Már sok ilyen dolgot hallottam. Nyomorúságos vigasztalók vagytok ti mindnyájan!

Efféle dolgokat sokat hallottam. Nyomorult vigasztalók vagytok ti mindnyájan!

I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.

„Astfel de lucruri am auzit eu des; voi toţi sunteţi nişte mângâietori supărăcioşi.

“I have heard many such things; miserable comforters are you all.

Vége lesz már a légből kapott beszédeknek? Vajon mi ingerelt fel, hogy így válaszolsz?

Vége lesz-é már a szeles beszédeknek, avagy mi ingerel téged, hogy [így] felelsz?

Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?

Când se vor sfârşi aceste vorbe în vânt? Şi pentru ce atâta supărare în răspunsurile tale?

Shall windy words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

Én is szólhatnék úgy, mint ti, csak volna lelketek az én lelkem helyén! Szavakat fonhatnék össze ellenetek; csóválhatnám miattatok a fejem;

I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.

Ca voi aş vorbi eu, de aţi fi în locul meu? V-aş copleşi cu vorbe, aş da din cap la voi,

I also could speak as you do, if you were in my place; I could join words together against you and shake my head at you.

szájammal erősíthetnélek titeket, és ajkaim részvéte enyhítené fájdalmatokat.

Erősíthetnélek titeket [csak] a szájammal és ajakim mozgása kevesbítené [fájdalmatokat.]

But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.

v-aş mângâia cu gura şi aş mişca din buze ca să vă uşurez durerea?

I could strengthen you with my mouth, and the solace of my lips would assuage your pain.

Ha szólnék is, nem csökkenne a keserűségem; ha abbahagyom is, nem távozik el tőlem.

Ha szólnék is, nem kevesbbednék a keserűségem; ha veszteglek is: micsoda távozik el tőlem?

Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?

Dacă vorbesc, durerea nu mi s-alină, iar dacă tac, cu ce se micşorează?

“If I speak, my pain is not assuaged, and if I forbear, how much of it leaves me?

Most már bizony fáraszt a baj engem. Elpusztítottad egész házam népét.

But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

Dar acum, vai! El m-a stors de puteri… Mi-ai pustiit toată casa!

Surely now God has worn me out; he has made desolate all my company.

Megnyomorítottál engem: ez ellenem tanúskodik. Fölkelt ellenem saját véznaságom is, szemtől szemben tanúskodik ellenem.

Hogy összenyomtál engem, ez bizonyság lett; felkelt ellenem az én ösztövérségem is, szemtől-szembe bizonyít ellenem.

And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.

M-ai apucat, ca pe un vinovat; dovadă slăbiciunea mea, care se ridică şi mă învinuieşte în faţă.

And he has shriveled me up, which is a witness against me, and my leanness has risen up against me; it testifies to my face.

Haragja széttépett és üldözött engem. Fogait csikorgatta ellenem, ellenségként villogtatja felém tekintetét.

He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

Mă sfâşie şi mă urmăreşte în mânia Lui, scrâşneşte din dinţi împotriva mea, mă loveşte şi mă străpunge cu privirea Lui.

He has torn me in his wrath and hated me; he has gnashed his teeth at me; my adversary sharpens his eyes against me.

Föltátották ellenem szájukat, gyalázkodva arcul csapdostak, és összecsődültek ellenem.

Feltátották ellenem szájokat, gyalázatosan arczul csapdostak engem, összecsődültek ellenem.

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

Ei deschid gura să mă mănânce, mă ocărăsc şi mă bat peste obraji, se înverşunează cu toţii după mine.

Men have gaped at me with their mouth; they have struck me insolently on the cheek; they mass themselves together against me.

Isten az álnokoknak adott át és a gonoszok kezébe ejtett engem.

Adott engem az Isten az álnoknak, és a gonoszok kezébe ejte engemet.

God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.

Dumnezeu mă lasă la bunul plac al celor nelegiuiţi, şi mă aruncă în mâinile celor răi.

God gives me up to the ungodly and casts me into the hands of the wicked.

Nyugalmam volt, de szétszaggatott. Nyakon ragadott és összetört engem, céltáblává tűzött ki magának.

Csendességben valék, de szétszaggata engem; nyakszirten ragadott és szétzúzott engem, czéltáblává tűzött ki magának.

I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.

Eram liniştit, şi m-a scuturat, m-a apucat de ceafă şi m-a zdrobit, a tras asupra mea ca într-o ţintă.

I was at ease, and he broke me apart; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces; he set me up as his target;

Körülvettek íjászai; felhasítja veséimet, nem kímél engem; epémet a földre ontja.

Körülvettek az ő íjászai; veséimet meghasítja és nem kimél; epémet a földre kiontja.

His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.

Săgeţile Lui mă înconjoară din toate părţile; îmi străpunge rinichii fără milă, îmi varsă fierea pe pământ,

his archers surround me. He slashes open my kidneys and does not spare; he pours out my gall on the ground.

He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

He breaks me with breach upon breach; he runs upon me like a warrior.

Zsákruhát varrtam bőrömre, és porba hajtottam fejemet.

Zsák-ruhát varrék az én [fekélyes] bőrömre, és a porba fúrtam be az én szarvamat.

I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.

Mi-am cusut un sac pe piele şi mi-am prăvălit capul în ţărână.

I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin and have laid my strength in the dust.

Arcom kivörösödött a sírástól, szempilláimra a halál árnyéka szállt,

Orczám a sírástól kivörösödött, szempilláimra a halál árnyéka [szállt;]

My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

Plânsul mi-a înroşit faţa; şi umbra morţii este pe pleoapele mele.

My face is red with weeping, and on my eyelids is deep darkness,

noha nem tapad kezemhez erőszakosság, és tiszta az imádságom.

Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.

Totuşi n-am făcut nicio nelegiuire, şi rugăciunea mea totdeauna a fost curată.

although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.

Ó, föld, ne takard el véremet, és kiáltásom ne találjon nyughelyet!

Oh föld, az én véremet el ne takard, és ne legyen hely az én kiáltásom számára!

O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.

Pământule, nu-mi acoperii sângele, şi vaietele mele să n-aibă margine!

“O earth, cover not my blood, and let my cry find no resting place.

Még most is van bizonyságom a mennyben, van tanúm a magasságban!

Még most is ímé az égben van az én bizonyságom, és az én tanuim a magasságban!

Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.

Chiar acum, martorul meu este în cer, apărătorul meu este în locurile înalte.

Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and he who testifies for me is on high.

Saját barátaim csúfolnak, ezért Istenhez sír föl szemem,

My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

Prietenii mei râd de mine, dar eu mă rog lui Dumnezeu cu lacrimi,

My friends scorn me; my eye pours out tears to God,

hogy ő ítélje meg az embernek Istennel és az emberfiának a felebarátjával való dolgát.

O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!

să facă dreptate omului înaintea lui Dumnezeu, şi fiului omului împotriva prietenilor lui.

that he would argue the case of a man with God, as a son of man does with his neighbor.

Mert a kiszabott esztendők letelnek, és én útra kelek, és nem térek vissza.

When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.

Căci numărul anilor mei se apropie de sfârşit, şi mă voi duce pe o cărare de unde nu mă voi mai întoarce.

For when a few years have come I shall go the way from which I shall not return.

Lelkem elalélt, napjaim elfogynak, a sír vár reám.

[Lelkem meghanyatlott, napjaim elfogynak, vár rám a sír.]
