He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Un om care se împotriveşte tuturor mustrărilor va fi zdrobit deodată şi fără leac. –

He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Când se înmulţesc cei buni, poporul se bucură, dar când stăpâneşte cel rău, poporul geme. –

When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

Aki szereti a bölcsességet, megvidámítja apját, aki pedig a paráznákhoz csatlakozik, elveszti vagyonát.

A bölcseség-szerető ember megvidámítja az ő atyját; a ki pedig a paráznákhoz adja magát, elveszti a vagyont.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

Cine iubeşte înţelepciunea înveseleşte pe tatăl său, dar cine umblă cu curvele risipeşte averea. –

He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

Igazsággal erősíti meg a király az országot, de aki ajándékot fogad el, az romlásra juttatja.

A király igazsággal erősíti meg az országot; a ki pedig ajándékot vesz, elrontja azt.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

Un împărat întăreşte ţara prin dreptate, dar cine ia mită, o nimiceşte. –

By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts tears it down.

Aki hízeleg barátjának, hálót vet annak lába elé.

A férfiú, a ki hizelkedik barátjának, hálót vet annak lábai elé.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

Cine linguşeşte pe aproapele său îi întinde un laţ sub paşii lui. –

A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

A gonosz embert csapdába ejti a vétke, az igaz pedig énekel és vigad.

A gonosz ember vétkében tőr van; az igaz pedig énekel és vígad.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

În păcatul omului rău este o cursă, dar cel bun biruie şi se bucură. –

An evil man is ensnared in his transgression, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.

Az igaz megérti a szegények ügyét, az istentelen azonban nem tudja megérteni.

Megérti az igaz a szegényeknek ügyét; az istentelen pedig nem tudja megérteni.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Cel bun pricepe pricina săracilor, dar cel rău nu poate s-o priceapă. –

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

A csúfolódó emberek lángra lobbantják a várost, de a bölcsek elfordítják a haragot.

A csúfoló férfiak fellobbantják a várost; de a bölcsek elfordítják a haragot.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

Cei uşuratici aprind focul în cetate, dar înţelepţii potolesc mânia. –

Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath.

Amikor az eszes ember bolonddal vitázik, a bolond vagy fölháborodik, vagy nevet, de nem nyugszik meg.

Az eszes ember, ha vetekedik a bolonddal, akár felháborodik, akár nevet, nincs nyugodalom.

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

Când se ceartă un înţelept cu un nebun, să se tot supere sau să tot râdă, căci pace nu se face. –

If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

A vérszomjas emberek gyűlölik a feddhetetlent, az igazak pedig oltalmazzák annak életét.

A vérszomjasak gyűlölik a tökéletes embert; az igazak pedig oltalmazzák annak életét.

The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

Oamenii setoşi de sânge urăsc pe omul fără prihană, dar oamenii fără prihană îi ocrotesc viaţa. –

Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless and seek the life of the upright.

Minden indulatát szabadon engedi a bolond, de a bölcs végül lecsöndesíti azt.

Az ő egész indulatját előmutatja a bolond; de a bölcs végre megcsendesíti azt.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

Nebunul îşi arată toată patima, dar înţeleptul o stăpâneşte. –

A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

Amelyik uralkodó hallgat a hazug beszédre, annak minden szolgája vétkessé lesz.

A mely uralkodó a hamisságnak beszédire hallgat, annak minden szolgái latrok.

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Când cel ce stăpâneşte dă ascultare cuvintelor mincinoase, toţi slujitorii lui sunt nişte răi. –

If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.

A szegény és az uzsorás emberben ez a közös: mindkettőjük szemének az ÚR adhat világosságot.

A szegény és az uzsorás ember összetalálkoznak; mind a kettőnek pedig szemeit az Úr világosítja meg.

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Săracul şi asupritorul se întâlnesc, dar Domnul le luminează ochii la amândoi.

The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.

Amelyik király igazságosan ítéli a szegényeket, annak trónja mindörökké megáll.

A mely király hűségesen ítéli a szegényeket, annak széke mindörökké megáll.

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

Un împărat care judecă pe săraci după adevăr, îşi va avea scaunul de domnie întărit pe vecie. –

If a king faithfully judges the poor, his throne will be established forever.

A vessző és dorgálás bölcsességet ad, de a szabadjára engedett gyermek szégyent hoz anyjára.

