Artahsasztá király huszadik esztendejében, a Niszán hónapban bor volt előttem, és én fölvettem azt, és a királynak nyújtottam. Azelőtt sohasem voltam szomorú őelőtte.

És lőn a Niszán [nevű] hóban, Artaxerxes királynak huszadik esztendejében, bor vala ő előtte és én fölvevém a bort, adám a királynak; [azelőtt] pedig nem voltam szomorú ő előtte.

And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.

În luna Nisan, anul al douăzecilea al împăratului Artaxerxe, pe când vinul era înaintea lui, am luat vinul şi l-am dat împăratului. Niciodată nu fusesem trist înaintea lui.

In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence.

Ezért így szólt hozzám a király: Miért szomorú az arcod? Hiszen nem vagy beteg! Nem más ez, mint szíved szomorúsága! Erre nagyon megrettentem,

És monda nékem a király: Miért szomorú a te orczád, holott te beteg nem vagy? Nem egyéb ez, hanem szívednek szomorúsága! És felette igen megfélemlém.

Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,

Împăratul mi-a zis: „Pentru ce ai faţa tristă? Totuşi nu eşti bolnav; nu poate fi decât o întristare a inimii.” Atunci m-a apucat o mare frică

And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid.

és ezt mondtam a királynak: Örökké éljen a király! Miért ne volna szomorú az arcom, hiszen a város, atyáim sírhelye pusztán hever, és kapuit tűz emésztette meg.

Akkor mondék a királynak: Örökké éljen a király! Miért nem volna szomorú az én orczám, hiszen a város, az én atyáim sírjainak helye, pusztán hever és kapui megemésztettek tűzben?!

And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

şi am răspuns împăratului: „Trăiască împăratul în veac! Cum să n-am faţa tristă, când cetatea în care sunt mormintele părinţilor mei este nimicită, şi porţile ei sunt arse de foc?”

I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

Azt mondta nekem a király: Mi az, amit kívánsz? Én pedig könyörögtem a menny Istenéhez,

És monda nékem a király: Mi az, a mit kívánsz? És könyörgék a menny Istenéhez.

Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

Şi împăratul mi-a zis: „Ce ceri?” Eu m-am rugat Dumnezeului cerurilor

Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven.

majd ezt mondtam a királynak: Ha tetszik a királynak, és ha kedves előtted a szolgád, azt kérem, hogy bocsáss el engem Júdába, atyáim sírjainak a városába, hogy újjáépítsem azt!

És mondék a királynak: Ha tetszik a királynak és ha kedves előtted a te szolgád, [azt kérem], hogy bocsáss el engem Júdába, atyáim sírjainak városába, hogy megépítsem azt!

And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.

şi am răspuns împăratului: „Dacă găseşte cu cale împăratul şi dacă robul tău îi este plăcut, trimite-mă în Iuda, la cetatea mormintelor părinţilor mei, ca s-o zidesc din nou.”

And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ graves, that I may rebuild it.”

Erre azt mondta nekem a király, miközben a felesége mellette ült: Meddig tart utazásod, és mikor térsz vissza? És jónak látta a király, hogy elbocsásson engem, miután tudattam vele az időt.

És monda nékem a király (felesége pedig mellette ül vala): Meddig lészen utazásod és mikorra jösz vissza? És tetszék a királynak engem elbocsátani, miután én tudattam vele az időt.

And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.

Împăratul, lângă care şedea şi împărăteasa, mi-a zis atunci: „Cât va ţine călătoria ta şi când te vei întoarce?” Împăratul a găsit cu cale să mă lase să plec, şi i-am hotărât o vreme.

And the king said to me (the queen sitting beside him), “How long will you be gone, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me when I had given him a time.

Ezt is mondtam a királynak: Ha jónak látja a király, adasson nekem leveleket a Folyamon túli helytartókhoz, hogy hagyjanak engem átutazni, míg Júdába nem érek,

És mondék a királynak: Ha tetszik a királynak, adasson nékem leveleket a folyóvizen túl lakó tiszttartókhoz, hogy hagyjanak engem utazni, míg Júdába érek;

Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;

Apoi am zis împăratului: „Dacă găseşte împăratul cu cale, să mi se dea scrisori pentru dregătorii de dincolo de Râu, ca să mă lase să trec şi să intru în Iuda,

And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah,

és adasson egy levelet Ászáfhoz is, a királyi erdők őréhez, hogy adjon nekem gerendának való fát a templomnál levő vár kapuihoz és a város kőfalához és ahhoz a házhoz, amelybe majd beköltözök. A király megadta ezt nekem Istenem rajtam nyugvó jóakaratából.

