Az önfejű ember a maga kívánsága után jár, és indulatossá válik minden bölcs dologgal szemben.

A maga kivánsága után megy az agyas ember, minden igaz bölcseség ellen dühösködik.

Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

Cel ursuz caută ce-i place lui, se supără de orice lucru bun. –

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.

A bolond nem gyönyörködik az értelemben, csak abban, hogy saját gondolatát közölje.

Nem gyönyörködik a bolond az értelemben, hanem abban, hogy az ő elméje nyilvánvalóvá legyen.

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Nebunului nu-i este de învăţătură, ci vrea să arate ce ştie el. –

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.

Ahová betér az istentelen, jön vele a megvetés is, és a szégyennel együtt jár a gyalázat.

Mikor eljő az istentelen, eljő a megútálás; és a szidalommal a gyalázat.

When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

Când vine cel rău, vine şi dispreţul; şi odată cu ruşinea, vine şi ocara. –

When wickedness comes, contempt comes also, and with dishonor comes disgrace.

Mély víz az ember szájának beszéde, buzogó patak a bölcseségnek kútfeje.

The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

Cuvintele gurii unui om sunt ca nişte ape adânci; izvorul înţelepciunii este ca un şuvoi care curge întruna. –

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

Nem jó dolog kedvezni a gonosz embernek, sem kiforgatni az igaz ember jogát.

A gonosz személyének kedvezni nem jó, elfordítani az igazat az ítéletben.

It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

Nu este bine să ai încredere în faţa celui rău, ca să nedreptăţeşti pe cel neprihănit la judecată. –

It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice.

A bolond ajka viszályt szít, és szája ütésekért kiált.

A bolondnak beszédei szereznek versengést, és az ő szája ütésekért kiált.

A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

Vorbele nebunului aduc ceartă, şi gura lui înjură până stârneşte lovituri. –

A fool’s lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating.

A bolondnak saját szája a romlása, és szája tulajdon életét csalja tőrbe.

A bolondnak szája az ő romlása, és az ő beszédei az ő életének tőre.

A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

Gura nebunului îi aduce pieirea, şi buzele îi sunt o cursă pentru suflet. –

A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

A pletykálkodó szavai ínyencfalatok, és bejutnak az ember bensőjébe.

A susárlónak beszédei hizelkedők; és azok a szív belsejét áthatják.

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

Cuvintele bârfitorului sunt ca prăjiturile: alunecă până în fundul măruntaielor. –

The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.

Aki hanyagul végzi feladatát, az testvére annak, aki tönkretesz.

A ki lágyan viseli magát az ő dolgában, testvére annak, a ki tönkre tesz.

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Cine se leneveşte în lucrul lui este frate cu cel ce nimiceşte. –

Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Numele Domnului este un turn tare; cel neprihănit fuge în el şi stă la adăpost. –

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

A gazdagnak vagyona az erős városa, és magas kőfalnak véli.

A gazdagnak vagyona az ő erős városa, és mint a magas kőfal, az ő gondolatja szerint.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

Averea este o cetate întărită, pentru cel bogat; în închipuirea lui, ea este un zid înalt. –

A rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his imagination.

Pusztulása előtt az ember szíve fölfuvalkodik, a tisztesség előtt pedig alázatosság van.

A megromlás előtt felfuvalkodik az ember elméje; a tisztesség előtt pedig alázatosság van.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

Înainte de pieire, inima omului se îngâmfă, dar smerenia merge înaintea slavei. –

Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.

Aki arra felel, amit még meg sem hallgatott, az bolond, és szégyen éri.

A ki felel valamit, míg meg nem hallja, ez bolondság és gyalázatos rá nézve.

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Cine răspunde fără să fi ascultat, face o prostie şi îşi trage ruşinea. –

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.

Az ember lelke elviseli a maga betegségét, de a megtört lelket ki hordozhatja el?

A férfiú lelke elviseli a maga erőtlenségét; de a megtört lelket ki viseli el?

The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

Duhul omului îl sprijină la boală; dar duhul doborât de întristare, cine-l va ridica? –

A man’s spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?

Az eszes ember szíve tudást szerez, és a bölcsek füle ismeretet keres.

Az eszesnek elméje tudományt szerez, és a bölcseknek füle tudományt keres.

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

O inimă pricepută dobândeşte ştiinţa, şi urechea celor înţelepţi caută ştiinţa. –

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Az ajándék szabad utat készít az embernek, és a hatalmasok színe elé juttatja.

Az embernek ajándéka szabad útat szerez néki, és a nagyoknak orczája elé viszi őt.

A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

Darurile unui om îi fac loc şi-i deschid intrarea înaintea celor mari. –

A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.

Igaza lehet annak, aki első a perben, míg el nem jön az ellenfele, és megcáfolja őt.

Igaza van annak, a ki első a perben; mígnem eljő az ő peresfele, és megvizsgálja őt.

He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

Cel care vorbeşte întâi în pricina lui, pare că are dreptate, dar vine celălalt şi-l ia la cercetare. –

The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.

The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.

Sorţul pune capăt neînţelegerilor şi hotărăşte între cei puternici.

The lot puts an end to quarrels and decides between powerful contenders.

A fölingerelt testvér tántoríthatatlanabb az erős városnál, és az ilyen viszály olyan, mint a váron a zár.

A felingerelt atyafiú [erősb] az erős városnál, és [az ilyen] versengések olyanok, mint a vár zárja.

A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Fraţii nedreptăţiţi sunt mai greu de câştigat decât o cetate întărită, şi certurile lor sunt tot aşa de greu de înlăturat ca zăvoarele unei case împărăteşti. –

A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.

Szája gyümölcséből lakik jól az ember, beszéde termésével elégedik meg.

A férfi szájának hasznával elégedik meg az ő belseje; az ő beszédének jövedelmével lakik jól.

A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Din rodul gurii lui îşi satură omul trupul, din venitul buzelor lui se satură.

From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.

A nyelv hatalmában van a halál és az élet is, és ki mint szeret vele élni, úgy eszi annak gyümölcsét.

Mind a halál, mind az élet a nyelv hatalmában [van], és a [miképen] kiki szeret azzal élni, [úgy ]eszi annak gyümölcsét.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Moartea şi viaţa sunt în puterea limbii; oricine o iubeşte, îi va mânca roadele. –

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Jót talált, aki feleséget talált, és elnyerte az ÚR jóakaratát.

Megnyerte a jót, a ki talált feleséget, és vett jóakaratot az Úrtól!

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Cine găseşte o nevastă bună găseşte fericirea; este un har pe care-l capătă de la Domnul. –

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.

Alázatosan könyörög a szegény, a gazdag azonban keményen felel.

Alázatos kérést szól a szegény; a gazdag pedig keményen felel.

The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.

Săracul vorbeşte rugându-se, dar bogatul răspunde cu asprime. –

The poor use entreaties, but the rich answer roughly.

A sok barát tönkreteszi az embert, de van olyan barát, aki ragaszkodóbb a testvérnél.

Az ember, a kinek [sok] barátja van, széttöretik; de van barát, a ki ragaszkodóbb a testvérnél.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Cine îşi face mulţi prieteni, îi face spre nenorocirea lui, dar este un prieten care ţine mai mult la tine decât un frate. –

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
