A bor csúfolódóvá tesz, a részegítő ital pedig hangoskodóvá, és nem bölcs, aki tántorog tőle.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Vinul este batjocoritor, băuturile tari sunt gălăgioase; oricine se îmbată cu ele nu este înţelept. –

Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

Mint a fiatal oroszlán ordítása, olyan a király haragja; aki őt haragra ingerli, saját élete ellen vét.

Mint a fiatal oroszlán ordítása, olyan a királynak rettentése; a ki azt haragra ingerli, vétkezik a maga élete ellen.

The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

Frica pe care o insuflă împăratul este ca răcnetul unui leu, cine îl supără, păcătuieşte împotriva sa însuşi. –

The terror of a king is like the growling of a lion; whoever provokes him to anger forfeits his life.

Tisztességére válik az embernek, ha távol tartja magát a versengéstől, de aki bolond, az belekeveredik.

Tisztesség az embernek elmaradni a versengéstől; valaki pedig bolond, patvarkodik.

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Este o cinste pentru om să se ferească de certuri; dar orice nebun se lasă stăpânit de aprindere. –

It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.

A hideg miatt nem szánt a rest; de ha majd aratni akar, nem lesz mit.

A hideg miatt nem szánt a rest; aratni akar majd, de nincs mit.

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Toamna, leneşul nu ară; la secerat, ar vrea să strângă roade, dar nu este nimic! –

The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing.

Mély víz az ember szívének szándéka, de a bölcs ember kimeregeti azt.

Mély víz a férfiúnak elméjében a tanács; mindazáltal a bölcs ember kimeríti azt.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Sfaturile în inima omului sunt ca nişte ape adânci, dar omul priceput ştie să scoată din ele. –

The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Sok ember mondja magáról, hogy ő jó, de megbízható embert ki találhat?

A legtöbb ember talál valakit, a ki jó hozzá; de hű embert, azt ki találhat?

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Mulţi oameni îşi trâmbiţează bunătatea; dar cine poate găsi un om credincios? –

Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?

Feddhetetlenül él az igaz ember, boldogok a fiai is, akik követik.

A ki az ő tökéletességében jár, igaz ember; boldogok az ő fiai ő utána!

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

Cel neprihănit umblă în neprihănirea lui; ferice de copiii lui după el! –

The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!

Ha ítélőszékében ül a király, szemével minden gonoszt különválaszt.

A király, ha az ő ítélőszékiben ül, tekintetével minden gonoszt eltávoztat.

A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

Împăratul, care şade pe scaunul de domnie al dreptăţii, risipeşte orice rău cu privirea lui. –

A king who sits on the throne of judgment winnows all evil with his eyes.

Ki mondhatná azt: megtisztítottam szívemet, tiszta vagyok a bűnömtől?

Ki mondhatná azt: megtisztítottam szívemet, tiszta vagyok az én bűnömtől?

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Cine poate zice: „Mi-am curăţat inima, sunt curat de păcatul meu”? –

Who can say, “I have made my heart pure; I am clean from my sin”?

A kétféle súly és a kétféle mérték: mindkettő egyformán utálatos az ÚR szemében.

A kétféle font és a kétféle mérték, útálatos az Úrnál egyaránt mind a kettő.

Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

Două feluri de greutăţi şi două feluri de măsuri sunt o scârbă înaintea Domnului. –

Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the LORD.

Cselekedeteiből ismerhető meg még a gyermek is, hogy tiszta-e, és hogy igaz-e cselekedete.

Az ő cselekedetiből ismerteti meg magát még a gyermek is, ha tiszta-é, és ha igaz-é az ő cselekedete.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Copilul lasă să se vadă încă din faptele lui dacă purtarea lui va fi curată şi fără prihană. –

Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.

A halló fület és a látó szemet egyaránt az ÚR teremtette.

A halló fület és a látó szemet, az Úr teremtette egyaránt mindkettőt.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Urechea care aude şi ochiul care vede, şi pe una şi pe celălalt, Domnul le-a făcut. –

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the LORD has made them both.

Ne szeresd az alvást, mert elszegényedsz; nyisd ki a szemed, és jóllakhatsz kenyérrel.

Ne szeresd az álmot, hogy ne légy szegény; nyisd fel a te szemeidet, [és] megelégszel kenyérrel.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

Nu iubi somnul, căci vei ajunge sărac; deschide ochii şi te vei sătura de pâine. –

Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread.

Hitvány, hitvány! – mondja a vevő, de amikor elmegy, akkor már dicsekszik.

Hitvány, hitvány, azt mondja a vevő; de mikor elmegy, akkor dicsekedik.

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

„Rău! Rău!” zice cumpărătorul, şi plecând, se fericeşte. –

“Bad, bad,” says the buyer, but when he goes away, then he boasts.

Van sok arany és drágagyöngy, de a tudással teljes ajak a legértékesebb kincs.

Van arany és drágagyöngyök sokasága; de drága szer a tudománynyal teljes ajak.

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

Este aur şi sunt multe mărgăritare; dar buzele înţelepte sunt un lucru scump. –

There is gold and abundance of costly stones, but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

Vedd el a ruháját annak, aki az ismeretlenért kezességet vállal, végy zálogot tőle az idegenért.

