Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Cine iubeşte certarea, iubeşte ştiinţa; dar cine urăşte mustrarea este prost. –

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

Nem erősödik meg az ember istentelensége révén, az igazaknak pedig nem mozdul ki a gyökerük.

Nem erősül meg ember az istentelenséggel; az igazaknak pedig gyökerök ki nem mozdul.

A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

Omul de bine capătă bunăvoinţa Domnului, dar Domnul osândeşte pe cel plin de răutate.

A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but a man of evil devices he condemns.

A derék asszony koronája férjének, de mint csontjaiban a rothadás, olyan a szégyentelen.

A derék asszony koronája az ő férjének; de mint az ő csontjaiban való rothadás, [olyan] a megszégyenítő.

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

Omul nu se întăreşte prin răutate, dar rădăcina celor neprihăniţi nu se va clătina. –

No one is established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved.

Az igazak gondolatai helyesek, de az istentelenek tanácsa félrevezető.

Az igazaknak gondolatjaik igazak; az istentelenek tanácsa csalás.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

O femeie cinstită este cununa bărbatului ei, dar cea care-i face ruşine este ca putregaiul în oasele lui. –

An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.

Az istentelenek beszédei vér után leselkednek, az igazakat azonban megszabadítja szájuk.

Az istenteleneknek beszédei leselkednek a vér után; az igazaknak pedig szája megszabadítja azokat.

The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Gândurile celor neprihăniţi nu sunt decât dreptate, dar sfaturile celor răi nu sunt decât înşelăciune. –

The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

Leomlanak az istentelenek és odalesznek, az igazak háza pedig megáll.

Leomlanak az istentelenek, és oda lesznek; az igazak háza pedig megáll.

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

Cuvintele celor răi sunt nişte curse ca să verse sânge, dar gura celor fără prihană îi izbăveşte. –

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright delivers them.

Értelmessége szerint dicsérik a férfit, de aki kiforgatja a szavakat, azt megutálják.

Az ő értelme szerint dicsértetik a férfiú; de az elfordult elméjű útálatos lesz.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Cei răi sunt răsturnaţi şi nu mai sunt, dar casa celor neprihăniţi rămâne în picioare!

The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand.

Jobb annak, akit kevésre tartanak, de szolgája van, mint annak, aki fölmagasztalja magát, de kenyérszűkében van.

Jobb, a kit kevésre tartanak, és szolgája van, mint a ki magát felmagasztalja, és szűk kenyerű.

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

Un om este preţuit după măsura priceperii lui, dar cel cu inima stricată este dispreţuit. –

A man is commended according to his good sense, but one of twisted mind is despised.

Az igaz jószága érzését is ismeri, az istentelenek szíve azonban kegyetlen.

Az igaz az ő barmának érzését [is] ismeri, az istentelenek szíve pedig kegyetlen.

He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

Mai bine să fii într-o stare smerită şi să ai o slugă, decât să faci pe fudulul şi să n-ai ce mânca. –

Better to be lowly and have a servant than to play the great man and lack bread.

Aki műveli a földjét, annak elegendő eledele lesz, aki pedig hiábavalóságokat követ, az bolond.

A ki míveli az ő földét, megelégedik eledellel; a ki pedig követ hiábavalókat, bolond az.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Cel neprihănit se îndură de vite, dar inima celui rău este fără milă.

Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

Az istentelen a gonoszsággal ejtett zsákmányt kívánja, de az igaznak gyökere gyümölcsöt terem.

Kivánja az istentelen a gonoszok prédáját; de az igaznak gyökere ád [gyümölcsöt.]

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

Cine-şi lucrează ogorul va avea belşug de pâine, dar cine umblă după lucruri de nimic este fără minte. –

Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.

A gonoszt csapdába ejtik vétkes ajkai, de az igaz megmenekül a nyomorúságból.

Az ajkaknak vétkében gonosz tőr van, de kimenekedik a nyomorúságból az igaz.

The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

Cel rău pofteşte prada celor nelegiuiţi, dar rădăcina celor neprihăniţi rodeşte. –

Whoever is wicked covets the spoil of evildoers, but the root of the righteous bears fruit.

Szája gyümölcséből elégedik meg az ember jóval, és keze munkája megtérül neki.

Az ő szájának gyümölcséből elégedik meg a férfi jóval; és az ő cselekedetének fizetését veszi az ember önmagának.

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

În păcătuirea cu buzele este o cursă primejdioasă, dar cel neprihănit scapă din bucluc. –

An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble.

A bolondnak útja helyes a maga szemében, de aki elfogadja a tanácsot, az bölcs.

