Jól hallgassátok meg beszédemet, és ez legyen vigasztalásotok.

Jól hallgassátok meg az én beszédemet, és legyen ez a ti vigasztalástok [helyett.]

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

„Ascultaţi, ascultaţi cuvintele mele, daţi-mi măcar această mângâiere.

“Keep listening to my words, and let this be your comfort.

Szenvedjetek el engem, amíg szólok, azután kigúnyolhatjátok beszédemet.

Szenvedjetek el engem, a míg szólok, azután gúnyoljátok ki beszédemet.

Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

Lăsaţi-mă să vorbesc, vă rog; şi, după ce voi vorbi, veţi putea să vă bateţi joc.

Bear with me, and I will speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.

Hát embernek panaszkodom-e? Miért ne volna keserű a lelkem?

Avagy én embernek panaszolkodom-é? Miért ne volna hát keserű a lelkem?

As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

Oare împotriva unui om se îndreaptă plângerea mea? Şi pentru ce n-aş fi nerăbdător?

As for me, is my complaint against man? Why should I not be impatient?

Tekintsetek rám, álmélkodjatok, és tegyétek a szátokra kezeteket.

Tekintsetek reám és álmélkodjatok el, és tegyétek kezeteket szátokra.

Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

Priviţi-mă, miraţi-vă şi puneţi mâna la gură.

Look at me and be appalled, and lay your hand over your mouth.

Ha rágondolok, megrendülök, és reszketés fogja el a testem.

Ha visszaemlékezem, mindjárt felháborodom, és reszketés fogja el testemet.

Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

Când mă gândesc, mă înspăimânt, şi un tremur îmi apucă tot trupul:

When I remember, I am dismayed, and shuddering seizes my flesh.

Mi az oka, hogy életben maradnak a gonoszok, vénségükig élnek, sőt egyre hatalmasabbak?

Mi az oka, hogy a gonoszok élnek, vénséget érnek, sőt még meg is gyarapodnak?

Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

Pentru ce trăiesc cei răi? Pentru ce îi vezi îmbătrânind şi sporind în putere?

Why do the wicked live, reach old age, and grow mighty in power?

Gyermekeik előttük válnak jómódúvá, utódaik a szemük láttára.

Az ő magvok előttök nő fel ő velök, és az ő sarjadékuk szemeik előtt.

Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

Sămânţa lor se întăreşte cu ei şi în faţa lor, odraslele lor propăşesc sub ochii lor.

Their offspring are established in their presence, and their descendants before their eyes.

Házukban békességben vannak a félelemtől, és nincs rajtuk Isten vesszeje.

Házok békességes a félelemtől, és az Isten vesszeje nincsen ő rajtok.

Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

În casele lor domneşte pacea, fără umbră de frică; nuiaua lui Dumnezeu nu vine să-i lovească.

Their houses are safe from fear, and no rod of God is upon them.

Bikája párzik, és nem terméketlen, tehene megellik, és nem vetél el.

Bikája folyat és nem terméketlen, tehene megellik és el nem vetél.

Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

Taurii lor sunt plini de vlagă şi prăsitori, juncanele lor zămislesc şi nu leapădă.

Their bull breeds without fail; their cow calves and does not miscarry.

They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

They sing to the tambourine and the lyre and rejoice to the sound of the pipe.

They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

Îşi petrec zilele în fericire şi se coboară într-o clipă în Locuinţa morţilor.

They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol.

Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

Şi totuşi ziceau lui Dumnezeu: „Pleacă de la noi. Nu voim să cunoaştem căile Tale.

They say to God, ‘Depart from us! We do not desire the knowledge of your ways.

Micsoda a Mindenható, hogy tiszteljük őt, és mit nyerünk vele, ha esedezünk előtte?

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

Ce este Cel Atotputernic, ca să-I slujim? Ce vom câştiga dacă-I vom înălţa rugăciuni?”

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit do we get if we pray to him?’

Pedig jó soruk nincs a kezükben, ezért távol legyen tőlem a gonoszok tanácsa!

Mindazáltal az ő javok nincsen hatalmukban, azért a gonoszok tanácsa távol legyen tőlem!

Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

Ce! Nu sunt ei în stăpânirea fericirii? – Departe de mine sfatul celor răi! –

Behold, is not their prosperity in their hand? The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

Hányszor kialszik a gonoszok mécsese, és veszedelem jön rájuk! Hányszor osztogatja Isten haragjában, ami nekik jár!

Hányszor aluszik el a gonoszok szövétneke, és jő rájok az ő veszedelmök! [Hányszor] osztogatja részöket haragjában.

How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

Dar de multe ori se întâmplă să li se stingă candela, să vină sărăcia peste ei, să le dea şi lor Dumnezeu partea lor de dureri în mânia Lui,

“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity comes upon them? That God distributes pains in his anger?

Olyanok lesznek, mint a szalma a szélben és mint a polyva, amelyet forgószél ragad el.

Olyanok lesznek, mint a pozdorja a szél előtt, és mint a polyva, a melyet forgószél ragad el.

They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.

să fie ca paiul luat de vânt, ca pleava luată de vârtej?

That they are like straw before the wind, and like chaff that the storm carries away?

Csak fiainak tartogat büntetést Isten? Megfizet neki is, majd megtudja.

Isten az ő fiai számára tartja fenn annak büntetését. Megfizet néki, hogy megérzi majd.

God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.

