Dávid pedig megszámlálta a vele levő népet, és ezredeseket meg századosokat rendelt föléjük.

Megszámlálá pedig Dávid a népet, a mely vele vala, s ezredeseket és századosokat rendele föléjök.

And David numbered the people that were with him, and set captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds over them.

David a numărat poporul care era cu el şi a pus peste ei căpetenii peste mii şi căpetenii peste sute.

Then David mustered the men who were with him and set over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.

A nép harmadrészét Jóábnak, harmadrészét Cerújá fiának, Abisajnak, Jóáb apjának a keze alatt hagyta Dávid, harmadrészét pedig a gáti Ittajra bízta. A király azt mondta a népnek: Bizony én magam is veletek megyek.

És hagyá Dávid a népnek harmadrészét Joáb keze alatt, és harmadrészét Séruja fiának, Abisainak, Joáb atyjafiának keze alatt, harmadrészét pedig [bízá] a Gitteus Ittai kezére. És monda a népnek a király: Bizony én magam is elmegyek veletek.

And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.

A pus o treime din popor sub porunca lui Ioab, o treime sub Abişai, fiul Ţeruiei, fratele lui Ioab, şi o treime sub Itai, din Gat. Şi împăratul a zis poporului: „Vreau să ies şi eu împreună cu voi.”

And David sent out the army, one third under the command of Joab, one third under the command of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and one third under the command of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the men, “I myself will also go out with you.”

De a nép azt mondta: Ne jöjj, mert ha netán megfutamodunk is, velünk nem törődnek, sőt ha a sereg fele meghal is, azzal sem törődnek. De te kiteszel annyit, mint mi tízezren. Jobb tehát, ha a városból leszel a segítségünkre.

De a nép monda: Ne jőjj; mert ha netalán mi megfutamodunk is, velünk nem gondolnak, és ha felerészben meghalunk is, velünk semmit sem gondolnak; de te [teszesz] [anynyit], mint mi tízezeren: jobb azért, hogy te a városból légy nékünk segítségül.

But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.

Dar poporul a zis: „Să nu ieşi! Căci dacă vom lua-o la fugă, luarea aminte nu se va îndrepta asupra noastră; şi când vor cădea jumătate din noi, nu vor lua seama la noi; dar tu eşti ca zece mii dintre noi, şi acum este mai bine să ne vii în ajutor din cetate.”

But the men said, “You shall not go out. For if we flee, they will not care about us. If half of us die, they will not care about us. But you are worth ten thousand of us. Therefore it is better that you send us help from the city.”

Erre azt mondta nekik a király: Azt teszem, amit jónak láttok. Majd megállt a király a kapuban, és az egész sereg kivonult századonként és ezredenként.

Monda azért nékik a király: A mi néktek jónak tetszik, én azt mívelem. Megálla azért a király a kapuban, és az egész sereg megy vala ki százanként és ezerenként.

And the king said unto them, What seemeth you best I will do. And the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands.

Împăratul le-a răspuns: „Voi face ce credeţi că este mai bine.” Şi împăratul a stat lângă poartă, în timp ce tot poporul ieşea cu sutele şi miile.

The king said to them, “Whatever seems best to you I will do.” So the king stood at the side of the gate, while all the army marched out by hundreds and by thousands.

Ezt parancsolta a király Jóábnak, Abisajnak és Ittajnak: Fiammal, Absolonnal kíméletesen bánjatok a kedvemért! Az egész sereg hallotta mindazt, amit a király Absolon felől parancsolt a vezéreinek.

Parancsola pedig a király Joábnak, Abisainak és Ittainak, mondván: Az én fiammal, Absolonnal én érettem kiméletesen bánjatok; hallá pedig ezt mind az egész had, mikor a király mindenik vezérnek parancsola Absolon felől.

And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.

Împăratul a dat următoarea poruncă lui Ioab, lui Abişai şi lui Itai: „Pentru dragostea pe care o aveţi faţă de mine, purtaţi-vă blând cu tânărul Absalom!” Şi tot poporul a auzit porunca împăratului, dată tuturor căpeteniilor cu privire la Absalom.

