Now these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish. And they were among the mighty men who helped him in war.

They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.

They were bowmen and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the left hand; they were Benjaminites, Saul’s kinsmen.

From the Gadites there went over to David at the stronghold in the wilderness mighty and experienced warriors, expert with shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions and who were swift as gazelles upon the mountains:

And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

And some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.

Dávid kiment eléjük, és így szólt hozzájuk: Ha békés szándékkal jöttök, hogy segítségemre legyetek, szívem egy lesz veletek. De ha meg akartok csalni, hogy eláruljatok az ellenségeimnek, holott semmi erőszakot nem követtem el, lássa meg, és büntessen meg titeket atyáink Istene.

És kiméne Dávid elejökbe, és felelvén, monda nékik: Hogyha békesség okáért jöttök hozzám, hogy segítségemre legyetek, az én szívem egy lesz ti veletek; ha pedig meg akartok csalni, [hogy eláruljatok] az én ellenségeimnek, holott semmi gonoszságot nem követtem el: lássa meg a mi atyáink Istene és büntessen meg.

And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come to me in friendship to help me, my heart will be joined to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no wrong in my hands, then may the God of our fathers see and rebuke you.”

Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

Then the Spirit clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.

And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

Some of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. (Yet he did not help them, for the rulers of the Philistines took counsel and sent him away, saying, “At peril to our heads he will desert to his master Saul.”)

As he went to Ziklag, these men of Manasseh deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.

And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

Azonkívül naponként mentek mások is Dávidhoz, hogy segítségére legyenek, míg olyan naggyá lett serege, mint Isten serege.

For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like an army of God.

Szám szerint ezek voltak azok a harcra fölkészített elöljárók, akik Dávidhoz mentek Hebrónba, hogy őt Saul helyett királlyá válasszák az országban Isten ígérete szerint:

And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

These are the numbers of the divisions of the armed troops who came to David in Hebron to turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, according to the word of the LORD.

The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.

The men of Judah bearing shield and spear were 6,800 armed troops.

And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

Mindezek hadakozó férfiak, a viadalra elkészülve, egy értelemmel mentek vala Hebronba, hogy Dávidot az egész Izráel felett királylyá válaszszák, sőt ezeken kivül is az egész Izráel egy szívvel [azon] volt, hogy Dávidot királylyá válaszszák.

All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

Toţi aceşti bărbaţi, oameni de război, gata de luptă, au venit la Hebron cu inima neprefăcută, ca să pună pe David împărat peste tot Israelul. Şi toţi ceilalţi din Israel erau tot cu un gând să facă împărat pe David.

All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with a whole heart to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel were of a single mind to make David king.

És ott maradtak Dáviddal harmadnapig, és ettek és ittak, mert testvéreik gondoskodtak róluk.

És ott maradának Dáviddal harmadnapig, s esznek és isznak vala; mert az ő atyjokfiai készítettek vala nékik;

And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

Au stat acolo trei zile cu David, mâncând şi bând, căci fraţii lor le pregătiseră de mâncare.

And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brothers had made preparation for them.

Még a szomszédságukból és máshonnan is, el egészen Issakárig, Zebulonig és Naftáliig, bőven hoztak kenyeret, eleséget, lisztet, fügét, aszúszőlőt, bort, olajat, vágómarhát, juhokat hoztak szamarakon, tevéken, öszvéreken és ökrökön, mert nagy öröm volt Izráelben.

És úgy a szomszédságukban levők, mint [mások] Izsakhárig, Zebulonig és Nafthaliig hoznak vala kenyereket szamarakon, tevéken, öszvéreken és ökrökön, eleséget, lisztet, fügét, aszuszőlőt, bort, olajat, [vágó]barmokat, juhokat számtalan sokat; mert nagy öröm vala Izráelben.

Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.

Şi chiar cei ce locuiau lângă ei până la Isahar, la Zabulon şi Neftali, aduceau merinde pe măgari, pe cămile, pe catâri şi pe boi: aluaturi, turte de smochine şi de stafide, vin, untdelemn, boi şi oi din belşug, căci era bucurie în Israel.

And also their relatives, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on donkeys and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of flour, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.
