Törekedjetek a szeretetre, és buzgón kívánjátok a lelki ajándékokat, de leginkább azt, hogy prófétáljatok.

Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.

But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

Cine vorbeşte în altă limbă se zideşte pe sine însuşi; dar cine proroceşte zideşte sufleteşte Biserica.

The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

Szeretném ugyan, ha mindnyájan szólnátok nyelveken, de még inkább azt, ha prófétálnátok, mert nagyobb, aki prófétál, mint aki nyelveken szól, kivéve, ha megmagyarázza, hogy a gyülekezet épüljön.

I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

Ha pedig hozzátok megyek, és nyelveken szólok, testvéreim, mit használok nektek, ha nem szólok hozzátok kijelentésben vagy ismeretben vagy prófétálásban vagy tanításban?

Ha már most, atyámfiai, hozzátok megyek, és nyelveken szólok, mit használok néktek, ha vagy kijelentésben, vagy ismeretben, vagy prófétálásban, vagy tanításban nem szólok hozzátok?

Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?

Hiszen ha az élettelen hangszer – legyen akár fuvola, akár lant – nem ad megkülönböztethető hangokat, hogyan ismerjük meg, amit fuvoláznak vagy pengetnek?

Hiszen ha az élettelen hangszerek, akár fuvola, akár czitera, nem adnak megkülönböztethető hangokat, mimódon ismerjük meg, a mit fuvoláznak vagy cziteráznak?

And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

Chiar şi lucrurile neînsufleţite care dau un sunet, fie un fluier sau o lăută: dacă nu dau sunete desluşite, cine va cunoaşte ce se cântă cu fluierul sau cu lăuta?

If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?

Így van veletek is, ha nem érthető nyelven beszéltek: hogyan értik meg, amit mondotok? Csak a levegőbe fogtok beszélni.

So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

Tot aşa şi voi, dacă nu rostiţi cu limba o vorbă înţeleasă, cum se va pricepe ce spuneţi? Atunci parcă aţi vorbi în vânt.

So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air.

There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning,

Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.

Ezért ti is, mivel törekedtek a lelki ajándékokra, a gyülekezet építését keressétek, hogy gyarapodjatok.

Azonképen ti is, minthogy lelki ajándékokat kívántok, a gyülekezet építésére igyekezzetek, hogy gyarapodjatok.

Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Tot aşa şi voi, fiindcă râvniţi după daruri duhovniceşti, să căutaţi să le aveţi din belşug, în vederea zidirii sufleteşti a Bisericii.

So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Ce este de făcut atunci? Mă voi ruga cu duhul, dar mă voi ruga şi cu mintea; voi cânta cu duhul, dar voi cânta şi cu mintea.

What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.

Mert ha lélekkel áldasz, az ott levő avatatlan hogyan mond majd áment a te hálaadásodra, ha nem tudja, mit beszélsz?

Mert ha lélekkel mondasz áldást, az ott lévő avatatlan miképen fog a te hálaadásodra Áment mondani, mikor nem tudja, mit beszélsz?

Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

Altminteri, dacă aduci mulţumiri cu duhul, cum va răspunde „Amin”, la mulţumirile pe care le aduci tu, cel lipsit de daruri, când el nu ştie ce spui?

Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say “Amen” to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying?

Mert te ugyan szépen adsz hálát, de más nem épül abból.

Mert jóllehet, te szépen mondasz áldást, de más nem épül abból.

For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

Negreşit, tu mulţumeşti lui Dumnezeu foarte frumos, dar celălalt nu rămâne zidit sufleteşte.

For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up.

Hálát adok Istennek, hogy mindnyájatoknál jobban tudok nyelveken szólni,

Hálát adok az én Istenemnek, hogy mindnyájatoknál inkább tudok nyelveken szólni;

I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

Mulţumesc lui Dumnezeu că eu vorbesc în alte limbi mai mult decât voi toţi.

I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Dar în biserică, voiesc mai bine să spun cinci cuvinte înţelese, ca să învăţ şi pe alţii, decât să spun zece mii de cuvinte în altă limbă.

Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Testvéreim, értelem dolgában ne legyetek gyermekek, viszont a rosszban gyermekek legyetek, a gondolkozásban pedig érettek.

Atyámfiai, ne legyetek gyermekek értelemben; hanem a gonoszságban legyetek gyermekek, értelemben pedig érettek legyetek.

Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

Fraţilor, nu fiţi copii la minte; ci la răutate fiţi prunci; iar la minte fiţi oameni mari.

Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.