And the king ordered Joab and Abishai and Ittai, “Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.” And all the people heard when the king gave orders to all the commanders about Absalom.

Azután kivonult a hadinép a mezőre Izráellel szemben, és megütköztek Efraim erdejénél.

So the people went out into the field against Israel: and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim;

So the army went out into the field against Israel, and the battle was fought in the forest of Ephraim.

Ott Dávid szolgái megverték Izráel népét, és nagy volt a veszteség azon a napon, mintegy húszezer ember.

És megvereték ott az Izráel népe a Dávid szolgái által, és nagy veszteség volt ott azon a napon, [mintegy] húszezer emberé.

Where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men.

Acolo, poporul lui Israel a fost bătut de slujitorii lui David şi a fost o mare înfrângere în ziua aceea, ca douăzeci de mii de oameni.

And the men of Israel were defeated there by the servants of David, and the loss there was great on that day, twenty thousand men.

Kiterjedt a harc arra az egész vidékre, és azon a napon a nép közül sokkal többet pusztított el az erdő, mint amennyit a fegyverek.

És kiterjedt a harcz az egész vidékre, és a nép közül sokkal többet emészte meg az erdő, mint a fegyver azon a napon.

For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country: and the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

Lupta s-a întins pe tot ţinutul, şi pădurea a mâncat mai mult popor în ziua aceea decât a mâncat sabia.

The battle spread over the face of all the country, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword.

Egyszer csak Absolon összeakadt Dávid szolgáival. Absolon egy öszvéren ült. Az öszvér bement egy nagy tölgyfa sűrű ágai alá úgy, hogy Absolon fönnakadt a hajánál fogva a tölgyfán, és az ég és a föld között függött, mert az öszvér kiszaladt alóla.

És találkozék Absolon Dávid szolgáival; Absolon pedig egy öszvéren ül vala. És beméne az öszvér a nagy cserfák sürű ágai alá, [hol] fennakadt fejénél fogva egy cserfán, függvén az ég és föld között, az öszvér pedig elszaladt alóla.

And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.

Absalom s-a pomenit în faţa oamenilor lui David. Era călare pe un catâr. Catârul a pătruns sub ramurile încâlcite ale unui mare stejar, şi capul lui Absalom s-a prins de stejar; a rămas astfel spânzurat între cer şi pământ, şi catârul care era sub el a trecut înainte.

And Absalom happened to meet the servants of David. Absalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick branches of a great oak, and his head caught fast in the oak, and he was suspended between heaven and earth, while the mule that was under him went on.

Meglátta ezt egy ember, hírül adta Jóábnak, és ezt mondta: Íme, láttam Absolont egy tölgyfán függeni.

Kit mikor egy ember meglátott, hírül adá Joábnak, és monda: Ímé, láttam Absolont egy cserfán függeni.

And a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.

Un om, văzând lucrul acesta, a venit şi a spus lui Ioab: „Iată, am văzut pe Absalom spânzurat de un stejar.”

And a certain man saw it and told Joab, “Behold, I saw Absalom hanging in an oak.”

Jóáb pedig ezt mondta a hírhozó embernek: Íme, láttad, hát miért nem terítetted le a földre? Az én dolgom lett volna aztán, hogy megajándékozzalak tíz ezüstsékellel és egy övvel.

Monda pedig Joáb az embernek, a ki megmondotta vala néki: Ímé láttad, és miért nem ütötted le ott őt a földre? Az én dolgom lett volna azután, hogy megajándékozzalak tíz ezüst [siklus]sal és egy övvel.

And Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest him, and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a girdle.

Şi Ioab a zis omului care i-a adus ştirea aceasta: „L-ai văzut! De ce, dar, nu l-ai tăiat pe loc? Ţi-aş fi dat zece sicli de argint şi un brâu.”

Joab said to the man who told him, “What, you saw him! Why then did you not strike him there to the ground? I would have been glad to give you ten pieces of silver and a belt.”

