Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

Încinge-ţi mijlocul ca un viteaz, ca Eu să te întreb, şi tu să Mă înveţi.

Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.

Ki határozta meg méreteit, ugyan tudod-e? Ki feszített ki fölötte mérőzsinórt?

Ki határozta meg mértékeit, ugyan tudod-é; avagy ki húzta el felette a mérő zsinórt?

Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

Cine i-a hotărât măsurile, ştii? Sau cine a întins frânghia de măsurat peste el?

Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?

Mire alapozták oszlopait, és ki helyezte el sarokkövét,

Mire bocsátották le oszlopait, avagy ki vetette fel szegeletkövét;

Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone,

amikor együtt vigadoztak a hajnalcsillagok, és ujjongtak az istenfiak?

When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Kicsoda zárta el ajtókkal a tengert, amikor előtűnt, és kijött a föld gyomrából;

Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

Cine a închis marea cu porţi, când s-a aruncat din pântecele mamei ei?

amikor felhőbe öltöztettem és sűrű homállyal takartam be;

Mikor ruházatává a felhőt tevém, takarójául pedig a sürű homályt?

When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

Când i-am făcut haina din nori şi scutece din întuneric;

when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,

amikor megszabtam határait, zárat és ajtókat helyeztem rá,

Mikor reávontam törvényemet, zárat és ajtókat veték eléje:

And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

când i-am pus hotar şi când i-am pus zăvoare şi porţi;

and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors,

és azt mondtam: „Eddig jöjj, és ne tovább; ez itt ellenáll kevély habjaidnak!”?

És azt mondám: Eddig jőjj és ne tovább; ez itt ellene áll kevély habjaidnak!

And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

când am zis: „Până aici să vii, să nu treci mai departe; aici să ţi se oprească mândria valurilor tale”?

and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

Parancsoltál-e a reggelnek, amióta élsz? Vajon te adtál-e helyet a hajnalnak,

Parancsoltál-é a reggelnek, a mióta megvagy? Kimutattad-é a hajnalnak a helyét?

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

De când eşti, ai poruncit tu dimineţii? Ai arătat zorilor locul lor,

“Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,

hogy belefogóddzék a föld széleibe, és lerázza róla a gonoszokat?

That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

Átváltozik, mint agyag a pecsét alatt, és úgy áll elő a föld, mint aki felöltözött.

Hogy átváltozzék mint a megpecsételt agyag, és előálljon, mint egy ruhában.

It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

Ca pământul să se schimbe ca lutul pe care se pune o pecete, şi toate lucrurile să se arate îmbrăcate ca în haina lor adevărată?

It is changed like clay under the seal, and its features stand out like a garment.

Így veszi el a gonoszoktól a világosságot, és összetöri a fölemelt kart.

Hogy a gonoszoktól elvétessék világosságuk, és a fölemelt kar összetöressék?

And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

Pentru ca cei răi să fie lipsiţi de lumina lor, şi braţul care se ridică să fie zdrobit?

From the wicked their light is withheld, and their uplifted arm is broken.

Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

Ai pătruns tu până la izvoarele mării? Sau te-ai plimbat tu prin fundurile adâncului?

“Have you entered into the springs of the sea, or walked in the recesses of the deep?

Megnyíltak-e előtted a halál kapui; a halál árnyékának kapuit láttad-e?

Megnyíltak-é néked a halálnak kapui; a halál árnyékának kapuit láttad-é?

Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

Ţi s-au deschis porţile morţii? Sau ai văzut tu porţile umbrei morţii?

Have the gates of death been revealed to you, or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?

Áttekintetted-e a föld szélességét? Mondd meg mindezt, ha tudod!

Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

Ai cuprins tu cu privirea întinderea pământului? Vorbeşte, dacă ştii toate aceste lucruri.

Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth? Declare, if you know all this.

Vissza tudod-e vinni határai közé, ismered-e a házába vezető utat?

Hogy visszavinnéd azt az ő határába, és hogy megismernéd lakása útjait.

That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

Poţi să le urmăreşti până la hotarul lor şi să cunoşti cărările locuinţei lor?

that you may take it to its territory and that you may discern the paths to its home?

Tudod te ezt, hiszen akkor születtél; napjaid száma igen nagy!

Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

Ştii, căci atunci erai născut, şi numărul zilelor tale este mare!

You know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great!

Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

Ai ajuns tu până la cămările zăpezii? Ai văzut tu cămările grindinei,

“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,

Fenntartottam azt a szükség idejére, a harc és a háború napjára.

Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

pentru ca să cadă ploaia pe un pământ fără locuitori, pe un pustiu unde nu sunt oameni;

to bring rain on a land where no man is, on the desert in which there is no man,

hogy megitasson pusztát, sivatagot, és hogy zsenge füvet sarjasszon?

To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

Tu faci să iasă la vremea lor semnele zodiacului şi tu cârmuieşti Ursul mare cu puii lui?

Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children?

Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?

Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

Cine pregăteşte corbului hrana, când puii lui strigă spre Dumnezeu, când umblă rătăciţi şi flămânzi?
