To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

pentru cunoaşterea înţelepciunii şi învăţăturii, pentru înţelegerea cuvintelor minţii;

To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight,

Okos intésként, igazságnak, ítéletnek és becsületességnek megnyerésére szolgál,

Okos fenyítéknek, igazságnak és ítéletnek és becsületességnek megnyerésére;

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

pentru căpătarea învăţăturilor de bun simţ, de dreptate, de judecată şi de nepărtinire;

to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

hogy az egyszerű emberek eszességet, az ifjak tudást és meggondolást kapjanak.

Együgyűeknek eszesség, gyermeknek tudomány és meggondolás adására.

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

ca să dea celor neîncercaţi agerime de minte, tânărului cunoştinţă şi chibzuinţă –

to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth—

Hallja ezt a bölcs, és növelje tudását, és az értelmes helyes tanácsokra tegyen szert,

Hallja a bölcs és öregbítse az ő tanulságát, és az értelmes szerezzen érett tanácsokat.

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

să asculte însă şi înţeleptul, şi îşi va mări ştiinţa, şi cel priceput, şi va căpăta iscusinţă –

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance,

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.

Az ÚRnak félelme az ismeret kezdete. A bölcsességet és erkölcsi tanítást csupán a bolondok vetik meg.

Az Úrnak félelme feje a bölcseségnek; a bölcseséget és erkölcsi tanítást a bolondok megútálják.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Frica Domnului este începutul ştiinţei; dar nebunii nesocotesc înţelepciunea şi învăţătura.

Hallgasd, fiam, apád erkölcsi tanítását, és anyád oktatását ne hagyd el!

Hallgasd, fiam, a te atyádnak erkölcsi tanítását, és a te anyádnak oktatását el ne hagyd.

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Ascultă, fiule, învăţătura tatălui tău şi nu lepăda îndrumările mamei tale!

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching,

Mert kedves ékesség lesz az a fejednek, és aranylánc a nyakadra.

Mert kedves ékesség lesz a te fejednek, és aranyláncz a te nyakadra.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Căci ele sunt o cunună plăcută pe capul tău şi un lanţ de aur la gâtul tău.

for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.

Fiam, ha a bűnösök el akarnak csábítani, ne engedj nekik!

Fiam, ha a bűnösök el akarnak csábítani téged: ne fogadd beszédöket.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

Fiule, dacă nişte păcătoşi vor să te amăgească, nu te lăsa câştigat de ei!

My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

Ha azt mondják: „Gyere velünk, álljunk lesben a vérontásra, settenkedjünk az ártatlan után ok nélkül!

Ha azt mondják: jere mi velünk, leselkedjünk vér után, rejtezzünk el az ártatlan ellen ok nélkül;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

Dacă-ţi vor zice: „Vino cu noi! Haidem să întindem curse ca să vărsăm sânge, să întindem fără temei laţuri celui nevinovat;

If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason;

Nyeljük el őket élve, mint a sír és egészen úgy, mint akik a mélységbe szálltak;

Nyeljük el azokat, mint a sír elevenen, és egészen, mint a kik mélységbe szállottak;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

haidem să-i înghiţim de vii, ca Locuinţa morţilor, şi întregi, ca pe cei ce se coboară în groapă;

like Sheol let us swallow them alive, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;

és szerezzünk mindenféle drága kincset, töltsük meg házainkat zsákmánnyal!

Minden drága marhát nyerünk, megtöltjük a mi házainkat zsákmánnyal;

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

vom găsi tot felul de lucruri scumpe şi ne vom umple casele cu pradă;

we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder;

Végy részt köztünk a sorsvetésben, és közös erszényünk legyen mindnyájunknak!”,

Sorsodat vesd közénk; egy erszényünk legyen mindnyájunknak:

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

vei avea şi tu partea ta la fel cu noi, o pungă vom avea cu toţii!” –

throw in your lot among us; we will all have one purse”—

fiam, ne járj ezekkel egy úton, tartsd vissza a lábad ösvényüktől,

Fiam, ne járj egy úton ezekkel, tartóztasd meg lábaidat ösvényüktől;

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

Fiule, să nu porneşti la drum cu ei, abate-ţi piciorul de pe cărarea lor!

my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,

mert lábuk a gonosz felé fut, és vérontásra siet.

Mert lábaik a gonoszra futnak, és sietnek a vérnek ontására.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

Căci picioarele lor aleargă la rău şi se grăbesc să verse sânge.

for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

Mert hiába vetik ki a hálót minden szárnyas szeme láttára:

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

Dar degeaba se aruncă laţul înaintea ochilor tuturor păsărilor;

For in vain is a net spread in the sight of any bird,

a maguk vére árán ólálkodnak, saját lelkük kárára állnak lesben.

Ezek mégis vérök árán is ólálkodnak, lelkök árán is leselkednek;

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

căci ei întind curse tocmai împotriva sângelui lor, şi sufletului lor îşi întind ei laţuri.

but these men lie in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives.

Ilyen az útja minden kapzsi embernek: a saját életét veszíti el.

