But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

Am hotărât, dar, în mine, să nu mă întorc la voi cu întristare.

For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.

Mert ha megszomorítalak titeket, ugyan ki az, aki megvidámít engem, ha az nem, akit én megszomorítok?

Mert ha én megszomorítlak titeket, ugyan ki az, a ki megvídámít engem, hanemha a kit én megszomorítok?

For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

Căci, dacă vă întristez, de la cine să mă aştept la bucurie, dacă nu de la cel întristat de mine?

For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained?

És azért írtam nektek éppen azt, hogy amikor odamegyek, ne érjen szomorúság azoktól, akiknek örülnöm kellene, mert meg vagyok győződve mindegyikőtök felől, hogy az én örömöm mindnyájatoké.

És azért írtam néktek éppen azt, hogy mikor oda megyek, meg ne szomoríttassam azok miatt, a kiknek örülnöm kellene; meg lévén győződve mindenitek felől, hogy az én örömöm mindnyájatoké.

And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

Şi v-am scris cum v-am scris, ca, la venirea mea, să n-am întristare din partea celor ce trebuiau să-mi facă bucurie; şi sunt încredinţat, cu privire la voi toţi, că bucuria mea este bucuria voastră a tuturor.

And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.

Mert sok szorongással és aggódó szívvel, könnyek között írtam nektek, nem azért, hogy megszomorodjatok, hanem hogy megismerjétek azt a szeretetet, amely bőségesen megvan bennem irántatok.

Mert sok szorongattatás és szívbeli háborgás között írtam néktek sok könyhullatással, nem hogy megszomoríttassatok, hanem hogy megismerjétek azt a szeretetet, a mellyel kiváltképen irántatok viseltetem.

For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

V-am scris cu multă mâhnire şi strângere de inimă, cu ochii scăldaţi în lacrimi, nu ca să vă întristaţi, ci ca să vedeţi dragostea nespus de mare pe care o am faţă de voi.

For I wrote to you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you.

Ha pedig valaki megszomorított, nem engem szomorított meg, hanem – hogy ne túlozzak – részben titeket mindnyájatokat.

Ha pedig valaki megszomorított, nem engem szomorított meg, hanem részben, hogy [azt] ne terheljem, titeket mindnyájatokat.

But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

Dacă a fost cineva o pricină de întristare, nu m-a întristat numai pe mine, ci pe voi toţi; cel puţin în parte, ca să nu spun prea mult.

Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you.

Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

Este destul pentru omul acesta pedeapsa care i-a fost dată de cei mai mulţi;

For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough,

Olyannyira, hogy most éppenséggel ti bocsássatok meg neki, és vigasztaljátok, nehogy valahogyan a túlságosan nagy bánat eleméssze az ilyet.

Annyira, hogy éppen ellenkezőleg ti inkább bocsássatok meg néki és vígasztaljátok, hogy valamiképen a felettébb való bánat meg ne eméssze az ilyet.

So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

aşa că, acum, este mai bine să-l iertaţi şi să-l mângâiaţi, ca să nu fie doborât de prea multă mâhnire.

so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

Azért kérlek titeket, hogy tanúsítsatok iránta szeretetet.

Azért kérlek titeket, hogy tanusítsatok iránta szeretetet.

Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

De aceea, vă rog să vă arătaţi iarăşi dragostea faţă de el;

So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.

Mert azért is írtam, hogy lássam, megbízhatók és mindenben engedelmesek vagytok-e.

Mert azért írtam is, hogy bizonyosan megtudjam felőletek, ha mindenben engedelmesek vagytok-é?

For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

căci v-am scris şi cu gândul ca să vă pun la încercare şi să văd dacă sunteţi ascultători în totul.

For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.

Akinek pedig ti megbocsátotok valamit, én is, mert ha én is megbocsátottam valamit, ha valakinek megbocsátottam, értetek tettem Krisztus színe előtt,

A kinek pedig megbocsáttok valamit, én is: mert ha én is megbocsátottam valamit, ha valakinek megbocsátottam, ti érettetek [cselekedtem] Krisztus színe előtt; hogy meg ne csaljon minket a Sátán:

To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

Dar pe cine iertaţi voi, îl iert şi eu. În adevăr, ce am iertat eu – dacă am iertat ceva – am iertat pentru voi, în faţa lui Hristos,

Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ,

hogy be ne csapjon minket a Sátán, mert nem ismeretlenek előttünk az ő szándékai.

Mert jól ismerjük az ő szándékait.

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

ca să nu lăsăm pe Satana să aibă un câştig de la noi; căci nu suntem în neştiinţă despre planurile lui.

so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

Amikor pedig Tróászba érkeztem Krisztus evangéliumának ügyében, és kaput nyitott nekem az Úr,

Mikor pedig Troásba mentem a Krisztus evangyélioma ügyében és kapu nyittatott nékem az Úrban, nem volt lelkemnek nyugodalma, mivelhogy nem találtam Titust, az én atyámfiát;

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

Când am ajuns la Troa pentru Evanghelia lui Hristos, măcar că mi se deschisese acolo o uşă în Domnul,

When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord,

nem volt lelkemnek nyugalma, mivel nem találtam ott testvérünket, Tituszt. Ezért elbúcsúztam tőlük, és elmentem Macedóniába.

Hanem elbúcsúzván tőlük, elmentem Macedóniába.

I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

n-am avut linişte în duhul meu, fiindcă n-am găsit pe fratele meu Tit; de aceea, mi-am luat ziua bună de la fraţi şi am plecat în Macedonia.

my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.

De hála legyen Istennek, aki Krisztusban mindenkor diadalra vezet minket, és ismeretének illatát minden helyen megjelenti általunk.

Hála pedig az Istennek, a ki mindenkor diadalra vezet minket a Krisztusban, és az ő ismeretének illatját minden helyen megjelenti mi általunk.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Mulţumiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, care ne poartă totdeauna cu carul Lui de biruinţă în Hristos şi care răspândeşte prin noi, în orice loc, mireasma cunoştinţei Lui.

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

În adevăr, noi suntem, înaintea lui Dumnezeu, o mireasmă a lui Hristos printre cei ce sunt pe calea mântuirii şi printre cei ce sunt pe calea pierzării:

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,

Ezeknek a halál illata halálra, azoknak pedig az élet illata életre. És erre ki alkalmas?

Ezeknek halál illatja halálra; amazoknak pedig élet illatja életre. És ezekre kicsoda alkalmatos?

To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

pentru aceştia, o mireasmă de la moarte spre moarte; pentru aceia, o mireasmă de la viaţă spre viaţă. Şi cine este de ajuns pentru aceste lucruri?

to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?

Mert nem vagyunk olyanok, mint sokan, akik nyerészkednek Isten igéjével, hanem tisztán, mintegy Istenből szólunk Isten előtt, Krisztusban.

Mert mi nem olyanok vagyunk, mint sokan, a kik meghamisítják az Isten ígéjét; hanem tisztán, sőt szinte Istenből szólunk az Isten előtt a Krisztusban.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Căci noi nu stricăm Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, cum fac cei mai mulţi; ci vorbim cu inimă curată, din partea lui Dumnezeu, înaintea lui Dumnezeu, în Hristos.

For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