Az ember azt mondta Jóábnak: Ha akár ezer ezüstpénzt adnál is a kezembe, nem ölném meg a király fiát, mert fülünk hallatára parancsolta a király neked, Abisajnak és Ittajnak: Kíméljétek meg azt a fiút, Absolont.

Monda az ember Joábnak: Ha mindjárt ezer ezüstpénzt adnál is kezembe, nem ölném meg a király fiát; mert a mi fülünk hallására parancsolá a király néked, Abisainak és Ittainak, ezt mondván: Kiméljétek, bárki [legyen,] az ifjút, Absolont.

And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king's son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.

Dar omul acela a zis lui Ioab: „Chiar dacă aş cântări în mâna mea o mie de sicli de argint, n-aş pune mâna pe fiul împăratului; căci noi am auzit următoarea poruncă pe care ţi-a dat-o împăratul ţie, lui Abişai şi lui Itai: „Luaţi seama fiecare la tânărul Absalom!”

But the man said to Joab, “Even if I felt in my hand the weight of a thousand pieces of silver, I would not reach out my hand against the king’s son, for in our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, ‘For my sake protect the young man Absalom.’

Otherwise I should have wrought falsehood against mine own life: for there is no matter hid from the king, and thou thyself wouldest have set thyself against me.

On the other hand, if I had dealt treacherously against his life (and there is nothing hidden from the king), then you yourself would have stood aloof.”

Jóáb erre azt mondta: Nem akarok miattad késlekedni. Majd három nyilat vett a kezébe, és Absolon szívébe lőtte, mivel még élt a tölgyfán.

Monda azért Joáb: Nem akarok előtted késedelmezni; és vőn három nyilat kezébe és Absolonnak szívébe lövé, minthogy még élt a cserfán.

Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.

Ioab a zis: „Nu voi zăbovi atâta cu tine!” Şi a luat trei săgeţi în mână şi le-a înfipt în inima lui Absalom, care era încă plin de viaţă în mijlocul stejarului.

Joab said, “I will not waste time like this with you.” And he took three javelins in his hand and thrust them into the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the oak.

Akkor körülfogta és levágta Absolont Jóáb tíz fegyverhordozó szolgája, és megölték őt.

And ten young men that bare Joab's armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

Zece tineri, care duceau armele lui Ioab, au înconjurat pe Absalom, l-au lovit şi l-au omorât.

And ten young men, Joab’s armor-bearers, surrounded Absalom and struck him and killed him.

Ekkor Jóáb megfújta a kürtöt, mire visszatért a nép Izráel űzéséből, mert Jóáb kímélni akarta a népét.

Megfúvatá azután a trombitát Joáb, és megtére a nép Izráelnek űzéséből, mert kimélni akará Joáb a népet.

And Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel: for Joab held back the people.

Ioab a sunat din trâmbiţă; şi poporul s-a întors, încetând astfel să mai urmărească pe Israel, oprit de Ioab.

Then Joab blew the trumpet, and the troops came back from pursuing Israel, for Joab restrained them.

Absolont pedig fogták, egy nagy verembe vetették az erdőben, és igen nagy rakás követ dobáltak rá. Egész Izráel elfutott, mindenki a maga otthonába.

Absolont pedig felvevék, és veték őt az erdőn egy nagy verembe, és igen nagy rakás követ hányának reá. És az egész Izráel elmeneküle, kiki az ő sátorába.

And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent.

Au luat pe Absalom, l-au aruncat într-o groapă mare din mijlocul pădurii şi au pus peste el o grămadă foarte mare de pietre. Tot Israelul a fugit, fiecare în cortul lui. –

And they took Absalom and threw him into a great pit in the forest and raised over him a very great heap of stones. And all Israel fled every one to his own home.

Absolon pedig még életében vett és fölállított magának egy emlékoszlopot a Király-völgyben, mert ezt mondta: Nincsen olyan fiam, akiben fennmaradhatna nevem emléke. Ezért az oszlopot a saját nevéről nevezte el. Absolon oszlopának hívják mind e mai napig.

