Egyszer azt mondták a prófétafiak Elizeusnak: Íme, ez a hely, ahol nálad lakunk, igen szűk nekünk.

És mondának a próféták fiai Elizeusnak: Ímé ez a hely, a hol nálad lakunk, igen szoros nékünk;

And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

Fiii prorocilor au zis lui Elisei: „Iată că locul unde locuim noi cu tine este prea strâmt pentru noi.

Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us.

Hadd menjünk el, kérlek, a Jordánhoz, hogy mindegyikünk hozzon onnan egy-egy szál fát, hogy hajlékot építsünk magunknak, amelyben lakhatunk. Ő azt mondta: Menjetek!

Hadd menjünk el, kérlek, a Jordán mellé, hogy mindenikünk egy-egy fát hozzon onnét, hogy ott valami hajlékot építsünk magunknak, a melyben lakjunk. És monda: Menjetek el!

Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

Haidem până la Iordan; ca să luăm de-acolo fiecare câte o bârnă şi să ne facem acolo un loc de locuit.” Elisei a răspuns: „Duceţi-vă.”

Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there.” And he answered, “Go.”

Egyikük ezt mondta: Légy szíves, jöjj el szolgáiddal. Így válaszolt: Elmegyek.

És monda egy közülök: Nyugodj meg rajta, és jőjj el a te szolgáiddal. És monda: Én is elmegyek.

And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

Şi unul din ei a zis: „Fii bun şi vino cu slujitorii tăi.” El a răspuns: „Voi merge!”

Then one of them said, “Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”

El is ment velük. A Jordán mellé mentek, és ott fákat vágtak.

És elméne velök. És menének a Jordán mellé, és ott fákat vágtak.

So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.

De amikor egyikőjük egy fát akart kivágni, a fejsze vasa beleesett a vízbe. Akkor így kiáltott: Jaj, édes uram! Pedig ezt is kölcsönkértem!

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.”

Az Isten embere megkérdezte: Hová esett? Amikor megmutatta neki a helyet, levágott egy fát, utána dobta, és a fejsze vasa feljött a víz színére.

És monda az Isten embere: Hová esett? És mikor megmutatta néki a helyet, levágott egy fát és utána dobta, és a fejsze feljött a [víz színére.]

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

Omul lui Dumnezeu a zis: „Unde a căzut?” Şi i-a arătat locul. Atunci Elisei a tăiat o bucată de lemn, a aruncat-o în locul acela, şi fierul de la secure a plutit pe apă.

Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.

Ekkor azt mondta: Vedd ki! Erre érte nyúlt, és kivette.

És monda: Vedd ki. És kinyújtván kezét, kivevé azt.

Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

Apoi a zis: „Ridică-l!” Şi a întins mâna şi l-a luat.

And he said, “Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it.

Arám királya pedig hadat indított Izráel ellen. Tanácsot tartott szolgáival, és azt mondta: Itt meg itt lesz a táborom.

Siria királya pedig hadat indított Izráel ellen, és tanácsot tartván az ő szolgáival, monda: Itt meg itt lesz az én táborom.

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.

Împăratul Siriei era în război cu Israel. Şi, într-un sfat pe care l-a ţinut cu slujitorii săi, a zis: „Tabăra mea va fi în cutare loc.”

Once when the king of Syria was warring against Israel, he took counsel with his servants, saying, “At such and such a place shall be my camp.”

Isten embere pedig ezt az üzenetet küldte Izráel királyának: Vigyázz, ne hagyd el azt a helyet, mert ott akarnak az arámok betörni.

És elkülde az Isten embere az Izráel királyához, mondván: Vigyázz, ne hagyd el azt a helyet, mert ott akarnak a siriaiak betörni.

And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

Dar omul lui Dumnezeu a trimis să spună împăratului lui Israel: „Fereşte-te să treci pe lângă locul acela, căci acolo sunt ascunşi sirienii.”

But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.”

Erre Izráel királya embereket küldött arra a helyre, amelyről az Isten embere szólt, és figyelmeztette őt nem egyszer, nem is kétszer, hogy ott vigyázzon magára.

És elkülde az Izráel királya arra a helyre, a melyről néki az Isten embere szólott, és őt megintette volt, és vigyázott magára nem egyszer, sem kétszer.

And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

Şi împăratul lui Israel a trimis nişte oameni să stea la pândă spre locul pe care i-l spusese şi despre care îl înştiinţase omul lui Dumnezeu. Aceasta s-a întâmplat nu o dată, nici de două ori.

And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice.

Fölháborodott ezen az arám király szíve, összegyűjtötte szolgáit, és azt mondta nekik: Miért nem mondjátok meg nekem, hogy ki tart a mieink közül Izráel királyával?