És [adasson] egy levelet Ászáfhoz, a király erdeje őréhez, hogy adjon nékem fákat gerendákul a templom várának kapuihoz, és a város kőfalához, és a házhoz, melybe költözni fogok. És megadá nékem a király, az én Istenemnek rajtam nyugvó jó kegyelme szerint.

And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

şi o scrisoare pentru Asaf, păzitorul pădurii împăratului, ca să-mi dea lemne să fac grinzi pentru porţile cetăţuii de lângă casă, pentru zidul cetăţii şi pentru casa în care voi locui.” Împăratul mi-a dat aceste scrisori, căci mâna cea bună a Dumnezeului meu era peste mine.

and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy.” And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.

Amikor megérkeztem a Folyamon túli helytartókhoz, átadtam nekik a király leveleit. A király a seregből főembereket és lovasokat is küldött velem.

És megérkezém a folyóvizen túl való tiszttartókhoz és átadám nékik a király leveleit. Bocsátott vala pedig velem a király főembereket a seregből és lovagokat.

Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.

M-am dus la dregătorii de dincolo de Râu şi le-am dat scrisorile împăratului, care pusese să mă însoţească nişte mai mari ai oştii şi nişte călăreţi.

Then I came to the governors of the province Beyond the River and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen.

Amikor pedig a hóróni Szanballat és az ammóni Tóbijjá, a szolga meghallotta ezt, nagy bosszúságot okozott nekik, hogy jött valaki, aki Izráel fiainak a javát keresi.

Mikor pedig a Horonból való Szanballat és az Ammonita Tóbiás, a szolga, meghallották ezt, nagy bosszúságot okozott nékik, hogy jött valaki, a ki Izráel fiainak javokat keresi.

When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

Sanbalat, horonitul, şi Tobia, slujitorul amonit, când au auzit lucrul acesta, nu le-a plăcut deloc că venea un om să caute binele copiilor lui Israel.

But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant heard this, it displeased them greatly that someone had come to seek the welfare of the people of Israel.

Azután elmentem Jeruzsálembe, és ott három napig pihentem.

Azután elmenék Jeruzsálembe, és ott pihenék három napig.

So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.

Am ajuns la Ierusalim şi am rămas acolo trei zile.

So I went to Jerusalem and was there three days.

Majd fölkeltem éjszaka néhány férfival együtt, de nem árultam el senkinek, hogy mire indította Istenem a szívemet, és hogy azt Jeruzsálemért cselekszem. Állat sem volt velem azonkívül, amelyen ültem.

És fölkelék éjszaka, én és velem néhány férfi, mert nem jelentém meg senkinek, hogy mire indítá az én Istenem az én szívemet, hogy azt Jeruzsálemért megcselekedjem, és barom sem vala velem, csak az, melyen ülök vala,

And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.

După aceea, m-am sculat noaptea cu câţiva oameni, fără să fi spus cuiva ce-mi pusese Dumnezeul meu în inimă să fac pentru Ierusalim. Nu era cu mine nicio altă vită, afară de vita pe care călăream.

Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. And I told no one what my God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There was no animal with me but the one on which I rode.

Kimentem a Völgy kapuján éjjel a Sárkányok forrása felé, majd a Szemét-kapuhoz, és vizsgálgattam Jeruzsálem várfalát, amely le volt rombolva, és kapuit, amelyeket tűz emésztett meg.

És kimenék a völgynek kapuján éjjel, és pedig a sárkányok forrása felé, majd a szemét-kapuhoz, és vizsgálgatám Jeruzsálem kőfalait, melyek elrontattak vala, és kapuit, melyek tűz által megemésztetének.

And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.

Am ieşit noaptea pe poarta văii şi m-am îndreptat spre izvorul balaurului şi spre poarta gunoiului, uitându-mă cu băgare de seamă la zidurile dărâmate ale Ierusalimului şi la porţile lui arse de foc.

I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.

Azután átmentem a Forrás-kapuhoz és a Király-tóhoz. Innen már az állat nem fért el, hogy átmenjen velem.

Azután átmenék a forrás kapujához és a király tavához, holott nem vala hely a baromnak, hogy velem átmenjen.

Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king's pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.

Am trecut pe la poarta izvorului şi pe la iazul împăratului, şi nu era loc pe unde să treacă vita care era sub mine.

Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King’s Pool, but there was no room for the animal that was under me to pass.

