Amikor megépült a várfal, beállíttattam az ajtókat, és szolgálatba állították a kapuőröket, az énekeseket és a lévitákat.

És lőn, hogy midőn megépítteték a kőfal, felállítám az ajtókat és kirendeltetének a kapunállók, az énekesek és a Léviták [őrizetre;]

Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

Vezérré tettem Jeruzsálem fölött testvéremet, Hanánit és Hananját, a vár parancsnokát, mivel ő sokkal hűségesebb és istenfélőbb volt másoknál.

That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.

Am poruncit fratelui meu Hanani şi lui Hanania, căpetenia cetăţuii Ierusalimului, om care întrecea pe mulţi prin credincioşia şi prin frica lui de Dumnezeu,

I gave my brother Hanani and Hananiah the governor of the castle charge over Jerusalem, for he was a more faithful and God-fearing man than many.

Azt mondtam nekik, hogy ne nyissák ki Jeruzsálem kapuit mindaddig, amíg a nap melegen nem süt; és addig csukják be az ajtókat, és zárják be azokat, amíg az őrök őrt állnak ott. Azután állítsanak őröket Jeruzsálem lakosai közül, egyeseket az őrhelyekre, másokat pedig a házuk elé.

És mondék nékik: Meg ne nyittassanak Jeruzsálem kapui mindaddig, míg a nap melegen nem süt, és míg [az őrök] ott állanak, addig tegyék be az ajtókat és zárjátok be azokat; azután állítsatok őrizőket Jeruzsálem lakosai közül, némelyeket az ő vigyázó helyökre, s másokat az ő házok ellenébe.

And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.

And I said to them, “Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot. And while they are still standing guard, let them shut and bar the doors. Appoint guards from among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, some at their guard posts and some in front of their own homes.”

A város pedig igen nagy kiterjedésű volt, de kevés lakosa volt, és a házak sem épültek még föl.

Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.

The city was wide and large, but the people within it were few, and no houses had been rebuilt.

Fölindította azért Istenem a szívemet, hogy összegyűjtsem az elöljárókat, a főembereket és a népet, és számba vegyem őket. Megtaláltam azoknak a nemzetségkönyvét, akik elsőként jöttek el Babilóniából, és ezt a följegyzést találtam benne:

And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,

Then my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles and the officials and the people to be enrolled by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first, and I found written in it:

Ezek azok a Júda tartományából valók, akik visszatértek a száműzetésből, akiket fogolyként vitetett el Nebukadneccar, Babilónia királya, és most visszajöttek Jeruzsálembe és Júdába, ki-ki a maga városába.

These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;

Iată pe cei din ţară care s-au întors din robie, din aceia pe care îi luase robi Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi care s-au întors la Ierusalim şi în Iuda, fiecare în cetatea lui.

These were the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of those exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried into exile. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his town.

And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.
