Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Femeia înţeleaptă îşi zideşte casa, iar femeia nebună o dărâmă cu înseşi mâinile ei. –

The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.

Aki egyenesen jár, féli az URat, aki pedig letér útjáról, az megveti őt.

A ki igazán jár, féli az Urat; a ki pedig elfordult az ő útaiban, megútálja őt.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

Cine umblă cu neprihănire, se teme de Domnul, dar cine apucă pe căi strâmbe, Îl nesocoteşte. –

Whoever walks in uprightness fears the LORD, but he who is devious in his ways despises him.

A bolond szájában a kevélység botja van, de a bölcseket megőrzi ajkuk.

A bolondnak szájában van kevélységnek pálczája; a bölcseknek pedig beszéde megtartja őket.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

În gura nebunului este o nuia pentru mândria lui, dar pe înţelepţi îi păzesc buzele lor. –

By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.

Mikor nincsenek ökrök, üres a jászol; de bő lesz a termés az ökör erejétől.

Mikor nincsenek ökrök: tiszta a jászol; a gabonának bősége pedig az ökörnek erejétől van.

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Unde nu sunt boi, ieslea rămâne goală, dar puterea boilor aduce belşug de roade. –

Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.

Az igaz tanú nem hazudik, a hamis tanú szája pedig hazugságot szól.

A hűséges tanú nem hazud; a hamis tanú pedig hazugságot bocsát szájából.

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

Un martor credincios nu minte, dar un martor mincinos spune minciuni. –

A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

A csúfolódó bölcsességet keres, de nem talál, az eszes azonban könnyen jut ismerethez.

A csúfoló keresi a bölcseséget, és nincs; a tudomány pedig az eszesnek könnyű.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

Batjocoritorul caută înţelepciunea şi n-o găseşte, dar pentru omul priceput ştiinţa este lucru uşor. –

A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy for a man of understanding.

Kerüld az ostobát, mert értelmes beszédet nála nem találsz.

Menj el a bolond férfiú elől; és nem ismerted meg a tudománynak beszédét.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Depărtează-te de nebun, căci nu pe buzele lui vei găsi ştiinţa. –

Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.

Az eszes bölcsessége az, hogy meggondolja útját, a bolondok pedig bolondul tévelyegnek.

Az eszesnek bölcsesége az ő útának megértése; a bolondoknak pedig bolondsága csalás.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

Înţelepciunea omului chibzuit îl face să vadă pe ce cale să meargă, dar nebunia celor nesocotiţi îi înşală pe ei înşişi. –

The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deceiving.

A bolond gúnyt űz a bűnből, az igazak között pedig jóakarat van.

A bolondokat megcsúfolja a bűnért való áldozat; az igazak között pedig jóakarat van.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Cei nesocotiţi glumesc cu păcatul, dar între cei fără prihană este bunăvoinţă. –

Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance.

A szív ismeri a maga keserűségét, és örömében idegen nem részes.

A szív tudja az ő lelke keserűségét; és az ő örömében az idegen nem részes.

The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

Inima îşi cunoaşte necazurile şi niciun străin nu se poate amesteca în bucuria ei. –

The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.

Az istentelenek háza elvész, de az igazak sátra virul.

Az istenteleneknek háza elvész; de az igazaknak sátora megvirágzik.

The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

Casa celor răi va fi nimicită, dar cortul celor fără prihană va înflori. –

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

Van olyan út, amely helyesnek látszik az ember előtt, de végül halálra vezet.

Van olyan út, [mely] helyesnek látszik az ember előtt, és vége a halálra menő út.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Multe căi pot părea bune omului, dar la urmă se văd că duc la moarte. –

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Nevetés közben is fájhat a szív, és szomorúságra fordulhat az öröm is.

Nevetés közben is fáj a szív; és végre az öröm fordul szomorúságra.

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

De multe ori chiar în mijlocul râsului inima poate fi mâhnită, şi bucuria poate sfârşi prin necaz. –

Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.

Útjaival megelégedett a romlott szívű, és a jó is elégedett a sajátjával.

Az ő útaiból elégszik meg az elfordult elméjű; önmagából pedig a jó férfiú.

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Cel cu inima rătăcită se satură de căile lui, şi omul de bine se satură şi el de ce este în el. –

The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.

Az együgyű minden dolgot elhisz, az eszes azonban vigyáz lépteire.

Az együgyű hisz minden dolognak; az eszes pedig a maga járására vigyáz.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

Omul lesne crezător crede orice vorbă, dar omul chibzuit ia seama bine cum merge. –

The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.

A bölcs fél, és ezért kerüli a gonoszt, a bolond viszont nemtörődöm és elbizakodott.

A bölcs félvén, eltávozik a gonosztól; a bolond pedig dühöngő és elbizakodott.

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Înţeleptul se teme şi se abate de la rău, dar nesocotitul este îngâmfat şi fără frică. –

One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.

A hirtelen haragú bolondságot cselekszik, és a cselszövőt meggyűlölik.

A hirtelen haragú bolondságot cselekszik, és a cselszövő férfi gyűlölséges lesz.

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Cine este iute la mânie face prostii, şi omul plin de răutate se face urât. –

A man of quick temper acts foolishly, and a man of evil devices is hated.

Az esztelenek bolondságot örökölnek, az értelmeseket pedig tudás koszorúzza.

Bírják az esztelenek a bolondságot örökség szerint; az eszesek pedig fonják a tudománynak koszorúját.

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Cei proşti au parte de nebunie, dar oamenii chibzuiţi sunt încununaţi cu ştiinţă. –

The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Meghajolnak majd a gonoszok a jók előtt, és a hamisak az igaz ember kapujánál.

Meghajtják magokat a gonoszok a jók előtt, és a hamisak az igaznak kapujánál.