A törvényben meg van írva: Idegen nyelveken és idegenek ajkával szólok ehhez a néphez, és így sem fognak hallgatni rám azt mondja az Úr.

In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the LORD.

In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.”

Ha tehát az egész gyülekezet összejön, és mindnyájan nyelveken szólnak, és bemennek az avatatlanok vagy hitetlenek, nemde azt fogják mondani, hogy őrjöngtök?

Azért ha az egész gyülekezet egybegyűl és mindnyájan nyelveken szólnak, bemenvén az idegenek vagy hitetlenek, nem azt mondják-é, hogy őrjöngtök?

If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

Deci, dacă s-ar aduna toată Biserica la un loc, şi toţi ar vorbi în alte limbi, şi ar intra şi din cei fără daruri sau necredincioşi, n-ar zice ei că sunteţi nebuni?

If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

Dar, dacă toţi prorocesc, şi intră vreun necredincios sau vreunul fără daruri, el este încredinţat de toţi, este judecat de toţi.

But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,

és így szívének titkai nyilvánvalóvá lesznek, úgyhogy arcra borulva imádja Istent, hirdetve, hogy bizonnyal Isten lakik köztetek.

És ilyen módon az ő szívének titkai nyilvánvalókká lesznek; és így arczra borulva imádja az Istent, hirdetvén, hogy bizonynyal az Isten lakik ti bennetek.

And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

Tainele inimii lui sunt descoperite, aşa că va cădea cu faţa la pământ, se va închina lui Dumnezeu şi va mărturisi că, în adevăr, Dumnezeu este în mijlocul vostru.

the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

Mit mondjunk ezek után, testvéreim? Amikor összegyűltök, mindenkinek van zsoltára, tanítása, kijelentése, nyelveken szólása és annak magyarázata. Minden épülésre legyen.

Hogy van hát atyámfiai? Mikor egybegyűltök, mindeniteknek van zsoltára, tanítása, nyelve, kijelentése, magyarázata. Mindenek épülésre legyenek.

How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

Ce este de făcut atunci, fraţilor? Când vă adunaţi laolaltă, dacă unul din voi are o cântare, altul, o învăţătură, altul, o descoperire, altul, o vorbă în altă limbă, altul, o tălmăcire, toate să se facă spre zidirea sufletească.

What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

úgy nálatok is az asszonyok hallgassanak a gyülekezetben, mert nincs megengedve nekik, hogy szóljanak, hanem engedelmeskedjenek, ahogy a törvény is mondja.

A ti asszonyaitok hallgassanak a gyülekezetekben, mert nincsen megengedve nékik, hogy szóljanak; hanem engedelmesek legyenek, a mint a törvény is mondja.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

Femeile să tacă în adunări, căci lor nu le este îngăduit să ia cuvântul în ele, ci să fie supuse, cum zice şi Legea.

the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says.

Ha pedig tanulni akarnak, kérdezzék meg otthon a férjüket, mert illetlen dolog az asszonynak szólni a gyülekezetben.

Hogyha pedig tanulni akarnak valamit, kérdezzék meg otthon az ő férjüket; mert éktelen dolog asszonynak szólni a gyülekezetben.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Dacă voiesc să capete învăţătură asupra unui lucru, să întrebe pe bărbaţii lor acasă; căci este ruşine pentru o femeie să vorbească în biserică.

If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

Vajon tőletek indult ki Isten beszéde, vagy egyedül hozzátok jutott el?

Avagy ti tőletek származott-é az Isten beszéde, avagy csak hozzátok jutott el?

What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

Ce? De la voi a pornit Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu? Sau numai până la voi a ajuns el?

Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached?

Ha valaki azt gondolja, hogy ő próféta vagy lelki ajándék részese, vegye eszébe, hogy amiket nektek írok, azok az Úr rendeletei.

Ha valaki azt hiszi, hogy ő próféta, vagy lelki ajándék részese, vegye eszébe, hogy a miket néktek írok, az Úr rendeletei azok.

If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

Dacă crede cineva că este proroc sau insuflat de Dumnezeu, să înţeleagă că ce vă scriu eu este o poruncă a Domnului.

If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.

És ha valaki ezt nem ismeri el, azt sem fogják elismerni.

A ki pedig tudatlan, legyen tudatlan.

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

Şi, dacă cineva nu înţelege, să nu înţeleagă!

If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

Testvéreim, törekedjetek a prófétálásra, és a nyelveken szólást se tiltsátok.

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Astfel deci fraţilor, râvniţi după prorocire, fără să împiedicaţi vorbirea în alte limbi.

So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.