És felháborodott ezen a siriai király szíve, és összegyűjtvén az ő szolgáit, monda nékik: Miért nem mondjátok meg nékem, ki tart közülünk az Izráel királyával?!

Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

Împăratului Siriei i s-a tulburat inima. A chemat pe slujitorii săi şi le-a zis: „Nu voiţi să-mi spuneţi care din noi este pentru împăratul lui Israel?”

And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is for the king of Israel?”

Ekkor egyik szolgája azt mondta: Senki, uram, király. Hanem az izráeli Elizeus próféta megmondja Izráel királyának még azokat a dolgokat is, amelyekről a hálóházadban beszélsz.

Akkor monda egy az ő szolgái közül: Nem úgy, uram király, hanem Elizeus próféta, a ki Izráelben van, jelenti meg az Izráel királyának a beszédeket, a melyeket te a te titkos házadban beszélsz.

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

Unul din slujitorii săi a răspuns: „Nimeni, împărate, domnul meu; dar prorocul Elisei, care este în Israel, spune împăratului lui Israel cuvintele pe care le rosteşti în odaia ta de culcare.”

And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

Erre azt parancsolta: Menjetek el, és nézzetek utána, hol van, hogy érte küldjek, és elhozassam. És jelentették neki: Íme, Dótánban van.

És monda: Menjetek el és nézzétek meg, hol van, hogy utána küldjek és elhozassam őt. És megjelenték néki, mondván: Ímé Dótánban van.

And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

Şi împăratul a zis: „Duceţi-vă şi vedeţi unde este, ca să trimit să-l prindă.” Au venit şi i-au spus: „Iată că este la Dotan.”

And he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him, “Behold, he is in Dothan.”

Akkor lovakat, harci szekereket és nagy sereget küldött oda, akik éjjel érkeztek, és körülvették a várost.

Akkor lovakat, szekereket és nagy sereget külde oda, a kik elmenének éjjel, és körülvevék a várost.

Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

A trimis acolo cai, care şi o oaste puternică. Au ajuns noaptea şi au înconjurat cetatea.

So he sent there horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city.

Amikor Isten emberének szolgája jókor reggel fölkelt, és kiment, íme, már seregek, lovak és harci szekerek vették körül a várost. Ekkor a szolgája így szólt hozzá: Jaj, jaj, édes uram, mit csináljunk?

Felkelvén pedig jókor reggel az Isten emberének szolgája, kiméne, és ímé seregek vették körül a várost, és lovak és szekerek. És monda néki az ő szolgája: Jaj, jaj, [édes] uram! mit cselekedjünk?

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

Slujitorul omului lui Dumnezeu s-a sculat dis-de-dimineaţă şi a ieşit. Şi iată că o oaste înconjura cetatea, cu cai şi care. Şi slujitorul a zis omului lui Dumnezeu: „Ah! domnul meu, cum vom face?”

When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

Ő így felelt: Ne félj, mert többen vannak velünk, mint ővelük.

Felele ő: Ne félj. Mert többen vannak, a kik velünk vannak, mint a kik ő velök.

And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

El a răspuns: „Nu te teme, căci mai mulţi sunt cei cu noi decât cei cu ei.”

He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Majd Elizeus így imádkozott: Ó, URam! Nyisd meg, kérlek, a szemét, hogy lásson! Erre megnyitotta az ÚR a szolga szemét, és az látta, hogy íme, a hegy tele van tüzes lovakkal és harci szekerekkel Elizeus körül.

És imádkozott Elizeus és monda: Óh Uram! nyisd meg kérlek az ő szemeit, hadd lásson. És megnyitá az Úr a szolga szemeit és láta, és ímé a hegy rakva volt tüzes lovagokkal és szekerekkel Elizeus körül.

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Elisei s-a rugat şi a zis: „Doamne, deschide-i ochii să vadă.” Şi Domnul a deschis ochii slujitorului, care a văzut muntele plin de cai şi de care de foc împrejurul lui Elisei.

Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Amikor az arámok lementek ellene, Elizeus így könyörgött az ÚRhoz: Verd meg ezt a népet vaksággal! És meg is verte őket vaksággal Elizeus kívánsága szerint.

És mikor [azok] hozzá lementek, könyörgött Elizeus az Úrnak, mondván: Verd meg ezt a népet vaksággal! És megveré őket vaksággal az Elizeus kivánsága szerint.

And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

Sirienii s-au coborât la Elisei. El a făcut atunci următoarea rugăciune către Domnul: „Loveşte, rogu-Te, pe poporul acesta cu orbire.” Şi Domnul i-a lovit cu orbire, după cuvântul lui Elisei.

And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha.