Absolon pedig vett és még életében emelt magának emlékoszlopot, a mely a király völgyében van. Mert ezt mondja vala: Nincsen nékem oly fiam, a kin az én nevemnek emlékezete maradhatna; azért az oszlopot a maga nevére nevezé; és az Absolon oszlopának hívattatik mind e mai napig.

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom's place.

Pe când trăia, Absalom îşi ridicase un stâlp de aducere aminte în Valea Împăratului. Căci zicea: „N-am fii, prin care să se poată păstra aducerea aminte a numelui meu.” Şi a pus numele său stâlpului, care şi astăzi se numeşte stâlpul lui Absalom. –

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King’s Valley, for he said, “I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.” He called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom’s monument to this day.

Ahimaac, Cádók fia pedig ezt mondta: Majd elfutok, és hírül adom a királynak, hogy megszabadította őt az ÚR ellenségei kezéből.

Monda pedig Akhimás, Sádók fia: Majd elfutok, és megmondom a királynak, hogy megszabadította őt az Úr az ő ellenségeinek kezéből.

Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies.

Ahimaaţ, fiul lui Ţadoc, a zis: „Lasă-mă să dau fuga şi să duc împăratului vestea cea bună că Domnul i-a făcut dreptate, scăpându-l din mâna vrăjmaşilor săi.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, “Let me run and carry news to the king that the LORD has delivered him from the hand of his enemies.”

De Jóáb azt mondta neki: Ne légy ma hírmondó, hanem holnap mondd meg a hírt. Ma még ne mondd meg, mivel a király fia meghalt!

És monda néki Joáb: Ne légy ma hírmondó, hanem holnap mondd meg a hírt, ma pedig ne mondd meg; mivelhogy a király fia meghalt.

And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king's son is dead.

Ioab i-a zis: „Nu tu ai să duci veştile azi; le vei duce într-o altă zi, dar nu astăzi, fiindcă fiul împăratului a murit.”

And Joab said to him, “You are not to carry news today. You may carry news another day, but today you shall carry no news, because the king’s son is dead.”

Aztán Jóáb ezt mondta egy kúsitának: Eredj el, mondd meg a királynak, amit láttál. A kúsi meghajolt Jóáb előtt, és futásnak eredt.

Monda azonközben Joáb Kúsinak: Eredj el, mondd meg a királynak, a mit láttál; és meghajtá magát Kúsi Joáb előtt, és elszaladt.

Then said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran.

Şi Ioab a zis lui Cuşi: „Du-te şi vesteşte împăratului ce ai văzut.” Cuşi s-a închinat înaintea lui Ioab şi a dat fuga.

Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go, tell the king what you have seen.” The Cushite bowed before Joab, and ran.

Ahimaac, Cádók fia újból megszólalt, és ezt mondta Jóábnak: Bármi történhet, hadd fussak el én is a kúsi után! Jóáb azonban ezt mondta: Miért futnál, fiam? Nem neked való ez a hírmondás.

És szóla ismét Akhimás, Sádók fia, és monda Joábnak: Bármint legyen, hadd fussak el én is Kúsi után! Monda Joáb: Miért futnál fiam; nem néked való [ez] a hírmondás?!

Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready?

Ahimaaţ, fiul lui Ţadoc, a zis iarăşi lui Ioab: „Orice s-ar întâmpla, lasă-mă să alerg după Cuşi.” Şi Ioab a zis: „Pentru ce vrei să alergi, fiule? Nu este o solie care-ţi va fi de folos.”

Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said again to Joab, “Come what may, let me also run after the Cushite.” And Joab said, “Why will you run, my son, seeing that you will have no reward for the news?”

Ő azonban így válaszolt: Bármi történhet, hadd fussak el mégis! Ő pedig azt mondta neki: Ám fuss el! Erre Ahimaac elfutott a síkságon át vezető úton, és megelőzte a kúsit.

Bármint legyen, hadd fussak el mégis! Ő pedig monda néki: Ám fuss el. Elfuta azért Akhimás a síkon való úton, és megelőzé Kúsit.

But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi.