Veţi zice că pentru fiii Săi păstrează Dumnezeu pedeapsa. Dar pe el, pe nelegiuit, ar trebui să-l pedepsească Dumnezeu, ca să simtă;

You say, ‘God stores up their iniquity for their children.’ Let him pay it out to them, that they may know it.

Saját szemével látja meg a maga vesztét, a Mindenható haragjából iszik.

Maga látja meg a maga veszedelmét, és a Mindenható haragjából iszik.

His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

el ar trebui să-şi vadă nimicirea, el ar trebui să bea mânia Celui Atotputernic.

Let their own eyes see their destruction, and let them drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

Mert mi gondja van háza népére a halála után, ha hónapjainak száma letelt?

Mert mi gondja van néki házanépére halála után, ha az ő hónapjainak száma letelt?!

For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

Căci, ce-i pasă lui ce va fi de casa lui după el, când numărul lunilor i s-a împlinit?

For what do they care for their houses after them, when the number of their months is cut off?

Kicsoda taníthatja Istent ismeretre, hiszen ő ítéli meg a magasságban levőket is!

Ki taníthatja Istent bölcseségre, hisz ő ítéli meg a magasságban levőket is!

Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

Oare pe Dumnezeu Îl vom învăţa minte, pe El, care cârmuieşte duhurile cereşti?

Will any teach God knowledge, seeing that he judges those who are on high?

Az egyik ereje teljében, megelégedetten és nyugodtan hal meg;

Ez meghal az ő teljes boldogságában, egészen megelégedetten és nyugodtan;

One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

Unul moare în mijlocul propăşirii, păcii şi fericirii,

One dies in his full vigor, being wholly at ease and secure,

teste kövérségtől duzzad, csontjaiban a velő gazdagon árad.

Fejőedényei tejjel vannak tele, csontjainak velője nedvességtől árad.

His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

A másik pedig elkeseredett lélekkel hal meg, mert nem élhetett a jóval.

Amaz elkeseredett lélekkel hal meg, mert nem élhetett a jóval.

And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

Altul moare, cu amărăciunea în suflet, fără să se fi bucurat de vreo fericire,

Another dies in bitterness of soul, never having tasted of prosperity.

Egyformán a porban fekszenek, és férgek lepik el őket.

Együtt feküsznek a porban, és féreg lepi őket.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

They lie down alike in the dust, and the worms cover them.

Íme, jól tudom gondolataitokat, és hogy mit ármánykodtok ellenem.

Ímé, jól tudom a ti gondolatitokat és a hamisságokat, a melyekkel méltatlankodtok ellenem;

Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

Ştiu eu bine care sunt gândurile voastre, ce judecăţi nedrepte rostiţi asupra mea.

“Behold, I know your thoughts and your schemes to wrong me.

Mert ezt mondjátok: Hol van a főember háza, és hol a sátor, ahol a gonoszok laknak?

Mert ezt mondjátok: Hol van ama főembernek háza, hol van a gonoszok lakozásának sátora?

For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

Voi ziceţi: „Unde este casa apăsătorului? Unde este cortul în care locuiau nelegiuiţii?”

For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

Hát nem kérdeztétek meg azokat, akik sokat utaznak, és nem ismeritek intéseiket,

Avagy nem kérdeztétek-é meg azokat, a kik [sokat] utaznak és jeleiket nem ismeritek-é?

Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

Dar ce! N-aţi întrebat pe călători şi nu ştiţi ce istorisesc ei?

Have you not asked those who travel the roads, and do you not accept their testimony

hogy a veszedelem napját Isten a gonoszoknak tartogatja, és a harag napja felé vezeti őket?

Bizony a veszedelemnek napján elrejtetik a gonosz, a haragnak napján kiszabadul.

That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

Cum în ziua nenorocirii, cel rău este cruţat, şi în ziua mâniei, el scapă.

that the evil man is spared in the day of calamity, that he is rescued in the day of wrath?

Kicsoda veti szemére az ő útját, és ki fizet meg neki azért, amit tett?

Kicsoda veti szemére az ő útját, és a mit cselekedett, kicsoda fizet meg néki azért?

Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

Cine îl mustră în faţă pentru purtarea lui? Cine îi răsplăteşte tot ce a făcut?

Who declares his way to his face, and who repays him for what he has done?

32

Ha kiviszik a temetőbe, még a sírdombja fölött is őrködnek.

Még ha a sírba vitetik is ki, a sírdomb felett is él.

Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

Este dus la groapă şi i se pune o strajă la mormânt.

When he is carried to the grave, watch is kept over his tomb.

Édesek neki a völgy hantjai, és minden ember követi, amiképpen már számtalan el is ment előtte.

Édesek lesznek néki a sírnak hantjai, és maga után vonsz minden embert, a mint számtalanok [mentek el] előtte.

The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

Bulgării din vale îi sunt mai uşori, căci toţi oamenii merg după el, şi o mulţime îi merge înainte.

The clods of the valley are sweet to him; all mankind follows after him, and those who go before him are innumerable.

34

Miért vigasztalnátok hát engem hiábavalósággal? Válaszotok igazságtalanság marad.

Hogyan vigasztalnátok hát engem hiábavalósággal? Feleselésetek igazságtalanság marad.

How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

Pentru ce dar îmi daţi mângâieri deşarte? Ce mai rămâne din răspunsurile voastre decât viclenie?”

How then will you comfort me with empty nothings? There is nothing left of your answers but falsehood.”