Azért gyalog mentem föl a völgyben éjjel, és vizsgálgattam a várfalat, azután megfordultam, és bementem a Völgy-kapun, és hazatértem.

Azért [gyalog] menék fel a völgyben éjjel és vizsgálgatám a kőfalat, azután megfordultam és bementem a völgy kapuján, és hazatértem.

Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.

M-am suit noaptea pe la pârâu şi m-am uitat iarăşi cu băgare de seamă la zid. Apoi am intrat pe poarta văii, şi astfel m-am întors.

Then I went up in the night by the valley and inspected the wall, and I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned.

A főemberek pedig nem tudták, hova mentem, és hogy mit akarok cselekedni. Sem a júdaiaknak, sem a papoknak, sem az elöljáróknak, sem a főembereknek, sem a többi munkásnak idáig nem mondtam el azt.

A főemberek pedig nem tudták vala, hova mentem, és hogy mit akarok cselekedni, és sem a zsidóknak, sem a papoknak, sem az előljáróknak, sem a főembereknek, sem a többi munkásoknak ez ideig nem jelentettem meg.

And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.

Dregătorii nu ştiau unde fusesem şi ce făceam. Până în clipa aceea nu spusesem nimic iudeilor, nici preoţilor, nici mai marilor, nici dregătorilor, nici vreunuia din cei ce vedeau de treburi.

And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest who were to do the work.

Ugyanakkor azt mondtam nekik: Látjátok a nyomorúságot, amelyben vagyunk, hogy Jeruzsálem pusztán hever, és kapui tűzben égtek el. Gyertek, építsük föl Jeruzsálem várfalát, hogy ne szégyenkezzünk többé!

Ekkor mondék nékik: Ti látjátok a nyomorúságot, a melyben mi vagyunk, hogy Jeruzsálem pusztán hever és kapui tűzben égtek meg; jertek, építsük meg Jeruzsálem kőfalát, és ne legyünk többé gyalázatul!

Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

Le-am zis atunci: „Vedeţi starea nenorocită în care suntem! Ierusalimul este dărâmat, şi porţile sunt arse de foc. Veniţi să zidim iarăşi zidul Ierusalimului şi să nu mai fim de ocară!”

Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.”

És elbeszéltem nekik Istenem rajtam nyugvó jóakaratát, és a király szavait is, amelyeket nekem mondott. Erre azt mondták: Fogjunk hozzá, és építsük meg! És odaszánták kezüket a jó munkára.

És megjelentém nékik az én Istenemnek rajtam nyugvó jó kegyelmét, és a király beszédit is, a melyeket nékem szólt, és mondának: Keljünk fel és építsük meg! És megerősíték kezeiket a jóra.

Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Şi le-am istorisit cum mâna cea bună a Dumnezeului meu fusese peste mine şi ce cuvinte îmi spusese împăratul. Ei au zis: „Să ne sculăm şi să zidim!” Şi s-au întărit în această hotărâre bună.

And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.

Amikor ezt a hóróni Szanballat, az ammóni Tóbijjá, a szolga és az arab Gesem meghallotta, gúnyolódtak rajtunk, lenéztek minket, és azt mondták: Mit műveltek ott? Talán bizony pártot akartok ütni a király ellen?

Mikor meghallák ezt a Horonból való Szanballat és az Ammonita Tóbiás, a szolga, és az arab Gesem, gúnyoltak és lenéztek minket, mondván: Micsoda ez, a mit míveltek? Talán bizony a király ellen akartok pártot ütni?

But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

Sanbalat, horonitul, Tobia, slujitorul amonit, şi Gheşem, arabul, fiind înştiinţaţi, şi-au bătut joc de noi şi ne-au dispreţuit. Ei au zis: „Ce faceţi voi acolo? Vă răsculaţi împotriva împăratului?”

But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”

Én azonban így feleltem nekik: Maga a menny Istene ad nekünk jó előmenetelt, és mi mint az ő szolgái kezdjük el az építést. Nektek pedig nincs részetek, jogotok és emlékezetetek Jeruzsálemben!

Kiknek felelék, és mondék: A mennynek Istene, ő ad jó szerencsét nékünk, és mi mint az ő szolgái kelünk föl és építünk, néktek pedig részetek és jogotok és emlékezetetek nincsen Jeruzsálemben!

Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

Şi eu le-am răspuns: „Dumnezeul cerurilor ne va da izbânda. Noi, robii Săi, ne vom scula şi vom zidi; dar voi n-aveţi nici parte, nici drept, nici aducere aminte în Ierusalim.”

Then I replied to them, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim in Jerusalem.”