Vedd el ruháját, mert kezes lett másért, és az idegenért vedd el zálogát.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

Ia-i haina, căci s-a pus chezaş pentru altul; şi ţine-l zălog pentru alţii. –

Take a man’s garment when he has put up security for a stranger, and hold it in pledge when he puts up security for foreigners.

Élvezetes az embernek az álnokság kenyere, de végül kaviccsal telik meg a szája.

Gyönyörűséges az embernek az álnokságnak kenyere; de annakutána betelik az ő szája kavicsokkal.

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

Pâinea minciunii este dulce omului, dar mai pe urmă gura îi este plină de pietriş. –

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel.

Tanácskozás erősíti meg a terveket, bölcs vezetéssel folytass hadviselést.

A gondolatok tanácskozással erősek; és bölcs vezetéssel folytass hadakozást.

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Planurile se pun la cale prin sfat! Fă războiul cu chibzuinţă. –

Plans are established by counsel; by wise guidance wage war.

A pletykálkodó elárulja a titkot, tehát ne barátkozz a fecsegő szájúval!

Megjelenti a titkot, a ki rágalmazó; tehát a ki fecsegő szájú, azzal ne barátkozzál.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Cine umblă cu bârfe dă pe faţă lucrurile ascunse; şi cu cel ce nu-şi poate ţine gura să nu te amesteci. –

Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.

Aki apját vagy anyját átkozza, annak a legnagyobb sötétségben alszik ki lámpása.

A ki az ő atyját vagy anyját megátkozza, annak kialszik szövétneke a legnagyobb setétségben.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

Dacă cineva blestemă pe tatăl său şi pe mama sa, i se va stinge lumina în mijlocul întunericului. –

If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.

Amelyik örökséget ideje előtt siettetik, azon végül nem lesz áldás.

A mely örökséget először siettetnek, annak vége meg nem áldatik.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

O moştenire repede câştigată de la început, nu va fi binecuvântată la sfârşit. –

An inheritance gained hastily in the beginning will not be blessed in the end.

Ne mondd: visszafizetem a rosszat! Várd az URat, és ő megszabadít téged!

Ne mondd: bosszút állok rajta! Várjad az Urat, és megszabadít téged!

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Nu zice: „Îi voi întoarce eu răul!” Nădăjduieşte în Domnul, şi El te va ajuta. –

Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the LORD, and he will deliver you.

Utálatos az ÚR szemében a kétféle súly, és a hamis mérleg nem jó dolog.

Útálatos az Úrnál a kétféle súly; és a hamis fontok nem jó dolgok.

Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Domnul urăşte două feluri de greutăţi, şi cântarul mincinos nu este un lucru bun. –

Unequal weights are an abomination to the LORD, and false scales are not good.

Az ÚR irányítja az ember járását; mit ért az ember a maga útjából?

Az Úrtól vannak a férfi lépései; az ember pedig mit ért az ő útában?

Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

Domnul îndreaptă paşii omului, dar ce înţelege omul din calea sa?

A man’s steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?

Meggondolatlanul odaszentelni valamit: csapda az ember számára, mert a fogadalomtétel után már hiába gondolja meg magát.

Tőr az embernek meggondolatlanul mondani: szent, és a fogadástétel után megfontolni.

It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

Este o cursă pentru om să facă în pripă o făgăduinţă sfântă, şi abia după ce a făcut juruinţa să se gândească. –

It is a snare to say rashly, “It is holy,” and to reflect only after making vows.

A bölcs király szétszórja a gonoszokat, és kerékkel hajt át rajtuk.

Szétszórja a gonoszokat a bölcs király, és fordít reájok kereket.

A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

Un împărat înţelept vântură pe cei răi şi trece cu roata peste ei. –

A wise king winnows the wicked and drives the wheel over them.

Az ember lelke az ÚR mécsese, amely megvizsgálja bensőjének minden rejtekét.

Az Úrtól való szövétnek az embernek lelke, a ki megvizsgálja a szívnek minden rejtekét.

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Suflarea omului este o lumină a Domnului, care pătrunde până în fundul măruntaielor. –

The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all his innermost parts.

A kegyelem és az igazság megőrzi a királyt, és irgalmassága által erősíti meg a székét.

A kegyelmesség és az igazság megőrzik a királyt, megerősíti irgalmasság által az ő székét.

Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

Bunătatea şi credincioşia păzesc pe împărat, şi el îşi întăreşte scaunul de domnie prin bunătate. –

Steadfast love and faithfulness preserve the king, and by steadfast love his throne is upheld.

Az ifjak ékessége az erejük, az öregek dísze az ősz haj.

Az ifjaknak ékessége az ő erejök; és a véneknek dísze az ősz haj.

The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.

Slava tinerilor este tăria, dar podoaba bătrânilor sunt perii albi. –

The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.

A kék foltok és a sebek távolítják el a gonoszt és a belső részekig ható csapások.

A kékek [és] a sebek távoztatják el a gonoszt, és a belső részekig ható csapások.

The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

Mijloacele de vindecare pentru cel rău sunt bătăile şi vânătăile până la rană. –

Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts.
