Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

Poţi tu să prinzi Leviatanul cu undiţa? Sau să-i legi limba cu o funie?

Húzhatsz-e kötelet az orrába, átfúrhatod-e szigonnyal az állát?

Húzhatsz-é gúzst az orrába, az állát szigonynyal átfurhatod-é?

Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?

Îi vei putea petrece papura prin nări? Sau să-i străpungi cu un cârlig falca?

Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?

Vajon eléd jön-e, hogy könyörögjön neked, szól-e hozzád szelíd szavakkal?

Vajjon járul-é elődbe sok könyörgéssel, avagy szól-é hozzád sima beszédekkel?

Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?

Îţi va face el multe rugăminţi? Îţi va vorbi el cu un glas dulce?

Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words?

Vajon köt-e veled szövetséget, hogy örökös szolgádul fogadd?

Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

Játszadozhatsz-e vele, mint egy madárral, megkötözheted-e leánykáid kedvéért?

Játszhatol-é vele, miként egy madárral; gyermekeid kedvéért megkötözheted-é?

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

Te vei juca tu cu el ca şi cu o pasăre? Îl vei lega tu, ca să-ţi înveseleşti fetele?

Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you put him on a leash for your girls?

Alkudozhatnak-e rajta a kufárok, vagy osztozhatnak-e rajta a kalmárok?

Alkudozhatnak-é felette a társak, vagy a kalmárok közt feloszthatják-é azt?

Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?

Fac pescarii negoţ cu el? Îl împart ei între negustori?

Will traders bargain over him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?

Can you fill his skin with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?

Tedd rá a kezed, de ne feledd, hogy a harcot többé nem ismételheted meg.

Vesd rá a kezedet, de megemlékezzél, hogy a harczot nem ismételed.

Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.

Ridică-ţi numai mâna împotriva lui şi nu-ţi va mai veni gust să-l loveşti.

Lay your hands on him; remember the battle—you will not do it again!

Mert aki ezt reméli, csalódik, már a puszta látásától is elterül.

Ímé, az ő reménykedése csalárd; [puszta] látása is halálra ijeszt!

Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

Iată că eşti înşelat în aşteptarea ta de a-l prinde: numai să-l vezi şi cazi la pământ!

Behold, the hope of a man is false; he is laid low even at the sight of him.

Nincs olyan merész ember, aki fölverné. Ki az hát, aki szembeszállna velem?

Nincs oly merész, a ki őt felverje. Ki hát az, a ki velem szállna szembe?

None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

Nimeni nu este atât de îndrăzneţ ca să-l întărâte. Cine Mi s-ar împotrivi în faţă?

No one is so fierce that he dares to stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me?

Ki az, aki előbb adott nekem, hogy azt visszafizessem? Mind enyém, ami az ég alatt van!

Ki adott nékem elébb, hogy azt visszafizessem? A mi az ég alatt van, mind enyém!

Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

Cui sunt dator, ca să-i plătesc? Sub cer totul este al Meu.

Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.

Nem hallgathatom el testének tagjait, erejének nagyságát, alakjának szépségét.

I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.

“I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, or his mighty strength, or his goodly frame.

Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

Cine-i va putea ridica veşmântul? Cine va putea pătrunde între fălcile lui?

Who can strip off his outer garment? Who would come near him with a bridle?

Ki nyithatná föl pofájának ajtaját? Fogai körül rémület lakik!

Ki nyitotta fel orczájának ajtait? Fogainak sorai körül rémület [lakik!]

Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

Cine va putea deschide porţile gurii lui? Şirurile dinţilor lui cât sunt de înspăimântătoare!

Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth is terror.

Büszkeségei a pikkelyek, mintha szoros pecsétek tartanák össze azokat.

Büszkesége a csatornás pajzsok, összetartva [mintegy] szorító pecséttel.

His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

Scuturile lui măreţe şi puternice, sunt unite împreună ca printr-o pecete;

His back is made of rows of shields, shut up closely as with a seal.

Szájából lángok jönnek elő, és tüzes szikrák pattognak ki.

Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.

The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

Though the sword reaches him, it does not avail, nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin.

Hasán mintha éles cserepek lennének; mint szeges borona, úgy hentereg az iszapban.

Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.

Sub pântecele lui sunt ţepi ascuţiţi: ai zice că este o grapă întinsă peste noroi.

His underparts are like sharp potsherds; he spreads himself like a threshing sledge on the mire.

Fortyogóvá teszi a mély vizet, mint a fazékban; a tengert meg olyanná, mint a kenőcsös edény.

Felkavarja a mély vizet, mint a fazekat, a tengert olyanná teszi, mint a festékedény.

He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

Face să clocotească fundul mării ca un cazan şi-l clatină ca pe un vas plin cu mir.

He makes the deep boil like a pot; he makes the sea like a pot of ointment.

Fénylő ösvényt hagy maga után, azt hinné valaki, hogy megőszült a tenger.

Maga után világos ösvényt hagy, azt hinné [valaki,] a tenger megőszült.

He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

În urmă el lasă o cărare luminoasă; şi adâncul pare ca pletele unui bătrân.

Behind him he leaves a shining wake; one would think the deep to be white-haired.

Nincs a földön hozzá hasonló, úgy van teremtve, hogy ne rettegjen.

Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.

Szembenéz minden hatalmassal, ő a király minden ragadozó felett.

He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
