Fiam, figyelj bölcsességemre, fordítsd füledet értelmes beszédemre!

Fiam! az én bölcseségemre figyelmezz, az én értelmemre hajtsd a te füledet,

My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,

Maradj megfontolt, és ajkad őrizze meg a tudományt.

Hogy megtartsd a meggondolást, és a tudományt a te ajakid megőrizzék.

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

ca să fii cu chibzuinţă, şi buzele tale să aibă cunoştinţă.

that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge.

Mert színméz csöpög az idegen asszony ajkáról, és szája simább az olajnál.

Mert színmézet csepeg az idegen asszony ajka, és símább az olajnál az ő ínye.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

Căci buzele femeii străine strecoară miere, şi cerul gurii ei este mai lunecos decât untdelemnul;

For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil,

De végül keserű, mint az üröm, éles, mint a kétélű tőr.

De annak vége keserű, mint az üröm, éles, mint a kétélű tőr.

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Lába a halálra visz, léptei a sír felé tartanak.

Az ő lábai a halálra mennek, az ő léptei a sírba törekszenek.

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Picioarele ei coboară la moarte, paşii ei dau în Locuinţa morţilor.

Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol;

Nem követi az élet útját, ösvényei bizonytalanok lettek, anélkül hogy észrevenné azt.

Az életnek útát hogy ne követhesse, ösvényei változókká lettek, a nélkül, hogy ő eszébe venné.

Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

Aşa că ea nu poate găsi calea vieţii, rătăceşte în căile ei şi nu ştie unde merge.

she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.

Most azért, fiaim, hallgassatok rám, és ne térjetek el szám beszédeitől!

Most azért, fiaim, hallgassatok engem, és ne távozzatok el számnak beszéditől!

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Şi acum, fiilor, ascultaţi-mă şi nu vă abateţi de la cuvintele gurii mele:

And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

Tartsd távol tőle utadat, és ne közelíts házának ajtajához,

Távoztasd el attól útadat, és ne közelgess házának ajtajához,

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

depărtează-te de drumul care duce la ea şi nu te apropia de uşa casei ei,

Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,

hogy ne másoknak add ékességedet és esztendeidet a kegyetlennek,

Hogy másoknak ne add a te ékességedet, és esztendeidet a kegyetlennek;

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

ca nu cumva să-ţi dai altora vlaga ta, şi unui om fără milă anii tăi;

lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless,

hogy ne az idegenek teljenek be javaiddal, és keresményed ne jusson másnak a házába.

Hogy ne az idegenek teljenek be a te marháiddal, és a te keresményed más házába ne [jusson.]

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

ca nu cumva nişte străini să se sature de averea ta, şi tu să te trudeşti pentru casa altuia;

lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner,

Különben nyögnöd kell életed végén, amikor megemésztődik húsod és tested,

Hogy nyögnöd kelljen [élet]ed végén, a mikor megemésztetik a te húsod és a te tested,

And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

ca nu cumva să gemi, la urmă, când carnea şi trupul ţi se vor istovi,

and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed,

és azt kell majd mondanod: Hogyan is gyűlölhettem az erkölcsi tanítást, és hogyan utálhatta szívem a fenyítést?!

És azt kelljen mondanod: miképen gyűlöltem az erkölcsi tanítást, és a fenyítéket útálta az én elmém,

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

şi să zici: „Cum am putut eu să urăsc certarea şi cum a dispreţuit inima mea mustrarea?

and you say, “How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

Nem hallgattam vezetőim szavára, és nem fordítottam fülemet tanítóim felé!

És nem hallgattam az én vezetőim szavát, és az én tanítóimhoz nem hajtottam fülemet!

And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

Cum am putut să n-ascult glasul învăţătorilor mei şi să nu iau aminte la cei ce mă învăţau?

I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.

Kis híja volt, hogy minden gonoszságba belemerüljek, noha a gyülekezet közepében voltam!

Kevés híja volt, hogy minden gonoszságba nem merültem a gyülekezetnek és községnek közepette!

I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

Cât pe ce să mă nenorocesc de tot în mijlocul poporului şi adunării!”

I am at the brink of utter ruin in the assembled congregation.”

Saját kutadból igyál vizet; és saját forrásod közepéből folyóvizet!

Igyál vizet a te kútadból, és a te forrásod közepiből folyóvizet.

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

Bea apă din fântâna ta şi din izvoarele puţului tău.

Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.

Kifolyjanak-e forrásaid, az utcákra áradjanak-e vízfolyásaid?

Kifolyjanak-é a te forrásid, az utczákra a te vized folyásai?

Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

Ce, vrei să ţi se verse izvoarele afară? Şi să-ţi curgă râurile pe pieţele de obşte?

Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets?

Egyedül tieid legyenek, és kívüled senki máséi.

Egyedül tied legyenek, és nem az idegenekéi veled.

Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

Lasă-le să fie numai pentru tine, şi nu pentru străinii de lângă tine.

Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.

Legyen áldott a forrásod, és örvendezz ifjúságod feleségének.

Legyen a te forrásod áldott, és örvendezz a te ifjúságod feleségének.

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Izvorul tău să fie binecuvântat, şi bucură-te de nevasta tinereţii tale.

Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,

Szerelmes szarvasünő és kedves zerge ő, keblei elégítsenek meg téged minden időben, és az ő szerelmében gyönyörködjél szüntelen.

A szerelmes szarvas, és kedves zerge; az ő emlői elégítsenek meg téged minden időben, az ő szerelmében gyönyörködjél szüntelen.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Cerboaică iubită, căprioară plăcută: fii îmbătat tot timpul de drăgălăşiile ei, fii îndrăgostit necurmat de dragostea ei!

a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.

Miért keresnél gyönyört, fiam, egy paráznánál, és miért ölelnéd egy idegen keblét?

És miért bujdosnál, fiam, az idegen után, és ölelnéd keblét az idegennek?

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

Şi pentru ce, fiule, ai fi îndrăgostit de o străină şi ai îmbrăţişa sânul unei necunoscute?

Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?

Mert az ÚR szeme előtt van minden ember útja, és minden ösvényüket ő egyengeti.

Mert az Úrnak szemei előtt vannak mindenkinek útai, és minden ösvényeit ő rendeli.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

Căci căile omului sunt lămurite înaintea ochilor Domnului şi El vede toate cărările lui.

For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his paths.

Tulajdon álnokságai fogják meg az istentelent, és saját bűnének kötelei kötözik meg őt.

A maga álnokságai fogják meg az istentelent, és a saját bűnének köteleivel kötöztetik meg.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

Cel rău este prins în înseşi nelegiuirile lui şi este apucat de legăturile păcatului lui.

The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.

Meghal az ilyen fenyítés híján, és sok bolondsága miatt támolyog.

Ő meghal fenyíték híján, és bolondságának sokasága miatt támolyog.

He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

El va muri din lipsă de înfrânare, se va poticni din prea multa lui nebunie.

He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.