A bolondnak úta helyes az ő szeme előtt, de a ki tanácscsal él, bölcs az.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Prin rodul gurii te saturi de bunătăţi, şi fiecare primeşte după lucrul mâinilor lui. –

From the fruit of his mouth a man is satisfied with good, and the work of a man’s hand comes back to him.

A bolond haragját azonnal fölismerik, az értelmes pedig elrejti szégyenét.

A bolondnak haragja azon napon megismertetik; elfedezi pedig a szidalmat az eszes ember.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Calea nebunului este fără prihană în ochii lui, dar înţeleptul ascultă sfaturile. –

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

Aki igazat szól, felfedi az igazságot, a hamis tanú pedig álnokul beszél.

A ki igazán szól, megjelenti az igazságot, a hamis bizonyság pedig az álnokságot.

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

Nebunul îndată îşi dă pe faţă mânia, dar înţeleptul ascunde ocara. –

The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.

A meggondolatlan szavak szúrnak, mint a tőrdöfés, de a bölcsek nyelve orvosság.

Van olyan, a ki beszél hasonlókat a tőrszúrásokhoz; de a bölcseknek nyelve orvosság.

He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Cine spune adevărul face o mărturisire dreaptă, dar martorul mincinos vorbeşte înşelăciune. –

Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.

Az igazmondó ajak mindvégig állhatatos, a hazug nyelv pedig csak egy szempillantásig.

Az igazmondó ajak megáll mind örökké; a hazugságnak pedig nyelve egy szempillantásig.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

Cine vorbeşte în chip uşuratic, răneşte ca străpungerea unei săbii, dar limba înţelepţilor aduce vindecare. –

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Álnokság van a gonoszat forralók szívében, de akik békességet tanácsolnak, azokéban vigasság.

Álnokság van a gonosz gondolóknak szívében; a békességnek tanácsosiban pedig vígasság.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Buza care spune adevărul este întărită pe vecie, dar limba mincinoasă nu stă decât o clipă. –

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Nem éri bántás az igazat, de az istentelenek tele vannak nyavalyával.

Nem vettetik az igaz semmi bántásba; az istentelenek pedig teljesek nyavalyával.

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

Înşelătoria este în inima celor ce cugetă răul, dar bucuria este pentru cei ce sfătuiesc la pace. –

Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy.

Utálatos az ÚR szemében a hazug ajak, de a hűségesekben gyönyörködik.

Útálatosok az Úrnál a csalárd beszédek; a kik pedig cselekesznek hűségesen, kedvesek ő nála.

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

Nicio nenorocire nu se întâmplă celui neprihănit, dar cei răi sunt năpădiţi de rele. –

No ill befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.

Az eszes ember elrejti a tudását, a bolondok elméje pedig kikiáltja a bolondságot.

Az eszes ember elfedezi a tudományt; a bolondok elméje pedig kikiáltja a bolondságot.

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Buzele mincinoase sunt urâte Domnului, dar cei ce lucrează cu adevăr Îi sunt plăcuţi. –

Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight.

A szorgalmasok keze uralkodik, a rest viszont rabszolga lesz.

A gyorsaknak keze uralkodik; a rest pedig adófizető lesz.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

Omul înţelept îşi ascunde ştiinţa, dar inima nebunilor vesteşte nebunia. –

A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly.

Szívének aggódása lesújtja az embert, a jó szó pedig megvidámítja.

A férfiúnak elméjében való gyötrelem megalázza azt; a jó szó pedig megvidámítja azt.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Mâna celor harnici va stăpâni, dar mâna leneşă va plăti bir. –

The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.

Útba igazítja felebarátját az igaz, de az istenteleneket eltévelyíti útjuk.

Útba igazítja az ő felebarátját az igaz; de az istentelenek útja eltévelyíti őket.

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Neliniştea din inima omului îl doboară, dar o vorbă bună îl înveseleşte. –

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

Nem süti meg a rest a maga fogta vadat, de a serény embernek drága kincse van.

Nem süti meg a rest, a mit vadászásával fogott; de drága marhája az embernek serénysége.

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Cel neprihănit arată prietenului său calea cea bună, dar calea celor răi îi duce în rătăcire. –

One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Az igazság útján élet van, de a téves ösvény halálba visz.

Az igazságnak útjában van élet; és az ő ösvényének úta halhatatlanság.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Leneşul nu-şi frige vânatul, dar comoara de preţ a unui om este munca. –

Whoever is slothful will not roast his game, but the diligent man will get precious wealth.

In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Pe cărarea neprihănirii este viaţa, şi pe drumul însemnat de ea nu este moarte. –
