- Heródesnek, Júdea királyának idejében volt egy Zakariás nevű pap Abijá rendjéből, felesége, Erzsébet pedig Áron leányai közül való volt.

- There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
- În zilele lui Irod, împăratul Iudeii, era un preot, numit Zaharia, din ceata lui Abia. Nevasta lui era din fetele lui Aaron şi se chema Elisabeta.
- In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

- And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

- According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

- according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

- A füstölőáldozat idején a nép sokasága kint imádkozott.

- And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

- And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

- De az angyal azt mondta neki: Ne félj, Zakariás, mert meghallgattatott a te könyörgésed, és feleséged, Erzsébet fiút szül neked, akit Jánosnak fogsz nevezni.

- But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

- For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

- for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.

- és őelőtte jár majd Illés lelkével és erejével, hogy az atyák szívét a fiakhoz, és az engedetleneket az igazak bölcsességére térítse, hogy felkészített népet állítson az Úr elé.

- And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

- and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

- Ekkor Zakariás azt kérdezte az angyaltól: Miről tudhatom ezt meg? Mert én már öreg vagyok, és feleségem is előrehaladott korú.
- És monda Zakariás az angyalnak: Miről tudhatom én ezt meg? mert én vén vagyok, és az én feleségem [is] igen idős.
- And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
- Zaharia a zis îngerului: „Din ce voi cunoaşte lucrul acesta? Fiindcă eu sunt bătrân, şi nevasta mea este înaintată în vârstă.”
- And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.”

- Az angyal pedig így felelt: Én Gábriel vagyok, aki az Isten színe előtt állok, és azért küldettem, hogy beszéljek veled, és meghozzam neked ezt az örömhírt.
- És felelvén az angyal, monda néki: Én Gábriel vagyok, ki az Isten előtt állok; és küldettem, hogy szóljak veled, és ez örvendetes dolgokat jelentsem néked.
- And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

- De mivel nem hittél beszédemnek, amely beteljesedik a maga idejében, most azért megnémulsz, és nem szólhatsz mind ama napig, míg ezek meg nem lesznek.
- És ímé megnémulsz és nem szólhatsz mindama napig, a melyen ezek meglesznek: mivelhogy nem hittél az én beszédimnek, a melyek beteljesednek az ő idejökben.
- And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
- Iată că vei fi mut şi nu vei putea vorbi, până în ziua când se vor întâmpla aceste lucruri, pentru că n-ai crezut cuvintele mele care se vor împlini la vremea lor.”
- And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”

- A nép pedig várta Zakariást, és csodálkozott, hogy késik a templomban.

- And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

- And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering at his delay in the temple.

- És amikor kijött, nem tudott szólni hozzájuk. Ebből megértették, hogy látomást látott a templomban. Csak integetett nekik, és néma maradt.

- And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

- And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

- And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

- And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

- And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

- But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.

- Az angyal azt mondta neki: Ne félj, Mária, mert kegyelmet találtál Isten előtt.
- És monda néki az angyal: Ne félj Mária, mert kegyelmet találtál az Istennél.
- And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

- And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

- És íme, fogansz méhedben, és fiút szülsz, akinek a neve Jézus.

- And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

- And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

- Ő nagy lesz, és a Magasságos Fiának hívják majd, és neki adja az Úr Isten Dávidnak, az ő atyjának trónját,
- Ez nagy lészen, és a Magasságos Fiának hivattatik; és néki adja az Úr Isten a Dávidnak, az ő atyjának, királyi székét;
- He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

- And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

- Mária pedig azt mondta az angyalnak: Hogyan lehetséges ez, hiszen én férfit nem ismerek?

- Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

- And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

- And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

- And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

- And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
- Maria a zis: „Iată, roaba Domnului; facă-mi-se după cuvintele tale!” Şi îngerul a plecat de la ea.
- And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

- And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

- And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

- And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