A vessző és dorgálás bölcseséget ád; de a szabadjára hagyott gyermek megszégyeníti az ő anyját.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Nuiaua şi certarea dau înţelepciunea, dar copilul lăsat de capul lui face ruşine mamei sale. –

The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

Mikor fölemelkednek az istentelenek, elhatalmasodik a bűn, de az igazak megérik az ő elbukásukat.

Mikor nevekednek az istentelenek, nevekedik a vétek; az igazak pedig azoknak esetét megérik.

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

Când se înmulţesc cei răi, se înmulţeşte şi păcatul, dar cei buni le vor vedea căderea. –

When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will look upon their downfall.

Fenyítsd meg fiadat, és nyugodt lehetsz felőle, gyönyörűséget szerez lelkednek.

Fenyítsd meg a te fiadat, és nyugodalmat hoz néked, és szerez gyönyörűséget a te lelkednek.

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Pedepseşte-ţi fiul, şi el îţi va da odihnă şi îţi va aduce desfătare sufletului. –

Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart.

Ha nincs mennyei látás, elvadul a nép, de boldog lesz, ha megtartja a törvényt.

Mikor nincs [mennyei] látás, a nép elvadul; ha pedig megtartja a törvényt, oh mely igen boldog!

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Când nu este nicio descoperire dumnezeiască, poporul este fără frâu; dar ferice de poporul care păzeşte Legea! –

Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.

Csak beszédből nem tanul a szolga, ha érti is azt, nem törődik vele.

[Csak] beszéddel nem tanul meg a szolga, mert tudna, de még sem felel meg.

A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

Nu prin vorbe se pedepseşte un rob, căci chiar dacă pricepe, n-ascultă. –

By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.

Láttál-e elhamarkodottan szóló embert? A bolond felől több reménység van, mint felőle.

Láttál-é beszédeiben hirtelenkedő embert? a bolond felől több reménység van, hogynem a felől!

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Dacă vezi un om care vorbeşte nechibzuit, poţi să nădăjduieşti mai mult de la un nebun decât de la el. –

Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Ha a szolgát gyermekkorától fogva kényeztetik, végül ő lesz a fiú.

A ki lágyan neveli gyermekségétől fogva az ő szolgáját, végre az lesz a fiú.

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

Slujitorul pe care-l răsfeţi din copilărie, la urmă ajunge de se crede fiu. –

Whoever pampers his servant from childhood will in the end find him his heir.

A haragos ember viszályt szít, és az indulatosnak sok a vétke.

A haragos háborgást szerez; és a dühösködőnek sok a vétke.

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Un om mânios stârneşte certuri, şi un înfuriat face multe păcate. –

A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression.

Az embert megalázza kevélysége, de az alázatost tisztelet övezi.

Az embernek kevélysége megalázza őt; az alázatos pedig tisztességet nyer.

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Mândria unui om îl coboară, dar cine este smerit cu duhul capătă cinste. –

One’s pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.

Aki osztozkodik a tolvajjal, önmagát gyűlöli; hallja az esküdözést, de nem tesz jelentést.

A ki osztozik a lopóval, gyűlöli az magát; hallja az esküt, de nem vall.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

Cine împarte cu un hoţ îşi urăşte viaţa, aude blestemul şi nu spune nimic. –

The partner of a thief hates his own life; he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.

Az emberektől való félelem csapdába ejt, de aki az ÚRban bízik, azt ő megvédi.

Az emberektől való félelem tőrt vet; de a ki bízik az Úrban, kiemeltetik.

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Frica de oameni este o cursă, dar cel ce se încrede în Domnul n-are de ce să se teamă. –

The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.

Sokan járulnának a fejedelem elé, pedig az ÚR ítél meg mindenkit.

Sokan keresik a fejedelemnek orczáját; de az Úrtól [van] kinek-kinek ítélete.

Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

Mulţi umblă după bunăvoinţa celui ce stăpâneşte, dar Domnul este acela care face dreptate fiecăruia.

Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the LORD that a man gets justice.

Utálják az igazak a hamis embert, és utálják az istentelenek az igaz úton járót.

Iszonyat az igazaknak a hamis ember; és iszonyat az istentelennek az igaz úton járó.

An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Omul nelegiuit este o scârbă înaintea celor neprihăniţi, dar cel ce umblă fără prihană este o scârbă înaintea celor răi.

An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
