Halljátok meg, fiaim, atyátok erkölcsi tanítását, és figyelmezzetek az értelemnek megtudására.

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

Ascultaţi, fiilor, învăţătura unui tată şi luaţi aminte, ca să pricepeţi;

Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight,

Jó tanulságot adok nektek, ne hagyjátok el útmutatásomat!

Mert jó tanulságot adok néktek; az én tudományomat el ne hagyjátok.

For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

căci eu vă dau sfaturi bune: nu lepădaţi învăţătura mea.

for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching.

Amikor még mint fiú atyámnál voltam, gyenge és egyetlen gyermek anyám előtt,

Mert én atyámnak fia voltam, gyenge és egyetlenegy az én anyám előtt.

For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

Căci când eram încă fiu la tatăl meu şi fiu gingaş şi singur la mama mea,

When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother,

tanított engem, és azt mondta nekem: Szívedben őrizd beszédemet, tartsd meg parancsaimat, és élni fogsz.

Tehát tanított engem, és mondá nékem: tartsa meg az én beszédemet a te elméd, hogy megtartván az én parancsolatimat, élj;

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

el mă învăţa atunci şi-mi zicea: „Păstrează bine în inima ta cuvintele mele, păzeşte învăţăturile mele şi vei trăi!

he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.

Szerezz bölcsességet, szerezz eszességet; ne felejtkezz el szavaimról, és ne hajolj el azoktól.

Szerezz bölcseséget, szerezz eszességet; ne felejtkezzél el, se el ne hajolj az én számnak beszéditől.

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Dobândeşte înţelepciune, dobândeşte pricepere; nu uita cuvintele gurii mele şi nu te abate de la ele.

Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

Ne mellőzd azt, és majd megtart téged, szeresd azt, és megőriz téged.

Ne hagyd el azt, és megtart téged; szeresd azt, és megőriz téged.

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

N-o părăsi, şi ea te va păzi; iubeşte-o, şi te va ocroti!

Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.

A bölcsesség kezdete ez: tégy szert bölcsességre, és minden szerzeményeden szerezz tudást.

A bölcseség kezdete [ez:] szerezz bölcseséget, és minden keresményedből szerezz értelmet.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Iată începutul înţelepciunii: dobândeşte înţelepciunea, şi cu tot ce ai, dobândeşte priceperea.

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

Tartsd nagyra azt, és fölmagasztal téged; tiszteletet hoz neked, ha magadhoz öleled.

Magasztald fel azt, és felmagasztal téged; tiszteltté tesz téged, ha hozzád öleled azt.

Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

Înalţă-o, şi ea te va înălţa; ea va fi slava ta, dacă o vei îmbrăţişa.

Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.

A kedvesség koszorúját teszi fejedre, igen szép, ékes koronát ad neked.

Ád a te fejednek kedvességnek koszorúját; igen szép ékes koronát ád néked.

She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Ea îţi va pune pe cap o cunună plăcută, te va împodobi cu o strălucită cunună împărătească.”

She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.”

Hallgasd, fiam, és fogadd be beszédeimet, így sokasodnak meg életed évei.

Hallgasd, fiam, és vedd be az én beszédimet; így sokasulnak meg néked a te életednek esztendei.

Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Ascultă, fiule, primeşte cuvintele mele, şi anii vieţii tale se vor înmulţi.

Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.

A bölcsességnek útjára tanítottalak, igaz ösvényen vezettelek téged.

Bölcseségnek útára tanítottalak téged, vezettelek téged az igazságnak ösvényin.

I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

Eu îţi arăt calea înţelepciunii, te povăţuiesc pe cărările neprihănirii.

I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.

Jártodban semmi sem gátolja lépteidet, és ha futsz, nem botlasz meg.

Mikor jársz, semmi nem szorítja meg a te járásodat; és ha futsz, nem ütközöl meg.

When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

Când vei umbla, pasul nu-ţi va fi stânjenit; şi când vei alerga, nu te vei poticni.

