Jobb a feddhetetlenül élő szegény a rossznyelvűnél, aki bolond.

Jobb a tökéletesen járó szegény a gonosz nyelvűnél, a ki bolond.

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Mai mult preţuieşte săracul care umblă în neprihănirea lui, decât un bogat cu buze stricate şi nebun. –

Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool.

Tudás nélkül nem jó egy léleknek sem, és aki csak a lábával siet, hibázik.

A lélek sem jó tudomány nélkül; és a ki [csak] a lábával siet, hibázik.

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

Lipsa de ştiinţă este o pagubă pentru cineva, şi cine aleargă neghiobeşte înainte o nimereşte rău. –

Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.

Az ostobaság rossz útra téríti az embert, szíve mégis az ÚRra haragszik.

Az embernek bolondsága fordítja el az ő útát, és az Úr ellen haragszik az ő szíve.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Nebunia omului îi suceşte calea, şi apoi cârteşte împotriva Domnului cu inima lui. –

When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the LORD.

A gazdagság sok barátot szerez, a szegénytől pedig eltávolodik a barátja.

A gazdagság szaporítja a sok barátot; a szegénytől pedig az ő barátja elválik.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Bogăţia aduce un mare număr de prieteni, dar săracul este părăsit de prietenul lui. –

Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.

A hamis tanú nem marad büntetlen, és a hazugságokat mondó nem megy el szabadon.

A hamis tanú büntetetlen nem marad, és a hazugságoknak szólója meg nem szabadul.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Martorul mincinos nu rămâne nepedepsit, şi cel ce spune minciuni nu va scăpa. –

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.

Sokan hízelegnek a nemes lelkű embernek, és az adakozónak mindenki barátja.

Sokan hizelegnek a nemeslelkű embernek, és minden barát az adakozóé.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Omul darnic are mulţi linguşitori şi toţi sunt prieteni cu cel ce dă daruri. –

Many seek the favor of a generous man, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.

A szegényt minden testvére gyűlöli, de még inkább eltávolodnak tőle a barátai; szavaival unszolná őket, de eltűntek.

A szegényt minden atyjafia gyűlöli, még barátai is eltávolodnak tőle; unszolja szavakkal, de ők eltünnek.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Toţi fraţii săracului îl urăsc; cu cât mai mult se depărtează prietenii lui de el! El se îndreaptă spre ei cu vorbe rugătoare, dar ei se fac nevăzuţi. –

All a poor man’s brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.

Aki értelmet szerez, szereti az életét; aki megőrzi az ismeretet, jót nyert.

A ki értelmet szerez, szereti az életét, a ki megőrzi az értelmességet, jót nyer.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

Cine capătă înţelepciune, îşi iubeşte sufletul; cine păstrează priceperea, găseşte fericirea. –

Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.

Nem marad büntetlen a hamis tanú, és elvész az, aki hazugságokat beszél.

A hamis bizonyság nem marad büntetlen, és a ki hazugságokat beszél, elvész.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Martorul mincinos nu rămâne nepedepsit, şi cel ce spune minciuni va pieri. –

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.

Nem illik a bolondhoz a fényűzés, még kevésbé illik a szolgának uralkodni a fejedelmeken.

Nem illik a bolondhoz a gyönyörködés; sokkal inkább nem [illik] a szolgának uralkodni a fejedelmeken.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

Unui nebun nu-i şade bine să trăiască în desfătări, cu atât mai puţin unui rob să stăpânească peste voievozi. –

It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.

Az embert az értelme hosszútűrővé teszi, és ékességére van, ha nem rója fel a vétket.

Az embernek értelme hosszútűrővé teszi őt; és ékességére van néki elhallgatni a vétket.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Înţelepciunea face pe om răbdător şi este o cinste pentru el să uite greşelile. –

Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

Mint ifjú oroszlán ordítása, olyan a király haragja, de mint harmat a füvön, olyan a jóakarata.

Mint az ifjú oroszlánnak ordítása, olyan a királynak haragja; mint a harmat pedig a füvön, az ő jóakaratja.

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Mânia împăratului este ca răcnetul unui leu, şi bunăvoinţa lui este ca roua pe iarbă. –

A king’s wrath is like the growling of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

A bolond fiú romlást hoz apjára; és mint a szüntelen csepegés, olyan az asszony zsémbelődése.

Romlása az ő atyjának a bolond fiú, és mint a szüntelen csepegés, az asszonynak zsémbelődése.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

Un fiu nebun este o nenorocire pentru tatăl său, şi o nevastă gâlcevitoare este ca o streaşină de pe care picură întruna. –

A foolish son is ruin to his father, and a wife’s quarreling is a continual dripping of rain.

A ház és a vagyon atyai örökség, de az ÚRtól van az értelmes feleség.

A ház és marha atyától való örökség; az Úrtól van pedig az értelmes feleség.

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Casa şi averea le moştenim de la părinţi, dar o nevastă pricepută este un dar de la Domnul. –

House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

A lustaság álomba merít, és a lomha lélek megéhezik.

A restség álomba merít, és a lomha lélek megéhezik.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

Lenea te cufundă într-un somn adânc, şi sufletul molatic suferă de foame.”

Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.

Aki megtartja a parancsolatot, saját életét tartja meg, de aki nem vigyáz az útjaira, meghal.

A ki megtartja a parancsolatot, megtartja ő magát; a ki nem vigyáz útaira, meghal.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Cine păzeşte porunca, îşi păzeşte sufletul; cine nu veghează asupra căii sale, va muri. –

Whoever keeps the commandment keeps his life; he who despises his ways will die.

Az ÚRnak ad kölcsön, aki könyörül a szegényen, és ő megfizet neki jótéteményéért.

Kölcsön ád az Úrnak, a ki kegyelmes a szegényhez; és az ő jótéteményét megfizeti néki.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Cine are milă de sărac, împrumută pe Domnul, şi El îi va răsplăti binefacerea. –

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.

Fenyítsd meg fiadat, míg van remény felőle, de haragodban pusztulását ne akard.

Fenyítsd meg a te fiadat, mert még van remény [felőle;] de annyira, hogy őt megöld, ne vigyen haragod.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Pedepseşte-ţi fiul, căci tot mai este nădejde, dar nu dori să-l omori. –

Discipline your son, for there is hope; do not set your heart on putting him to death.

A nagy haragú ember fizessen büntetést, mert ha mentegeted, csak növeled haragját.

A nagy haragú [ember] büntetést szenvedjen, mert ha menteni akarod, még növeled [haragját.]

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

Cel pe care-l apucă mânia trebuie să-şi ia pedeapsa; căci, dacă-l scoţi din ea, va trebui să mai faci o dată lucrul acesta. –

A man of great wrath will pay the penalty, for if you deliver him, you will only have to do it again.

Hallgass a tanácsra, és fogadd meg az intést, hogy végre bölcs légy.

Engedj a tanácsnak, és vedd be az erkölcsi oktatást; hogy bölcs légy végre.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Ascultă sfaturile şi primeşte învăţătura ca să fii înţelept pe viitor! –

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

Sok gondolat van az ember szívében, de csak az ÚR tanácsa áll meg.

Sok gondolat van az ember elméjében; de csak az Úrnak tanácsa áll meg.

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Omul face multe planuri în inima lui, dar hotărârea Domnului, aceea se împlineşte. –

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

Amit az embertől leginkább kívánnak, az a jóság, és jobb a szegény ember a hazugnál.

A mit leginkább kell embernek kivánni, az irgalmasság az, és jobb a szegény a hazug férfiúnál.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

Ceea ce face farmecul unui om este bunătatea lui; şi mai mult preţuieşte un sărac decât un mincinos. –

What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar.

Az ÚR félelme életre visz; az ilyen elégedetten tölti az éjszakát, és nem éri baj.

Az Úrnak félelme életre visz; és [az ilyen] megelégedve tölti az éjet, gonoszszal nem illettetik.

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Frica de Domnul duce la viaţă, şi cel ce o are petrece noaptea sătul, fără să fie cercetat de nenorocire. –

The fear of the LORD leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.

A lusta bemártja ugyan kezét a tálba, de már a szájához nem viszi.

Bemártja a rest az ő kezét a tálba, de már a szájához nem viszi vissza.

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Leneşul îşi vâră mâna în strachină şi n-o duce înapoi la gură. –

The sluggard buries his hand in the dish and will not even bring it back to his mouth.

Ha megvered a csúfolódót, az együgyű okul belőle; ha megdorgálod az eszest, felfogja annak értelmét.

Ha a csúfolót megvered, az együgyű lesz okosabb; és ha megdorgálod az eszest, megérti a tudományt.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Loveşte pe batjocoritor, şi prostul se va face înţelept; mustră pe omul priceput, şi va înţelege ştiinţa. –

Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.

Gyalázatos és szégyentelen fiú, aki apjával erőszakoskodik, vagy anyját elűzi.

A ki atyjával erőszakoskodik, anyját elűzi: gyalázatos és megszégyenítő fiú az.

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

Cine jefuieşte pe tatăl său şi izgoneşte pe mama sa, este un fiu care aduce ruşine şi ocară. –

He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who brings shame and reproach.

Fiam, ha nem hallgatsz a tanításra, eltévelyedsz a bölcsesség igéjétől.

Szünjél meg, fiam, hallgatni az olyan tanítást, [mely téged arra visz], hogy a bölcseségnek igéjétől eltévedj.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Încetează, fiule, să mai asculţi învăţătura, dacă ea te depărtează de învăţăturile înţelepte. –

Cease to hear instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

A semmirevaló tanú csúfot űz a törvényből, az istentelenek szája csak úgy nyeli a gonoszságot.

A semmirevaló bizonyság csúfolja a törvényt; az istentelenek szája elnyeli a gonoszságot.

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

Un martor stricat îşi bate joc de dreptate, şi gura celor răi înghite nelegiuirea. –

A worthless witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.

A csúfolókat készen várja a büntetésük, és a bolondok hátát várják az ütések.

A csúfolóknak készíttettek a büntetések, és az ütések a bolondok hátának.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

Pedepsele sunt pregătite pentru batjocoritori, şi loviturile pentru spinările nebunilor. –

Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and beating for the backs of fools.
