The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Gyűjt nyárban az eszes fiú; álomba merül az aratás idején a megszégyenítő fiú.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Cine strânge vara este un om chibzuit, cine doarme în timpul seceratului este un om care face ruşine.

He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.

A ki tökéletességben jár, bátorsággal jár; a ki pedig elferdíti az ő útát, kiismertetik.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Cine umblă fără prihană, umblă fără teamă, dar cine apucă pe căi strâmbe se dă singur de gol. –

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

Cine clipeşte din ochi este o pricină de întristare, şi cine are o gură nesocotită se prăpădeşte singur. –

Whoever winks the eye causes trouble, and a babbling fool will come to ruin.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Înţelepţii păstrează ştiinţa, dar gura nebunului este o pieire apropiată. –

The wise lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings ruin near.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

A rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin.

The wage of the righteous leads to life, the gain of the wicked to sin.

Az élet útján jár, aki hallgat a feddésre, a fenyítést semmibe vevő pedig tévelyeg.

A bölcseség megőrizőnek útja életre van; a fenyítéket elhagyó pedig tévelyeg.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Cine îşi aduce aminte de certare apucă pe calea vieţii; dar cel ce uită mustrarea apucă pe căi greşite. –

Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Binecuvântarea Domnului îmbogăţeşte şi El nu lasă să fie urmată de niciun necaz. –

The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

Ahogy a bolondnak kedvére való időtöltés a bűn cselekvése, úgy az eszes férfinak a bölcs tettek.

Miképen játék a bolondnak bűnt cselekedni, azonképen az eszes férfiúnak bölcsen [cselekedni.]

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Pentru cel nebun este o plăcere să facă răul, dar pentru cel înţelept este o plăcere să lucreze cu pricepere. –

Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.

A mitől retteg az istentelen, az esik ő rajta; a mit pedig kivánnak az igazak, meg lesz.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Celui rău de ce se teme aceea i se întâmplă, dar celor neprihăniţi li se împlineşte dorinţa. –

What the wicked dreads will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is established forever.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Frica de Domnul lungeşte zilele, dar anii celui rău sunt scurtaţi. –

The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.

Az igazak reménysége öröm, az istentelenek várakozása pedig semmibe vész.

Az igazaknak reménysége öröm; az istenteleneknek várakozása pedig elvész.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Aşteptarea celor neprihăniţi nu va fi decât bucurie, dar nădejdea celor răi va pieri. –

The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.

A feddhetetlennek erősség az ÚR útja, de romlás az a hamisságot cselekvőnek.

Erősség a tökéletesnek az Úrnak úta: de romlás a hamisság cselekedőinek.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Calea Domnului este un zid de apărare pentru cel nevinovat, dar este o topenie pentru cei ce fac răul. –

The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

Cel neprihănit nu se va clătina niciodată, dar cei răi nu vor locui în ţară. –

The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

Az igaznak szája bölcsességet áraszt, a gonosz nyelvet pedig kivágják.

Az igaznak szája bőségesen szól bölcsességet; a gonoszság nyelve pedig kivágatik.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

Gura celui neprihănit scoate înţelepciune, dar limba stricată va fi nimicită. –

The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