When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.

Ragaszkodj az erkölcsi tanításhoz, ne hagyd el, hanem őrizd meg azt, mert az a te életed.

Ragaszkodjál az erkölcsi tanításhoz, ne hagyd el; őrizd meg azt, mert az a te életed.

Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

Ţine învăţătura, n-o lăsa din mână; păstrează-o, căci ea este viaţa ta.

Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.

Ne lépj a hitetlenek útjára, a gonoszok ösvényén ne járj!

A hitetleneknek útjára ne menj, se ne járj a gonoszok ösvényén.

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Nu intra pe cărarea celor răi şi nu umbla pe calea celor nelegiuiţi!

Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.

Hagyd el azt, ne menj át rajta, térj el tőle, és menj tovább!

Hagyd el, át ne menj rajta; térj el tőle, és menj tovább.

Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

Fereşte-te de ea, nu trece pe ea; ocoleşte-o şi treci înainte!

Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.

Mert azok még aludni sem tudnak, ha nem tehetnek rosszat; és kimegy szemükből az álom, ha mást romlásra nem juttathatnak.

Mert nem alhatnak azok, ha gonoszt nem cselekesznek: és kimegy szemükből az álom, ha [mást] romlásra nem juttatnak.

For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

Căci ei nu dorm dacă n-au făcut răul, le piere somnul dacă nu fac pe cineva să cadă;

For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble.

Mert az istentelenség kenyerét eszik, és az erőszakosság borát isszák.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

căci ei mănâncă pâine nelegiuită şi beau vin stors cu sila.

Az igazak ösvénye pedig olyan, mint a hajnal világossága, mely minél tovább halad, annál világosabb lesz a teljes délig.

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Dar cărarea celor neprihăniţi este ca lumina strălucitoare, a cărei strălucire merge mereu crescând până la miezul zilei.

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Calea celor răi este ca întunericul gros: ei nu văd de ce se vor poticni.

The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

Fiam, figyelj szavaimra, fordítsd füledet beszédeimhez!

Fiam, az én szavaimra figyelmezz, az én beszédimre hajtsad füledet.

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Fiule, ia aminte la cuvintele mele, pleacă-ţi urechea la vorbele mele!

My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.

Ne téveszd szem elől, tartsd meg ezeket az elmédben.

Ne távozzanak el a te szemeidtől, tartsd meg ezeket a te elmédben.

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Să nu se depărteze cuvintele acestea de ochii tăi, păstrează-le în fundul inimii tale!

Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.

Mert élete ez azoknak, akik megnyerik, és egész testüknek egészség.

Mert életök ezek azoknak, a kik megnyerik, és egész testöknek egészség.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Căci ele sunt viaţă pentru cei ce le găsesc şi sănătate pentru tot trupul lor.

For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

Minden féltett dolognál jobban őrizd meg szívedet, mert abból indul ki minden élet.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Păzeşte-ţi inima mai mult decât orice, căci din ea ies izvoarele vieţii.

Vesd el magadtól a száj hamisságát, és az ajkak csalárdságát távolítsd el magadtól.

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Izgoneşte neadevărul din gura ta şi depărtează viclenia de pe buzele tale!

Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.

Szemed előre nézzen, és egyenesen magad elé tekints.

A te szemeid előre nézzenek, és szemöldökid egyenest magad elé irányuljanak.

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Ochii tăi să privească drept, şi pleoapele tale să caute drept înaintea ta.

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.

Egyengesd lábad ösvényét, hogy minden utadon állhatatos lehess.

Egyengesd el lábaid ösvényit, s minden te útaid állhatatosak legyenek.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Cărarea pe care mergi să fie netedă, şi toate căile tale să fie hotărâte:

Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.

Ne térj se jobbra, se balra; fordítsd el lábadat a gonosztól.

Ne térj jobbra, se balra, fordítsd el a te lábadat a gonosztól.

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

nu te abate nici la dreapta, nici la stânga şi fereşte-te de rău.

Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
