikor fiókái Istenhez kiáltoznak, s kóvályognak, mert nincs mit enniük?

Ki szerez a hollónak eledelt, mikor a fiai Istenhez kiáltoznak; kóvályognak, mert nincs mit enniök?

They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.

Ele se pleacă, fată puii şi scapă iute de durerile lor.

when they crouch, bring forth their offspring, and are delivered of their young?

Tudod-e a kőszáli zergék ellésének idejét; megfigyelted-e, mikor borjaznak a szarvasok?

Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.

Puii lor prind vlagă şi cresc sub cerul slobod, pleacă şi nu se mai întorc la ele.

Their young ones become strong; they grow up in the open; they go out and do not return to them.

Megszámláltad-e a hónapokat, hogy meddig vemhesek, tudod-e ellésük idejét?

Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?

Cine a lăsat slobod măgarul sălbatic, izbăvindu-l de orice legătură?

“Who has let the wild donkey go free? Who has loosed the bonds of the swift donkey,

Csak összegörnyednek, és már megellettek, vajúdásuktól megszabadultak.

He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.

El râde de zarva cetăţilor şi n-aude strigătele stăpânului, care-l mână.

He scorns the tumult of the city; he hears not the shouts of the driver.

A pusztát rendeltem otthonukká, a szikes földet lakóhelyükké.

A melynek házául a pusztát rendelém, és lakóhelyéül a sósföldet?

Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

Vrea bivolul sălbatic să fie în slujba ta? Şi stă el noaptea la ieslea ta?

“Is the wild ox willing to serve you? Will he spend the night at your manger?

Kineveti a városi sokadalmat, nem hallja a hajcsár kiáltozását.

Kineveti a városbeli sokadalmat, nem hallja a hajtsár kiáltozását.

Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

Îl poţi lega tu cu o funie, ca să tragă o brazdă? Merge el după tine, ca să grăpeze bulgării din văi?

Can you bind him in the furrow with ropes, or will he harrow the valleys after you?

Fölkeresi a hegyi legelőket, fölkutat minden zöld növényt.

A hegyeken szedeget, az ő legelőjén mindenféle zöld [gazt] felkeres.

Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

Te încrezi tu în el, pentru că puterea lui este mare? Şi-i laşi tu grija lucrărilor tale?

Will you depend on him because his strength is great, and will you leave to him your labor?

Akar-e szolgálni neked a bölény? Ott hál-e jászladnál?

Akar-é szolgálni néked a bölény? Avagy meghál-é a te jászolodnál?

Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?

Te laşi tu pe el, pentru căratul roadelor tale, ca să le strângă în aria ta?

Do you have faith in him that he will return your grain and gather it to your threshing floor?

Barázdába foghatod-e a bölényt a kötelénél fogva? Vajon boronálja-e utánad a göröngyöket?

Oda kötheted a bölényt a barázdához kötelénél fogva? Vajjon boronálja-é a völgyeket utánad?

Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

Aripa struţului bate cu veselie, de-ai zice că este aripa şi penişul berzei.

“The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the pinions and plumage of love?

Bízhatsz-e benne, mivel nagy az ereje, és ráhagyhatod-e a munkát?

Bízhatol-é benne, mivelhogy nagy az ereje, és munkádat hagyhatod-é reá?

Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,

Dar struţoaica îşi încredinţează pământului ouăle şi le lasă să se încălzească în nisip.

For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them be warmed on the ground,

Elhiszed-e róla, hogy behordja gabonád és betakarítja szérűdre?

Hiszed-é róla, hogy vetésedet behordja, és szérűdre betakarítja?

And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

Ea uită că piciorul le poate strivi, că o fiară de câmp le poate călca în picioare.

Vígan verdesi szárnyát a strucc; de nem gólyaszárny és toll az!

Vígan [leng] a struczmadár szárnya: vajjon az eszterág szárnya és tollazata-é az?

She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;

Este aspră cu puii săi de parcă nici n-ar fi ai ei. Că s-a trudit degeaba, nu-i pasă nicidecum!

She deals cruelly with her young, as if they were not hers; though her labor be in vain, yet she has no fear,

Hiszen a földön hagyja tojásait, és a porral költeti ki!

Hiszen a földön hagyja tojásait, és a porral költeti ki!

Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

Căci Dumnezeu nu i-a dat înţelepciune şi nu i-a făcut parte de pricepere.

because God has made her forget wisdom and given her no share in understanding.

Elfelejti, hogy a láb eltiporhatja, és a mezei vad eltaposhatja azokat.

És elfeledi, hogy a láb eltiporhatja, és a mezei vad eltaposhatja azokat.

What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

Când se scoală şi porneşte, râde de cal şi de călăreţul lui.

When she rouses herself to flee, she laughs at the horse and his rider.

Fiaival olyan keményen bánik, mintha nem is az övéi lennének. Nem fél, hogy fáradsága kárba vész.

Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

Tu dai putere calului, şi-i îmbraci gâtul cu o coamă ce fâlfâie?

“Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane?

Mert Isten nem ruházta fel bölcsességgel, nem adott neki értelmet.

