Bizony, gúnyolódók vesznek körül! Szemem civódásukon időzik.

Még mindig csúfot űznek belőlem! Szemem az ő patvarkodásuk között virraszt.

My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.

Mi se pierde suflarea, mi se sting zilele, mă aşteaptă mormântul.

Tedd meg, vállalj értem kezességet, különben ki kezeskedne értem?

Kezest magadnál rendelj, kérlek, nékem; [különben] ki csap velem kezet?

Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

Sunt înconjurat de batjocoritori, şi ochiul meu trebuie să privească spre ocările lor.

Surely there are mockers about me, and my eye dwells on their provocation.

Mivel szívüket elzártad az értelem elől, azért nem is engedheted felülkerekedni őket.

Minthogy az ő szívöket elzártad az értelem elől, azért nem is magasztalhatod fel őket.

Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?

Pune-Te singur zălog pentru mine înaintea Ta; altfel, cine ar putea răspunde pentru mine?

“Lay down a pledge for me with you; who is there who will put up security for me?

Aki prédára juttatja a barátait, annak még fiai is hiába epekednek.

A ki prédává juttatja barátait, annak fiainak szemei elfogyatkoznak.

For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

Căci le-ai încuiat inima în faţa priceperii. De aceea nici nu-i vei lăsa să biruie.

Since you have closed their hearts to understanding, therefore you will not let them triumph.

Szóbeszéd tárgyává tett a népek előtt, és olyanná lettem előttük, mint akit arcon köptek.

Példabeszéddé tőn engem a népek előtt, és ijesztővé lettem előttök.

He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

Cine dă pe prieteni să fie prădaţi, copiilor aceluia li se vor topi ochii.

He who informs against his friends to get a share of their property— the eyes of his children will fail.

Szemem elhomályosodott a bosszúság miatt, minden tagom olyan, mint az árnyék.

A bosszúság miatt szemem elhomályosodik, és minden tagom olyan, mint az árnyék.

He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.

M-a făcut de basmul oamenilor şi ca unul pe care-l scuipi în faţă!

“He has made me a byword of the peoples, and I am one before whom men spit.

Megütköznek ezen a becsületesek, és az ártatlan felháborodik a képmutató miatt.

Elálmélkodnak ezen a becsületesek, és az ártatlan a képmutató ellen támad.

Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

Ochiul mi se întunecă de durere; toate mădularele mele sunt ca o umbră.

My eye has grown dim from vexation, and all my members are like a shadow.

Ám az igaz kitart az útján, és a tiszta kezű ember erősebbé lesz.

Ám az igaz kitart az ő útján, és a tiszta kezű ember még erősebbé lesz.

Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

Oamenii fără prihană sunt înmărmuriţi de aceasta, şi cel nevinovat se răscoală împotriva celui nelegiuit.

The upright are appalled at this, and the innocent stirs himself up against the godless.

Nosza hát, térjetek vissza ide mindnyájan. Jöjjetek, úgysem találok bölcset közöttetek.

Nosza hát, térjetek ide mindnyájan; jőjjetek, kérlek, úgy sem találok bölcset köztetek.

The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Cel fără prihană rămâne totuşi tare pe calea lui, cel cu mâinile curate se întăreşte tot mai mult.

Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he who has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.

Napjaim elmúltak, szívemnek kincsei, terveim meghiúsultak.

Napjaim elmulának, szívemnek kincsei: terveim meghiusulának.

But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.

Dar voi toţi, întoarceţi-vă, veniţi iarăşi cu cuvântările voastre, şi vă voi arăta că între voi niciunul nu e înţelept.

But you, come on again, all of you, and I shall not find a wise man among you.

Az éjszakát nappallá akarják változtatni; mintha a világosság közelebb lenne, mint a sötétség.

Az éjszakát nappallá változtatják, és a világosság csakhamar sötétséggé lesz.

My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.

Ce! Mi s-au dus zilele, mi s-au nimicit planurile, planurile acelea făcute cu atâta iubire în inima mea…

My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart.

Ha abban reménykedem, hogy a sír az otthonom, és a sötétségben vetettem meg ágyamat;

Ha reménykedem is, a sír [már] az én házam, a sötétségben vetettem az én ágyamat.

They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.

Şi ei mai spun că noaptea este zi, că se apropie lumina, când întunericul a şi venit!

They make night into day: ‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’

If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

Când Locuinţa morţilor o aştept ca locuinţă, când în întuneric îmi voi înălţa culcuşul;

If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I make my bed in darkness,

Hol tehát az én reménységem, ki törődik az én reménységemmel?

I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

if I say to the pit, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’

Leszáll a sírba, velem együtt nyugszik a porban.

Leszáll az majd a sír üregébe, velem együtt nyugoszik a porban.

And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

Unde mai este atunci nădejdea mea? Şi cine mai poate vedea nădejdea mea?

where then is my hope? Who will see my hope?

They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

Ea se va coborî cu mine la porţile Locuinţei morţilor, când vom merge împreună să ne odihnim în ţărână.”