„Orice s-ar întâmpla vreau să alerg”, a zis din nou Ahimaaţ. Şi Ioab i-a zis: „Dă fuga!” Ahimaaţ a alergat pe drumul care duce în câmpie şi a luat-o înaintea lui Cuşi.

“Come what may,” he said, “I will run.” So he said to him, “Run.” Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and outran the Cushite.

Dávid pedig a két kapu között ült. Az őrálló fölment a kapu tetejére, a kőfalra, körülnézett, és látta, hogy egy ember nagyon fut egyedül.

Dávid pedig ül vala a két kapu között, és az őrálló felméne a kapu tetejére, a kőfalra, és felemelvén szemeit, látá, hogy egy ember igen fut egyedül.

And David sat between the two gates: and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man running alone.

David şedea între cele două porţi. Caraula s-a dus pe acoperişul porţii spre zid; a ridicat ochii şi s-a uitat. Şi iată că un om alerga singur singurel.

Now David was sitting between the two gates, and the watchman went up to the roof of the gate by the wall, and when he lifted up his eyes and looked, he saw a man running alone.

Ekkor az őrálló lekiáltott, és jelentette a királynak. A király azt mondta: Ha egyedül jön, jó hír van a szájában. Az pedig egyre közelebb ért.

Kiálta azért az őrálló, és megmondá a királynak, és monda a király: Ha egyedül jő, hír van az ő szájában. Amaz pedig mind közelebb jöve.

And the watchman cried, and told the king. And the king said, If he be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he came apace, and drew near.

Caraula a strigat şi a dat de ştire împăratului. Împăratul a zis: „Dacă este singur, aduce veşti.” Şi omul acela se apropia din ce în ce mai mult.

The watchman called out and told the king. And the king said, “If he is alone, there is news in his mouth.” And he drew nearer and nearer.

Látta aztán az őr, hogy egy másik ember is fut, és lekiáltott a kapuőrzőnek: Íme, egy másik ember is fut egyedül. Erre azt mondta a király: Az is hírmondó.

Látá pedig az őrálló, hogy másik ember is fut, és lekiálta az őrálló a kapunállónak, mondván: Ímé [más] ember [is] fut egyedül. Akkor monda a király: Az is hírmondó.

And the watchman saw another man running: and the watchman called unto the porter, and said, Behold another man running alone. And the king said, He also bringeth tidings.

Caraula a văzut un alt om alergând; a strigat la portar: „Iată un om aleargă singur singurel.” Împăratul a zis: „Şi el aduce veşti.”

The watchman saw another man running. And the watchman called to the gate and said, “See, another man running alone!” The king said, “He also brings news.”

Majd így folytatta az őrálló: Ha jól látom, az első úgy fut, mint Ahimaac, Cádók fia. A király ezt mondta: Jó ember az, és jó hírrel jön.

Monda ismét az őrálló: A mint látom, az elsőnek olyan a futása, mint Akhimásnak, a Sádók fiának; és monda a király: Jó ember az, és jó hírrel jő.

And the watchman said, Me thinketh the running of the foremost is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok. And the king said, He is a good man, and cometh with good tidings.

Caraula a zis: „Alergătura celui dintâi pare că e a lui Ahimaaţ, fiul lui Ţadoc.” Şi împăratul a zis: „Este un om de bine şi aduce veşti bune.”

The watchman said, “I think the running of the first is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” And the king said, “He is a good man and comes with good news.”

Akkor Ahimaac ezt kiáltotta a királynak: Békesség! És arccal a földig hajolt a király előtt, és ezt mondta: Áldott az ÚR, a te Istened, aki kezedbe adta azokat az embereket, akik fölemelték kezüket az én uramra, a királyra.

Kiáltván azért Akhimás, monda a királynak: Békesség! És meghajtá magát arczczal a földre a király előtt, és monda: Áldott az Úr a te Istened, ki kezedbe adta az embereket, kik felemelték kezeiket az én uram ellen, a király ellen.

And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.

Ahimaaţ a strigat şi a zis împăratului: „Este bine de tot!” S-a închinat înaintea împăratului cu faţa până la pământ şi a zis: „Binecuvântat să fie Domnul Dumnezeul tău care a dat în mâinile noastre pe cei ce ridicau mâna împotriva domnului nostru, împăratul.”