Mert Isten a bölcseséget elfeledtette vele, értelmet pedig nem adott néki.

Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

Tu-l faci să sară ca lăcusta? Nechezatul lui puternic răspândeşte groaza.

Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrifying.

De hogyha nekiindul, kineveti a lovat és lovasát.

De hogyha néki ereszkedik, kineveti a lovat és lovagját.

He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.

Scurmă pământul şi, mândru de puterea lui, se aruncă asupra celor înarmaţi;

He paws in the valley and exults in his strength; he goes out to meet the weapons.

Vajon te adsz erőt a lónak, nyakát te ruházod föl sörénnyel?

Te adsz-é erőt a lónak, avagy a nyakát sörénynyel te ruházod-é fel?

He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.

îşi bate joc de frică, nu se teme şi nu se dă înapoi dinaintea sabiei.

He laughs at fear and is not dismayed; he does not turn back from the sword.

Felugraszthatod-e, mint egy szöcskét? Büszke horkantása félelmetes!

Felugraszthatod-é, mint a sáskát? Tüsszögése dicső, félelmetes!

The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.

Zăngăneşte tolba cu săgeţi pe el, suliţa şi lancea strălucesc,

Upon him rattle the quiver, the flashing spear, and the javelin.

Patája gödröt ás, örvend erejének, nekirohan a fegyvernek.

[Lábai] vermet ásnak, örvend erejének, a fegyver elé rohan.

He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.

fierbe de aprindere, mănâncă pământul, n-are astâmpăr când răsună trâmbiţa.

With fierceness and rage he swallows the ground; he cannot stand still at the sound of the trumpet.

Neveti a félelmet, nem remeg: nem fordul vissza a fegyver elől.

Neveti a félelmet; nem remeg, nem fordul meg a fegyver elől;

He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

La sunetul trâmbiţei parcă zice: „Înainte!” De departe miroase bătălia, glasul ca de tunet al căpeteniilor şi strigătele de luptă.

When the trumpet sounds, he says ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle from afar, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

Csörög rajta a tegez, ragyog a lándzsa és a kopja.

Csörög rajta a tegez, ragyog a kopja és a dárda:

Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

Oare prin priceperea ta îşi ia uliul zborul şi îşi întinde aripile spre miazăzi?

“Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars and spreads his wings toward the south?

Tombolva, reszketve kapálja a földet, és nem marad veszteg, ha fölzeng a kürt.

Tombolva, nyihogva kapálja a földet, és nem áll veszteg, ha trombita zeng.

Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?

Oare din porunca ta se înalţă vulturul şi îşi aşază cuibul pe înălţimi?

Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high?

A kürtszóra nyerítéssel felel; messziről megneszeli a harcot, a vezérek lármáját és a csatazajt.

A trombitaszóra nyerítéssel felel; messziről megneszeli az ütközetet, a vezérek lármáját és a csatazajt.

She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

El locuieşte în stânci, acolo îşi are locuinţa, pe vârful zimţat al stâncilor şi pe vârful munţilor.

On the rock he dwells and makes his home, on the rocky crag and stronghold.

A te értelmed műve az, hogy az ölyv repül, és kiterjeszti szárnyait dél felé?

A te értelmed miatt van-é, hogy az ölyv repül, [és] kiterjeszti szárnyait dél felé?

From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.

De acolo descoperă el prada şi îşi cufundă privirile în depărtare după ea.

From there he spies out the prey; his eyes behold it from far away.

A te parancsodra száll-e fent a sas, és rakja magasba a fészkét?

A te rendelésedre száll-é fent a sas, és rakja-é fészkét a magasban?

Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

Puii lui îi beau sângele; şi acolo unde sunt hoituri, acolo-i şi vulturul.”

His young ones suck up blood, and where the slain are, there is he.”

Kősziklán lakik, és ott tanyázik a sziklák párkányain és a bérceken.

[A kősziklán lakik és tanyázik, a sziklák párkányain és bércztetőkön.]

Onnan kémlel ennivaló után, messzire ellát a szeme.

[Onnét kémlel enni való után, messzire ellátnak szemei.]

Fiókái vért szívnak, és ahol csak dög van, mindjárt ott terem.

[Fiai vért szívnak, és a hol dög van, mindjárt ott [terem.]]

Ezután ezt mondta az ÚR Jóbnak:

[Szóla továbbá az Úr Jóbnak, és monda:]

Aki perbe száll a Mindenhatóval, cáfolja meg őt, és aki Istennel vitatkozik, feleljen neki!

[A ki pert kezd a Mindenhatóval, czáfolja meg, és a ki az Istennel feddődik, feleljen néki!]

Erre Jób így szólt az ÚRnak:

[És szóla Jób az Úrnak, és monda:]

Íme, könnyelmű voltam, mit felelhetnék neked? Kezemet a számra teszem.

[Ímé, én parányi vagyok, mit feleljek néked? Kezemet a szájamra teszem.]

38

Egyszer szóltam, de már nem szólok; vagy ha kétszer, nem teszem többé!

[Egyszer szóltam, de már nem szólok, avagy kétszer, de nem teszem többé!]
