My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

Azt mondom az Istennek: Ne kárhoztass engem; add tudtomra, miért perlesz velem?!

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.

Eu zic lui Dumnezeu: „Nu mă osândi! Arată-mi pentru ce Te cerţi cu mine!

I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me.

Jó-e az neked, hogy nyomorgatsz, hogy megveted kezed munkáját, és a gonoszok tanácsát támogatod?

Jó-é az néked, hogy nyomorgatsz, hogy megútálod kezednek munkáját, és a gonoszok tanácsát támogatod?

Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

Îţi place să chinuieşti, să dispreţuieşti făptura mâinilor Tale, în timp ce faci să-Ţi strălucească bunăvoinţa peste sfatul celor răi?

Does it seem good to you to oppress, to despise the work of your hands and favor the designs of the wicked?

Testi szemeid vannak neked, és úgy látsz, ahogy a halandó lát?

Testi szemeid vannak-é néked, és úgy látsz-é te, a mint halandó lát?

Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?

Oare ai ochi de carne, sau vezi cum vede un om?

Have you eyes of flesh? Do you see as man sees?

Olyanok napjaid, mint a halandóé, és olyanok éveid, mint az emberé,

Mint a halandónak napjai, olyanok-é a te napjaid, avagy a te éveid, mint az embernek napjai?

Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,

Zilele Tale sunt ca zilele omului, şi anii Tăi ca anii lui,

Are your days as the days of man, or your years as a man’s years,

hogy álnokságomról tudakozódsz, és vétkem után kutatsz?

Hogy az én álnokságomról tudakozol, és az én vétkem után kutatsz.

That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?

that you seek out my iniquity and search for my sin,

Jól tudod, hogy nem vagyok gonosz, még sincs senki, aki kiszabadítana kezedből!

Jól tudod te azt, hogy én nem vagyok gonosz, még sincs, a ki kezedből kiszabadítson!

Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.

când ştii bine că nu sunt vinovat şi că nimeni nu mă poate scăpa din mâna Ta?

although you know that I am not guilty, and there is none to deliver out of your hand?

Kezed formált és alkotott, mégis elfordulsz, és megrontasz engem?

Kezeid formáltak engem és készítének engem egészen köröskörül, és mégis megrontasz engem?!

Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

Mâinile Tale m-au făcut şi m-au zidit, ele m-au întocmit în întregime… Şi Tu să mă nimiceşti!

Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you have destroyed me altogether.

Emlékezz csak: úgy formáltál, mint egy agyagedényt, és most újra porrá tennél engem?

Emlékezzél, kérlek, hogy mint valami agyagedényt, úgy készítettél engem, és ismét porrá tennél engem?

Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

Adu-Ţi aminte că Tu m-ai lucrat ca lutul; şi vrei din nou să mă prefaci în ţărână?

Remember that you have made me like clay; and will you return me to the dust?

Nem úgy öntöttél-e, mint a tejet, nem úgy oltottál-e, mint a sajtot?

Nem úgy öntél-é engem, mint a tejet és mint a sajtot, megoltottál engem?

Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

Nu m-ai muls ca laptele? Nu m-ai închegat ca brânza?

Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?

Bőrbe és húsba öltöztettél, csontokkal és inakkal láttál el.

Bőrrel és hússal ruháztál fel engem, csontokkal és inakkal befedeztél engem.

Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.

M-ai îmbrăcat cu piele şi carne, m-ai ţesut cu oase şi vine;

You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.

Életet és kegyelmet adtál nekem, és gondviselésed őrizte lelkem.

Életet és kegyelmet szerzettél számomra, és a te gondviselésed őrizte az én lelkemet.

Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

mi-ai dat bunăvoinţa Ta şi viaţa, m-ai păstrat cu suflarea prin îngrijirile şi paza Ta.

You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.

Mégis ezeket rejtegetted szívedben, hisz tudom, hogy ezt tökélted el magadban:

De ezeket elrejtetted a te szívedben, és tudom, hogy ezt tökélted el magadban:

And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.

Iată totuşi ce ascundeai în inima Ta, iată, ştiu acum, ce aveai de gând:

Yet these things you hid in your heart; I know that this was your purpose.

ha vétkezem, mindjárt észreveszed, és bűnöm alól nem mentesz fel.

Ha vétkezem, mindjárt észreveszed rajtam, és bűnöm alól nem mentesz föl engem.

If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.

că, dacă păcătuiesc, să mă pândeşti şi să nu-mi ierţi fărădelegea.

If I sin, you watch me and do not acquit me of my iniquity.

Ha istentelen vagyok, jaj nekem! Ha igaz vagyok, akkor sem emelhetem föl a fejem. Eltölt a szégyen, és látom nyomorúságomat.

Ha istentelen vagyok, jaj nékem; ha igaz vagyok, sem emelem föl fejemet, eltelve gyalázattal, de tekints nyomorúságomra!

If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;

Dacă sunt vinovat, vai de mine! Dacă sunt nevinovat, nu îndrăznesc să-mi ridic capul, sătul de ruşine şi cufundat în ticăloşia mea.

If I am guilty, woe to me! If I am in the right, I cannot lift up my head, for I am filled with disgrace and look on my affliction.

Hiszen ha fölemelném fejem, mint oroszlán kergetnél engem, és ismét ellenem fordítanád csodás hatalmadat.

Ha pedig felemelkednék az, mint oroszlán kergetnél engem, és ismét csudafájdalmakat bocsátanál reám.

For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.

Şi dacă îndrăznesc să-l ridic, mă urmăreşti ca un leu, mă loveşti cu lucruri de mirat,

And were my head lifted up, you would hunt me like a lion and again work wonders against me.

Új tanúkat állítanál ellenem, megsokasítanád rajtam bosszúállásodat; sereged hullámokban támadna ellenem.

Megújítanád a te bizonyságidat ellenem, megöregbítenéd a te boszúállásodat rajtam; váltakozó és állandó sereg volna ellenem.

Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.

îmi pui înainte noi martori împotrivă, Îţi creşte mânia împotriva mea şi mă năpădeşti cu o droaie de nenorociri.

You renew your witnesses against me and increase your vexation toward me; you bring fresh troops against me.

Miért is hoztál ki anyám méhéből? Bárcsak meghaltam volna, és szem se látott volna engem!

Miért is hoztál ki engem anyámnak méhéből? Vajha meghaltam volna, és szem nem látott volna engem!

Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!

Pentru ce m-ai scos din pântecele mamei mele? O, de aş fi murit, şi ochiul să nu mă fi văzut!

“Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before any eye had seen me

Olyan lennék, mintha nem is éltem volna, mintha az anyaméhből vittek volna a sírba!

Lettem volna, mintha nem is voltam volna; anyámnak méhéből sírba vittek volna!

I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.

Aş fi ca şi cum n-aş fi fost, şi din pântecele mamei mele aş fi trecut în mormânt!”

and were as though I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave.

Úgyis kevés napom maradt, hagyhatna már. Forduljon el tőlem, hadd viduljak föl kissé,

Hiszen kevés napom van még; szünjék meg! Forduljon el tőlem, hadd viduljak fel egy kevéssé,

Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

Nu sunt zilele mele destul de puţine? Să mă lase dar, să plece de la mine, şi să răsuflu puţin,

Are not my days few? Then cease, and leave me alone, that I may find a little cheer

A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

în ţara întunericului şi a umbrei morţii, în ţara negurii adânci, unde domneşte umbra morţii şi neorânduiala şi unde lumina este ca întunericul!”

the land of gloom like thick darkness, like deep shadow without any order, where light is as thick darkness.”
