- And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

- When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore the place was named Abel-mizraim; it is beyond the Jordan.

- For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
- L-au dus în ţara Canaan şi l-au îngropat în peştera din ogorul Macpela, pe care-l cumpărase Avraam de la hetitul Efron ca moşie de înmormântare şi care este faţă în faţă cu Mamre.
- for his sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place.

- And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

- A mint láták József bátyjai, hogy az ő atyjok meghalt, ezt mondják vala: Hátha gyűlölni fog minket József, és visszaadja nékünk mindazt a gonoszt, a mit rajta elkövettünk.
- And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
- Când au văzut fraţii lui Iosif că tatăl lor a murit, au zis: „Dacă va prinde Iosif ură pe noi şi ne va întoarce tot răul pe care i l-am făcut?”
- When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil that we did to him.”

- Ezt üzenték tehát Józsefnek: Atyád ezt parancsolta nekünk halála előtt:

- And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

- „Így szóljatok Józsefhez: Kérünk, bocsásd meg testvéreidnek vétkét és bűneit, hogy rosszat tettek ellened.” Most hát bocsásd meg azoknak vétkét, akik atyád Istenének szolgái. József sírva fakadt, amikor ezt mondták neki.
- Így szóljatok Józsefhez: Kérünk téged, bocsásd meg a te atyádfiainak vétkét és bűnöket, mert gonoszul cselekedtek te ellened. Most azért bocsásd meg azoknak vétkét, a kik a te atyád Istenét szolgálják. József pedig sír vala, mikor ezt mondák néki.
- So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
- „Aşa să vorbiţi lui Iosif: „Oh! iartă nelegiuirea fraţilor tăi şi păcatul lor, căci ţi-au făcut rău!” Iartă acum păcatul robilor Dumnezeului tatălui tău!” Iosif a plâns când a auzit cuvintele acestea.
- ‘Say to Joseph, “Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

- Ekkor odamentek hozzá a testvérei, leborultak előtte, és így szóltak: Íme, szolgáid vagyunk.
- Járulának pedig ő hozzá az ő testvérei is, és leborúlának előtte és mondának: Ímé mi a te szolgáid [vagyunk].
- And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

- His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.”

- De József így felelt: Ne féljetek! Hát Isten vagyok-e én?

- And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
- Iosif le-a zis: „Fiţi fără teamă; căci sunt eu oare în locul lui Dumnezeu?
- But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God?

- Ti rosszat gondoltatok felőlem, de Isten úgy gondolta, hogy jóra fordítja azt, hogy úgy cselekedjék, amint ma van, hogy sok nép életét megtartsa.

- But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
- Voi, negreşit, v-aţi gândit să-mi faceţi rău: dar Dumnezeu a schimbat răul în bine, ca să împlinească ceea ce se vede azi, şi anume, să scape viaţa unui popor în mare număr.
- As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.

- Azért most ne féljetek! Eltartalak titeket és gyermekeiteket. Így vigasztalta meg őket, és szívükre beszélt.
- Most annakokáért ne féljetek: Eltartalak én titeket és a ti gyermekeiteket. És megvígasztalá őket és szívökre beszéle.
- Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
- Fiţi, dar, fără teamă, căci eu vă voi hrăni, pe voi şi pe copiii voştri.” Şi i-a mângâiat şi le-a îmbărbătat inimile.
- So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

- And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

- And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
- Iosif a zis fraţilor săi: „Eu am să mor! Dar Dumnezeu vă va cerceta şi vă va face să vă suiţi din ţara aceasta în ţara pe care a jurat că o va da lui Avraam, lui Isaac şi lui Iacov.”
- And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”

- So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
