Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.

The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.

Mert azt mondta Dávid: Aki elsőnek vág le egy jebúszit, az elöljáró és vezér lesz! Mivel legelsőnek Jóáb, Cerújá fia jutott föl, ő lett elöljáróvá.

Mert ezt mondotta vala Dávid: A ki legelőször egy Jebuzeust levág, előljáró és vezér legyen. Felméne azért legelőször Joáb, a Séruja fia; és lőn előljáróvá.

And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.

David zisese: „Oricine va bate cel dintâi pe iebusiţi va fi căpetenie şi domn.” Ioab, fiul Ţeruiei, s-a suit cel dintâi, şi a ajuns căpetenie.

David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and commander.” And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, so he became chief.

And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.

And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

And he built the city all around from the Millo in complete circuit, and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

És Dávid egyre jobban emelkedett, mert vele volt a Seregek URa.

So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.

And David became greater and greater, for the LORD of hosts was with him.

These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

Now these are the chiefs of David’s mighty men, who gave him strong support in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

Ezek voltak szám szerint a vitézei, akik körülötte voltak: Jásobám, Hakmóni fia, harminc fő elöljárója. Ő egy ízben, mikor fölemelte dárdáját, háromszáz embert sebesített meg vele.

And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.

This is an account of David’s mighty men: Jashobeam, a Hachmonite, was chief of the three. He wielded his spear against 300 whom he killed at one time.

And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.

And next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite.

He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

El era cu David la Pas-Damim, unde se strânseseră filistenii pentru luptă. Acolo era o bucată de pământ plină cu orz: şi poporul fugea dinaintea filistenilor.

He was with David at Pas-dammim when the Philistines were gathered there for battle. There was a plot of ground full of barley, and the men fled from the Philistines.

And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.

But he took his stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and killed the Philistines. And the LORD saved them by a great victory.

Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.

Dávid vizet kívánt, és így szólt: Ó, ki hozna nekem inni a Betlehem kapuja előtt való forrás vizéből?

Kivána Dávid [vizet,] és monda: Óh, ki adhatna nékem innom a Bethlehem kapuja előtt való forrásnak vizéből!

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

David a avut o dorinţă şi a zis: „Cine-mi va aduce apă de băut din fântâna de la poarta Betleemului?”

And David said longingly, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!”

Akkor keresztülvágták magukat hárman a filiszteusok táborán, és vizet merítettek a betlehemi forrásból, amely a kapu előtt volt, majd fölvitték, és odamentek vele Dávidhoz. De Dávid nem akart inni, hanem kiöntötte azt az ÚRnak.

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD.

Atunci cei trei bărbaţi au trecut prin tabăra filistenilor şi au scos apă din fântâna de la poarta Betleemului. Au adus-o şi au dat-o lui David; dar David n-a vrut s-o bea, ci a vărsat-o înaintea Domnului.

Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David. But David would not drink it. He poured it out to the LORD

Ezt mondta: Az én Istenem őrizzen meg attól, hogy ezt cselekedjem. E férfiak vérét igyam-e meg, akik életüket halálra szánták? Mert ők ezt életük kockáztatásával hozták. És semmiképpen sem akart inni. Ezt cselekedte a három vitéz.

And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

El a zis: „Să mă ferească Dumnezeul meu să fac una ca aceasta! Să beau eu sângele acestor oameni, care s-au dus cu primejdia vieţii lor? Căci cu primejdia vieţii lor au adus-o.” Şi n-a voit s-o bea. Iată ce au făcut aceşti trei viteji.

and said, “Far be it from me before my God that I should do this. Shall I drink the lifeblood of these men? For at the risk of their lives they brought it.” Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

Now Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the thirty. And he wielded his spear against 300 men and killed them and won a name beside the three.

Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.

He was the most renowned of the thirty and became their commander, but he did not attain to the three.

A kabceéli Benájá, Jójádá fia is vitéz férfiú volt, nagy dolgokat cselekedett. Ő vágta le Móáb két bajnokát, ő ment le a verembe, és ölte meg az oroszlánt, amikor egyszer hó esett.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, a doer of great deeds. He struck down two heroes of Moab. He also went down and struck down a lion in a pit on a day when snow had fallen.

And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

El a ucis pe un egiptean care avea o statură de cinci coţi şi avea în mână o suliţă ca sulul unui ţesător; s-a coborât împotriva lui cu un toiag, a smuls suliţa din mâna egipteanului şi l-a ucis cu ea.

And he struck down an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits tall. The Egyptian had in his hand a spear like a weaver’s beam, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff and snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.

Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

He was renowned among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three. And David set him over his bodyguard.