Elizeus akkor azt mondta nekik: Nem ez az az út, és nem ez az a város! Gyertek utánam, és elvezetlek titeket ahhoz a férfiúhoz, akit kerestek. És elvezette őket Samáriába.

És monda nékik Elizeus: Nem ez az út, sem ez a város; jertek el én utánam, és ahhoz a férfiúhoz vezetlek titeket, a kit kerestek. És elvezeté őket Samariába.

And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

Elisei le-a zis: „Nu este aceasta calea şi nu este aceasta cetatea; veniţi după mine, şi vă voi duce la omul pe care-l căutaţi.” Şi i-a dus la Samaria.

And Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” And he led them to Samaria.

Mikor pedig megérkeztek Samáriába, így szólt Elizeus: Ó, URam, nyisd meg a szemüket, hogy lássanak! És megnyitotta az ÚR a szemüket, és látták, hogy íme, Samária közepén vannak.

És mikor bementek Samariába, monda Elizeus: Óh Uram, nyisd meg ezek szemeit, hogy lássanak. És megnyitá az Úr az ő szemeiket és látának, és ímé Samaria közepében voltak.

And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

Când au intrat în Samaria, Elisei a zis: „Doamne, deschide ochii oamenilor acestora să vadă!” Şi Domnul le-a deschis ochii şi au văzut că erau în mijlocul Samariei.

As soon as they entered Samaria, Elisha said, “O LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see.” So the LORD opened their eyes and they saw, and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

Amikor Izráel királya meglátta őket, azt kérdezte Elizeustól: Megölessem őket, atyám?

Az Izráel királya pedig mikor látta őket, monda Elizeusnak: Vágván vágassam-é őket, atyám?

And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

Împăratul lui Israel, văzându-i, a zis lui Elisei: „Să-i măcelăresc? Să-i măcelăresc, părinte?”

As soon as the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, “My father, shall I strike them down? Shall I strike them down?”

Ő így felelt: Ne ölesd meg. Le szoktad-e vágni azokat, akiket karddal vagy íjjal fogsz el? Adj nekik kenyeret és vizet, hogy egyenek és igyanak, és menjenek el az ő urukhoz.

És monda: Ne vágasd. Le szoktad-é vágatni azokat, a kiket karddal vagy kézívvel fogsz el? Adj nékik kenyeret és vizet, hogy egyenek és igyanak, és elmenjenek az ő urokhoz.

And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

„Să nu-i măcelăreşti”, a răspuns Elisei. „Obişnuieşti tu oare să măcelăreşti pe aceia pe care îi iei prinşi cu sabia şi cu arcul tău? Dă-le pâine şi apă, ca să mănânce şi să bea; apoi să se ducă la stăpânul lor.”

He answered, “You shall not strike them down. Would you strike down those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.”

És nagy lakomát szerzett nekik, és miután ettek és ittak, elbocsátotta őket. Ők pedig elmentek urukhoz. Ettől fogva többé nem jöttek arám portyázó csapatok Izráel földjére.

And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

Împăratul lui Israel le-a dat un prânz mare, şi ei au mâncat şi au băut; apoi le-a dat drumul, şi au plecat la stăpânul lor. Şi oştile sirienilor nu s-au mai întors pe ţinutul lui Israel.

So he prepared for them a great feast, and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the Syrians did not come again on raids into the land of Israel.

Történt ezután, hogy Benhadad, Arám királya összegyűjtötte egész seregét, fölvonult, és ostrom alá vette Samáriát.

And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

Afterward Ben-hadad king of Syria mustered his entire army and went up and besieged Samaria.

Igen nagy éhínség támadt Samáriában, mert addig tartották ostrom alatt a várost, míg egy szamárfej nyolcvan ezüstbe és egy véka galambganéj öt ezüstbe került.

És igen nagy inség lett Samariában, mert addig tartották megszállva a várost, míg egy szamárfej nyolczvan ezüst, és egy véka galambganéj öt ezüst lett.

And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

În Samaria a fost o mare foamete, şi atât de mult au strâmtorat-o încât un cap de măgar preţuia optzeci de sicli de argint, şi un sfert de cab de găinaţ de porumbel cinci sicli de argint.

And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

És amikor Izráel királya a várfalon járt, egy asszony így kiáltott hozzá: Segíts, uram, király!

And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

Şi, pe când trecea împăratul pe zid, o femeie i-a strigat: „Scapă-mă, împărate, domnul meu!”

Now as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”

Ő azonban azt mondta: Ha az ÚR nem segít rajtad, én hogyan segítsek? Tán a szérűről vagy a sajtóból?

A [király] monda: Ha nem segít meg téged az Isten, hogyan segítselek én meg? A szérűről vagy a sajtóról?

