Ha dicsekednem kell, bár az nem használ nekem, rátérek a látomásokra és az Úr kinyilatkoztatásaira.

It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

E nevoie să mă laud, măcar că nu este de folos. Voi veni totuşi la vedeniile şi descoperirile Domnului.

I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.

Ismerek egy embert Krisztusban, aki tizennégy évvel ezelőtt – hogy testben-e vagy testen kívül, nem tudom, csak Isten tudja – elragadtatott a harmadik égig.

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

Cunosc un om în Hristos, care, acum paisprezece ani, a fost răpit până în al treilea cer (dacă a fost în trup, nu ştiu; dacă a fost fără trup, nu ştiu: Dumnezeu ştie).

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.

And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows—

How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.

Az ilyennel dicsekszem, magammal pedig nem dicsekszem, hacsak az én erőtlenségeimmel nem.

Az ilyennel dicsekeszem; magammal pedig nem dicsekeszem, ha csak az én gyengeségeimmel nem.

Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

Cu un astfel de om mă voi lăuda; dar, întrucât mă priveşte pe mine însumi, nu mă voi lăuda decât cu slăbiciunile mele.

On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses—

Még ha dicsekedni akarnék, akkor sem lennék esztelen, mert az igazságot mondanám, de megtartóztatom magam, nehogy valaki többnek tartson, mint aminek lát, vagy amit hall tőlem,

For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

Chiar dacă aş vrea să mă laud, n-aş fi nebun, căci aş spune adevărul; dar mă feresc, ca să n-aibă nimeni despre mine o părere mai înaltă decât ce vede în mine sau ce aude de la mine.

though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.

és hogy a kijelentések nagysága miatt el ne bízzam magam, tövis adatott a testembe, a Sátán angyala, hogy gyötörjön engem, hogy felettébb el ne bízzam magam.

És hogy a kijelentések nagysága miatt el ne bizakodjam, tövis adatott nékem a testembe, a Sátán angyala, hogy gyötörjön engem, hogy felettébb el ne bizakodjam.

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Şi, ca să nu mă umflu de mândrie din pricina strălucirii acestor descoperiri, mi-a fost pus un ţepuş în carne, un sol al Satanei, ca să mă pălmuiască şi să mă împiedice să mă îngâmf.

So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.

Háromszor könyörögtem az Úrhoz, hogy távozzék el ez tőlem,

Ezért háromszor könyörögtem az Úrnak, hogy távozzék el [ez] tőlem;

For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

De trei ori am rugat pe Domnul să mi-l ia.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.

de ő ezt mondta nekem: Elég neked az én kegyelmem, mert az én erőm erőtlenség által ér célhoz. Legszívesebben azért az én erőtlenségeimmel dicsekszem, hogy a Krisztus ereje lakozzék bennem.

És ezt mondá nékem: Elég néked az én kegyelmem; mert az én erőm erőtlenség által végeztetik el. Nagy örömest dicsekeszem azért az én erőtelenségeimmel, hogy a Krisztus ereje lakozzék én bennem.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Şi El mi-a zis: „Harul Meu îţi este de ajuns; căci puterea Mea în slăbiciune este făcută desăvârşită.” Deci mă voi lăuda mult mai bucuros cu slăbiciunile mele, pentru ca puterea lui Hristos să rămână în mine.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Ezért gyönyörködöm az erőtlenségekben, bántalmazásokban, nyomorúságokban, üldözésekben és szorongattatásokban Krisztusért, mert amikor erőtlen vagyok, akkor vagyok erős.

Annakokáért gyönyörködöm az erőtlenségekben, bántalmazásokban, nyomorúságokban, üldözésekben és szorongattatásokban Krisztusért; mert a mikor erőtelen vagyok, akkor vagyok erős.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

De aceea simt plăcere în slăbiciuni, în defăimări, în nevoi, în prigoniri, în strâmtorări, pentru Hristos; căci când sunt slab, atunci sunt tare.

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Balgataggá lettem, de ti kényszerítettetek rá, mert nektek kellett volna engem ajánlanotok, hiszen semmiben sem vagyok alábbvaló a legfőbb apostoloknál, noha semmi vagyok.

Dicsekedvén, balgataggá lettem; ti kényszerítettetek reá. Mert néktek kellett volna engem ajánlanotok; mert semmiben sem vagyok alábbvaló a fő-fő apostoloknál, noha semmi vagyok.

I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.

Am ajuns nebun: voi m-aţi silit. Dar voi trebuia să mă lăudaţi; căci, măcar că nu sunt nimic, totuşi cu nimic n-am fost mai prejos de aceşti apostoli aşa de minunaţi.

I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was not at all inferior to these super-apostles, even though I am nothing.

Apostolságom jelei ugyanis megnyilvánultak közöttetek sok tűrésben, jelekben, csodákban és erőkben is.

Apostolságomnak jelei megbizonyosodtak közöttetek sok tűrésben, jelekben, csodákban és erőkben is.

Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Semnele unui apostol le-aţi avut printre voi în toată răbdarea, prin semne, puteri şi minuni care au fost făcute între voi.

The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with utmost patience, with signs and wonders and mighty works.

Mert mi az, amiben hátrányba kerültetek a többi gyülekezethez képest, hacsak nem az, hogy én magam nem voltam terhetekre? Bocsássátok meg nekem ezt az igazságtalanságot!

Mert micsoda az, a miben megkárosodtatok a többi gyülekezetek mellett, hanem ha az, hogy én magam nem voltam néktek terhetekre? Bocsássátok meg nékem ezt az igazságtalanságot!

For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.

În adevăr, în ce aţi fost voi puşi mai prejos decât celelalte biserici, afară doar că numai eu singur nu v-am fost o sarcină? O, iertaţi-mi nedreptatea aceasta!…

For in what were you less favored than the rest of the churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!