Then Ahimaaz cried out to the king, “All is well.” And he bowed before the king with his face to the earth and said, “Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men who raised their hand against my lord the king.”

Akkor megkérdezte a király: Épségben van-e Absolon fiam? Ahimaac így felelt: Láttam a nagy zűrzavart, amikor Jóáb elküldte a király szolgáját és a te szolgádat is, így nem tudom, mi történt.

And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king's servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.

Împăratul a zis: „Tânărul Absalom este bine, sănătos?” Ahimaaţ a răspuns: „Am văzut o mare învălmăşeală, când a trimis Ioab pe slujitorul împăratului şi pe mine, slujitorul tău: dar nu ştiu ce era.”

And the king said, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” Ahimaaz answered, “When Joab sent the king’s servant, your servant, I saw a great commotion, but I do not know what it was.”

Azt mondta erre a király: Eredj odébb, állj félre. Erre félreállt, és ott várakozott.

És monda a király: Eredj tova, és állj meg ott; félreméne azért, és megálla ott.

And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.

Şi împăratul a zis: „Stai acolo la o parte.” Şi Ahimaaţ a stat deoparte.

And the king said, “Turn aside and stand here.” So he turned aside and stood still.

Eközben a kúsi is megérkezett. Ezt mondta: Azt üzenik a királynak, az én uramnak, hogy az ÚR megszabadított ma téged mindenkinek a kezéből, aki ellened támadt.

E közben Kúsi is megérkezett, és monda Kúsi: Ezt izenik a királynak, az én uramnak, hogy az Úr megszabadított ma téged mindeneknek kezéből, a kik ellened támadtak volt.

And, behold, Cushi came; and Cushi said, Tidings, my lord the king: for the LORD hath avenged thee this day of all them that rose up against thee.

Îndată a sosit Cuşi. Şi a zis: „Să afle domnul meu, împăratul, vestea cea bună! Astăzi Domnul ţi-a făcut dreptate, scăpându-te din mâna tuturor celor ce se ridicau împotriva ta.”

And behold, the Cushite came, and the Cushite said, “Good news for my lord the king! For the LORD has delivered you this day from the hand of all who rose up against you.”

A király megkérdezte a kúsit: Épségben van-e Absolon fiam? A kúsi így felelt: Úgy járjanak az én uram, királyom ellenségei és mindazok, aki gonoszul ellened támadnak, mint a fiad.

Monda a király Kúsinak: Hogy van Absolon fiam? Felele Kúsi: [Úgy] legyenek az én uramnak, a királynak minden ellenségei, és valakik te ellened gonoszul feltámadnak, mint a te fiad.

And the king said unto Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all that rise against thee to do thee hurt, be as that young man is.

Împăratul a zis lui Cuşi: „Tânărul Absalom este bine, sănătos?” Cuşi a răspuns: „Ca tânărul acesta să fie vrăjmaşii domnului meu, împăratul, şi toţi cei ce se ridică împotriva ta ca să-ţi facă rău!”

The king said to the Cushite, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” And the Cushite answered, “May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up against you for evil be like that young man.”

Ekkor a király mélyen megrendült. Fölment a kapu fölött levő házba, és sírt. És miközben ment, ezt mondta: Ó, fiam, Absolon! Én fiam, én fiam, Absolon! Bárcsak én haltam volna meg helyetted! Absolon, én fiam, én fiam!

És megháborodék a király, és felméne a kapu felett való házba, és síra, és ezt mondja vala mentében: [Szerelmes] fiam, Absolon! [édes] fiam, [édes] fiam, Absolon! bár én haltam volna meg te helyetted, Absolon, [édes] fiam, [szerelmes] fiam!

And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!

Atunci împăratul, cutremurându-se, s-a suit în odaia de sus a porţii şi a plâns. Pe când mergea, zicea: „Fiul meu Absalom! Fiul meu, fiul meu Absalom! Cum n-am murit eu în locul tău! Absalom, fiul meu, fiul meu!”

And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”