The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Cei răi se pleacă înaintea celor buni, şi cei nelegiuiţi înaintea porţilor celui neprihănit. –

The evil bow down before the good, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

A szegényt még társa is gyűlöli, a gazdagnak pedig sok barátja van.

Még az ő felebarátjánál is útálatos a szegény; a gazdagnak pedig sok a barátja.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

Săracul este urât chiar şi de prietenul său, dar bogatul are foarte mulţi prieteni. –

The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the rich has many friends.

Aki megveti felebarátját, vétkezik, de boldog, aki a szegényekkel irgalmasan bánik.

A ki megútálja az ő felebarátját, vétkezik; a ki pedig a szegényekkel kegyelmességet cselekszik, boldog az!

He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Cine dispreţuieşte pe aproapele său face un păcat, dar ferice de cine are milă de cei nenorociţi. –

Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.

Nemde tévelyegnek, akik gonoszt forralnak? Ám kegyelem és igazság lesz részük azoknak, akik jóra igyekeznek.

Nemde tévelyegnek, a kik gonoszt szereznek? kegyelmesség pedig és igazság a jó szerzőknek.

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

În adevăr, cei ce gândesc rău se rătăcesc, dar cei ce gândesc binele lucrează cu bunătate şi credincioşie.

Do they not go astray who devise evil? Those who devise good meet steadfast love and faithfulness.

Minden munkából származik nyereség, de a sok beszédből csak szűkölködés.

Minden munkából nyereség lesz; de az ajkaknak beszédéből csak szűkölködés.

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Oriunde se munceşte este şi câştig, dar oriunde numai se vorbeşte, este lipsă. –

In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

A bölcseknek ékességük a gazdagságuk; a tudatlanok bolondsága pedig csak bolondság.

A bölcseknek ékességök az ő gazdagságuk; a tudatlanok bolondsága [pedig csak] bolondság.

The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Bogăţia este o cunună pentru cei înţelepţi, dar cei nesocotiţi n-au altceva decât nebunie. –

The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the folly of fools brings folly.

Lelkeket ment meg az igaz tanú, az álnok pedig hazugságot szól.

Lelkeket szabadít meg az igaz bizonyság; hazugságokat szól pedig az álnok.

A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Martorul care spune adevărul scapă suflete, dar cel înşelător spune minciuni. –

A truthful witness saves lives, but one who breathes out lies is deceitful.

Aki az URat féli, biztos oltalma van, és fiainak is menedékül lesz az.

Az Úrnak félelmében erős a bizodalom, és az ő fiainak lesz menedéke.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Cine se teme de Domnul are un sprijin tare în El, şi copiii lui au un loc de adăpost la El. –

In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

Az ÚR félelme az élet forrása a halál tőrének elkerülésére.

Az Úrnak félelme az életnek kútfeje, a halál tőrének eltávoztatására.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Frica de Domnul este un izvor de viaţă, ea ne fereşte de cursele morţii. –

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.

A sok nép a király dicsősége, a nép elfogyása pedig az uralkodó romlása.

A nép sokasága a király dicsősége; a nép elfogyása pedig az uralkodó romlása.

In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Mulţimea poporului este slava împăratului, lipsa poporului este pieirea voievodului. –

In a multitude of people is the glory of a king, but without people a prince is ruined.

Aki késedelmes a haragra, nagyon értelmes, aki pedig türelmetlen, az bolondságot követ el.

A haragra késedelmes bővelkedik értelemmel; a ki pedig elméjében hirtelenkedő, bolondságot szerez az.

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Cine este încet la mânie are multă pricepere, dar cine se aprinde iute, face multe prostii. –

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

A szelíd szív a test élete, az irigység pedig a csontok rothadása.

A szelíd szív a testnek élete; az irígység pedig a csontoknak rothadása.

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

O inimă liniştită este viaţa trupului, dar pizma este putrezirea oaselor. –

A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.

Aki elnyomja a szegényt, gyalázza annak Teremtőjét, aki pedig tiszteli őt, az könyörül a szűkölködőn.

A ki elnyomja a szegényt, gyalázattal illeti annak teremtőjét; az pedig tiszteli, a ki könyörül a szűkölködőn.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Cine asupreşte pe sărac, batjocoreşte pe Ziditorul său, dar cine are milă de cel lipsit, cinsteşte pe Ziditorul său. –

Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.

Saját gonoszsága buktatja el az istentelent, az igaznak pedig még halálakor is van reménysége.

Az ő nyavalyájába ejti magát az istentelen; az igaznak pedig halála idején is reménysége van.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Cel rău este doborât de răutatea lui, dar cel neprihănit chiar şi la moarte trage nădejde. –

The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death.

Az eszes ember szívében bölcsesség nyugszik, de az is hamar kitudódik, ami az ostobákban rejlik.

Az eszesnek elméjében nyugszik a bölcseség; a mi pedig a tudatlanokban [van,] magát [hamar] megismerheti.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

Înţelepciunea se odihneşte într-o inimă pricepută, dar în mijlocul celor nesocotiţi ea se dă de gol. –

Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools.

Az igazság fölmagasztalja a nemzetet, a bűn pedig szégyenükre van a népeknek.

Az igazság felmagasztalja a nemzetet; a bűn pedig gyalázatára van a népeknek.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Neprihănirea înalţă pe un popor, dar păcatul este ruşinea popoarelor. –

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

A király jóakarattal van az eszes szolga iránt, de a haszontalanra haragszik.

A királynak jóakaratja van az eszes szolgához; haragja pedig a megszégyenítőhöz.

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

Un împărat are plăcere de un slujitor chibzuit, dar pe cel de ocară îl atinge mânia lui.

A servant who deals wisely has the king’s favor, but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.