Íme, harmadszor is kész vagyok hozzátok menni, és nem leszek terhetekre, mert nem azt keresem, ami a tiétek, hanem titeket magatokat, hiszen nem a gyermekek tartoznak kincseket gyűjteni a szülőknek, hanem a szülők a gyermekeknek.

Ímé harmadízben is kész vagyok hozzátok menni, és nem leszek terhetekre; mert nem azt keresem, a mi a tiétek, hanem titeket magatokat. Mert nem a gyermekek tartoznak kincseket gyűjteni a szülőknek, hanem a szülők a gyermekeknek.

Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not your's but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

Iată că sunt gata să vin a treia oară la voi; şi tot nu vă voi fi o sarcină; căci nu caut bunurile voastre, ci pe voi înşivă. Ce-i drept, nu copiii sunt datori să agonisească pentru părinţii lor, ci părinţii pentru copiii lor.

Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

Én pedig nagy örömest viszek áldozatot, sőt magamat is odaáldozom értetek. Ha én ennyire túláradóan szeretlek titeket, vajon ti kevésbé szerettek engem?

Én pedig nagy örömest áldozok és esem áldozatul a ti lelketekért; még ha ti, a kiket én igen szeretek, kevésbbé szerettek is engem.

And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

Şi eu voi cheltui prea bucuros din ale mele şi mă voi cheltui în totul şi pe mine însumi pentru sufletele voastre. Dacă vă iubesc mai mult, sunt iubit cu atât mai puţin?

I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

Ám legyen, hogy én nem voltam terhetekre, de mint afféle ravasz ember, csellel fogtalak meg titeket.

De ám legyen, hogy én nem voltam terhetekre; hanem álnok lévén ravaszsággal fogtalak meg titeket.

But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

Fie şi-aşa! Nu v-am fost sarcină deloc. „Dar”, zic ei, „ca un om isteţ ce sunt, v-am prins prin şiretlic.” –

But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit.

Vagy akiket hozzátok küldtem, azok közül valamelyik által rászedtelek titeket?

Avagy a kiket hozzátok küldtem, azok közül valamelyik által kifosztottalak-é titeket?

Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you?

Dar, am tras eu oare vreun folos de la voi prin vreunul din aceia pe care i-am trimis la voi?

Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you?

Megkértem Tituszt, és vele együtt elküldtem azt a testvért, csak nem Titusz szedett rá titeket? Nem ugyanazon Lélek szerint jártunk-e? Nem ugyanazokon a nyomokon?

Megkértem Titust, és vele együtt elküldtem amaz atyafit; csak nem fosztott ki titeket Titus? Nem egyazon Lélek szerint jártunk-é? Nem azokon a nyomokon-é?

I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?

Am rugat pe Tit să vină să vă vadă; şi împreună cu el am trimis şi pe fratele; a cerut Tit ceva de la voi? N-am fost noi călăuziţi de acelaşi Duh şi n-am călcat noi pe aceleaşi urme?

I urged Titus to go, and sent the brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not act in the same spirit? Did we not take the same steps?

Már régóta azt gondolhatjátok, hogy mentegetőzünk előttetek. Mi Isten színe előtt a Krisztusban szólunk, mindezt pedig, szeretteim, a ti épülésetekre.

Azt hiszitek megint, hogy előttetek mentegetjük magunkat. Az Isten előtt Krisztusban szólunk; mindezt pedig, szeretteim, a ti épüléstekért.

Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

De multă vreme voi vă închipuiţi că vrem să ne apărăm înaintea voastră! Noi vorbim înaintea lui Dumnezeu în Hristos; şi toate aceste lucruri le spunem, preaiubiţilor, pentru zidirea voastră.

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

Mert attól félek, hogy amikor megérkezem, nem olyannak talállak majd titeket, amilyennek szeretnélek, és engem pedig olyannak találtok, amilyennek nem szeretnétek, és majd viszály, irigység, harag, önzés, rágalmazás, pletykálkodás, felfuvalkodás, zűrzavar lesz közöttetek.

Mert félek azon, hogy ha odamegyek, nem talállak majd olyanoknak, a milyeneknek szeretnélek, és engem is olyannak találtok, a milyennek nem szeretnétek; hogy valamiképen versengések, irígységek, indulatoskodások, visszavonások, rágalmazások, fondorkodások, felfuvalkodások, pártoskodások lesznek köztetek;

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

Fiindcă mă tem ca nu cumva, la venirea mea, să vă găsesc aşa cum n-aş vrea să vă găsesc, şi eu însumi să fiu găsit de voi aşa cum n-aţi vrea. Mă tem să nu găsesc gâlceavă, pizmă, mânii, dezbinări, vorbiri de rău, bârfe, îngâmfări, tulburări.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

Úgyhogy amikor újra odamegyek, megaláz engem az én Istenem nálatok, és sokakat megsiratok azok közül, akik korábban vétkeztek, és nem tértek meg abból a tisztátalanságból, paráznaságból és kicsapongásból, amelyet elkövettek.

Hogy mikor újra odamegyek, megaláz engem az én Istenem ti köztetek, és sokakat megsiratok azok közül, a kik ezelőtt vétkeztek és meg nem tértek a tisztátalanságból, paráznaságból és bujaságból, a mit elkövettek.

And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

Mă tem ca, la venirea mea la voi, să nu mă smerească din nou Dumnezeul meu cu privire la voi şi să trebuiască să plâng pe mulţi din cei ce au păcătuit mai înainte şi nu s-au pocăit de necurăţia, curvia şi spurcăciunile pe care le-au făcut.

I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and sensuality that they have practiced.