And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

El a răspuns: „Dacă nu te scapă Domnul, cu ce să te scap eu? Cu venitul ariei sau al teascului?”

And he said, “If the LORD will not help you, how shall I help you? From the threshing floor, or from the winepress?”

Majd megkérdezte tőle a király: Mi bajod van? Erre ő így válaszolt: Egy asszony azt mondta nekem: Add ide a fiadat, együk meg ma őt, holnap pedig az én fiamat esszük meg.

És monda néki a király: Mit akarsz? Monda az: Ez az asszony azt mondta nékem: Add ide a te fiadat, hogy együk meg őt ma, az én fiamat pedig holnap eszszük meg.

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

Şi împăratul i-a zis: „Ce ai?” Ea a răspuns: „Femeia aceea mi-a zis: „Dă-mi pe fiul tău să-l mâncăm astăzi, şi mâine vom mânca pe fiul meu.”

And the king asked her, “What is your trouble?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

Meg is főztük a fiamat, és megettük. Mikor aztán másnap azt mondtam neki: Add ide a te fiadat, együk meg azt is, ő akkor elrejtette a fiát.

És megfőztük az én fiamat, és megettük őt. Mikor azután másnap azt mondtam néki: Add ide a te fiadat, hogy azt is együk meg, ő elrejté az ő fiát.

So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

Noi am fiert pe fiul meu şi l-am mâncat. Şi în ziua următoare i-am zis: „Dă pe fiul tău să-l mâncăm.” Dar ea a ascuns pe fiul ei.”

So we boiled my son and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him.’ But she has hidden her son.”

Amikor meghallotta a király az asszony beszédét, megszaggatta ruháját, amint a kőfalon járt, és meglátta a nép, hogy íme, alul zsákruha van rajta.

Mikor pedig hallotta a király az asszonynak beszédét, megszaggatá az ő ruháit, a mint a kőfalon járt, és meglátta a nép, hogy ímé alól zsákruha van az ő testén.

And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

Cum a auzit împăratul cuvintele acestei femei, şi-a rupt hainele, când stătea pe zid. Şi poporul a văzut că pe dinăuntru avea un sac de păr pe trup.

When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes—now he was passing by on the wall—and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth beneath on his body—

És így szólt: Úgy cselekedjék velem Isten, és úgy segítsen, hogy Elizeusnak, Sáfát fiának a feje ma nem marad a helyén!

És monda: Úgy cselekedjék velem az Isten és úgy segéljen, ha Elizeusnak, a Sáfát fiának feje ma rajta marad!

Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

Împăratul a zis: „Să mă pedepsească Dumnezeu cu toată asprimea, dacă va rămâne astăzi capul lui Elisei, fiul lui Şafat, pe trupul lui!”

and he said, “May God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders today.”

Elizeus pedig a házában ült, és vele voltak a vének. A király egy férfit küldött el maga előtt. De mielőtt a követ odaért volna hozzá, Elizeus azt mondta a véneknek: Látjátok-e, hogy ez a gyilkos ide küldött, hogy a fejemet vétesse? Vigyázzatok, hogy amikor a követ ideér, zárjátok be az ajtót, és ne engedjétek be, mert urának léptei dobognak őutána.

Elizeus pedig ott ült az ő házában, és együtt ültek vele a vének. És elküldött [a király] egy férfiat maga előtt. Mielőtt azonban hozzá jutott volna a követ, monda [Elizeus] a véneknek: Látjátok-é, hogy az a gyilkos hogyan küld ide, hogy a fejemet vétesse? Vigyázzatok, hogy mikor ide ér a követ, zárjátok be az ajtót és szorítsátok meg őt az ajtóban: Ímé az ő ura lábainak dobogása követi őt.

But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

Elisei şedea în casă, şi bătrânii şedeau lângă el. Împăratul a trimis pe cineva înainte. Când va veni solul, închideţi uşa şi opriţi-l la uşă; nu se aude oare sunetul paşilor stăpânului său în urma lui?”

Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Now the king had dispatched a man from his presence, but before the messenger arrived Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent to take off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

Még beszélt hozzájuk, amikor a követ már odaérkezett hozzá, és nyomában a király, aki ezt mondta: Íme, milyen veszedelem származott az ÚRtól. Miért várjak még tovább az ÚRra?!

És mikor még így beszélne velök, már a követ leérkezett hozzá [és nyomában a király], és monda: Ímé ilyen veszedelem származott az Úrtól; várjak-é még tovább az Úrra?

And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

Pe când le vorbea el încă, solul se şi coborâse la el, şi împăratul a zis: „Iată, răul acesta vine de la Domnul; ce mai am de nădăjduit de la Domnul?”

And while he was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him and said, “This trouble is from the LORD! Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