Ilyen az útja minden kapzsi embernek: gazdájának életét veszi el.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

Aceasta este soarta tuturor celor lacomi de câştig, lăcomia aduce pierderea celor ce se dedau la ea.

Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain; it takes away the life of its possessors.

A bölcsesség kint kiált szerteszét, az utcákon hallatja szavát.

A bölcseség künn szerül-szerte kiált; az utczákon zengedezteti az ő szavát.

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Înţelepciunea strigă pe uliţe, îşi înalţă glasul în pieţe:

Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice;

Lármás utcasarkokon kiált a kapuk bejáratánál, a városban mondja beszédeit.

Lármás utczafőkön kiált a kapuk bemenetelin, a városban szólja az ő beszédit.

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

strigă unde e zarva mai mare; la porţi, în cetate, îşi spune cuvintele ei:

at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:

Meddig szeretitek, ó, ti együgyűek, az együgyűséget, és meddig gyönyörködnek a csúfolók a csúfolódásban, és meddig gyűlölik a balgák a tudományt?

Míglen szeretitek, oh ti együgyűek az együgyűséget, és gyönyörködnek a csúfolók csúfolásban, és gyűlölik a balgatagok a tudományt?!

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

„Până când veţi iubi prostia, proştilor? Până când le va plăcea batjocoritorilor batjocura şi vor urî nebunii ştiinţa?

“How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?

Térjetek meg dorgálásomra! Íme, kiárasztom rátok lelkemet, tudtotokra adom beszédeimet.

Térjetek az én dorgálásomhoz; ímé közlöm veletek az én lelkemet, tudtotokra adom az én beszédimet néktek.

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Întoarceţi-vă să ascultaţi mustrările mele! Iată, voi turna duhul meu peste voi, vă voi face cunoscut cuvintele mele…

If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

Mivel hívtalak titeket, és vonakodtatok, kiterjesztettem kezemet, de senki sem figyelt;

Mivelhogy hívtalak [titeket,] és vonakodtatok, kiterjesztém az én kezemet, és senki eszébe nem vette;

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Fiindcă eu chem şi voi vă împotriviţi, fiindcă îmi întind mâna şi nimeni nu ia seama,

Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,

elhagytátok minden tanácsomat, és feddésemmel nem törődtetek,

És elhagytátok minden én tanácsomat, és az én feddésemmel nem gondoltatok:

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

fiindcă lepădaţi toate sfaturile mele şi nu vă plac mustrările mele,

because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof,

ezért én is nevetek nyomorúságotokon, kicsúfollak, amikor eljön az, amitől féltek.

Én is a ti nyomorúságtokon nevetek, megcsúfollak, mikor eljő az, a mitől féltek.

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

de aceea şi eu voi râde când veţi fi în vreo nenorocire, îmi voi bate joc de voi când vă va apuca groaza,

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you,

Mikor eljön az, amitől féltek, mint a vihar, és nyomorúságotok, mint a forgószél, elközelget; amikor eljön reátok a nyomorúság és a szorongattatás,

Mikor eljő, mint a vihar, az, a mitől féltek, és a ti nyomorúságtok, mint a forgószél elközelget: mikor eljő ti reátok a nyomorgatás és a szorongatás.

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

când vă va apuca groaza ca o furtună şi când vă va învălui nenorocirea ca un vârtej, când va da peste voi necazul şi strâmtorarea.

when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

akkor majd segítségül hívnak engem, de nem hallgatom meg őket; keresnek engem, de nem találnak meg.

Akkor segítségül hívnak engem, de nem hallgatom meg: keresnek engem, de meg nem találnak.

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Atunci mă vor chema, şi nu voi răspunde; mă vor căuta, şi nu mă vor găsi.

Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.

Azért, mert gyűlölték a tudományt, és nem az ÚR félelmét választották.

Azért hogy gyűlölték a bölcseséget, és az Úrnak félelmét nem választották.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Pentru că au urât ştiinţa şi n-au ales frica Domnului,

Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD,

Nem engedtek tanácsomnak, megvetették minden feddésemet.

Nem engedtek az én tanácsomnak; megvetették minden én feddésemet.

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

pentru că n-au iubit sfaturile mele şi au nesocotit toate mustrările mele.

Útjuk gyümölcséből esznek, és saját tanácsukkal laknak jól.

Esznek azért az ő útjoknak gyümölcséből, és az ő tanácsokból megelégednek.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

De aceea se vor hrăni cu roada umbletelor lor şi se vor sătura cu sfaturile lor.

therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.

Mert az együgyűeket pártosságuk öli meg, és a balgákat önteltségük veszti el.

Mert az együgyűeknek pártossága megöli őket, és a balgatagoknak szerencséje elveszti őket.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Căci împotrivirea proştilor îi ucide, şi liniştea nebunilor îi pierde;

For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them;

Aki pedig rám hallgat, biztonságban lakik, és nyugalomban él, mert nem kell félnie a gonosztól.

A ki pedig hallgat engem, lakozik bátorságosan, és csendes lesz a gonosznak félelmétől.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

dar cel ce m-ascultă va locui fără grijă, va trăi liniştit şi fără să se teamă de vreun rău.

but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
