Azért mi is, akiket a bizonyságok ily nagy fellege vesz körül, félretéve minden akadályt és a megkörnyékező bűnt, kitartással fussuk meg az előttünk levő küzdőteret.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Nézzünk a hit elkezdőjére és bevégzőjére, Jézusra, aki az előtte levő öröm helyett – a gyalázattal nem törődve – elszenvedte a keresztet, és Isten trónjának a jobbjára ült.

Nézvén a hitnek fejedelmére és bevégezőjére Jézusra, a ki az előtte levő öröm helyett, megvetve a gyalázatot, keresztet szenvedett, s az Isten királyi székének jobbjára ült.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Să ne uităm ţintă la Căpetenia şi Desăvârşirea credinţei noastre, adică la Isus, care, pentru bucuria care-I era pusă înainte, a suferit crucea, a dispreţuit ruşinea, şi şade la dreapta scaunului de domnie al lui Dumnezeu.

looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Gondoljatok arra, aki ilyen ellene való támadást szenvedett el a bűnösöktől, hogy lelketekben megfáradva el ne csüggedjetek.

Gondoljátok meg azért, hogy ő ily ellene való támadást szenvedett el a bűnösöktől, hogy el ne csüggedjetek lelkeitekben elalélván.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Uitaţi-vă, dar, cu luare aminte la Cel ce a suferit din partea păcătoşilor o împotrivire aşa de mare faţă de Sine, pentru ca nu cumva să vă pierdeţi inima şi să cădeţi de oboseală în sufletele voastre.

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

Mert a bűn elleni harcban még nem álltatok ellen egészen a vérig,

Mert még végig nem állottatok ellent, tusakodván a bűn ellen.

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Voi nu v-aţi împotrivit încă până la sânge, în lupta împotriva păcatului.

In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

és elfeledkeztetek az intésről, amely nektek mint fiaknak szól: Fiam, ne vesd meg az Úr fenyítését, és ne csüggedj el, ha megfedd téged,

És elfeledkeztetek-é az intésről, a mely néktek mint fiaknak szól: Fiam, ne vesd meg az Úrnak fenyítését, se meg ne lankadj, ha ő dorgál téged;

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

Şi aţi uitat sfatul pe care vi-l dă ca unor fii: „Fiule, nu dispreţui pedeapsa Domnului şi nu-ţi pierde inima când eşti mustrat de El.

And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.

Mert a kit szeret az Úr, megdorgálja, megostoroz pedig mindent, a kit fiává fogad.

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Căci Domnul pedepseşte pe cine-l iubeşte şi bate cu nuiaua pe orice fiu pe care-l primeşte.”

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

Szenvedjétek el a fenyítést, hiszen Isten úgy bánik veletek, mint fiaival. Mert melyik fiú az, akit nem fenyít meg az apja?

Ha a fenyítést elszenveditek, akkor veletek úgy bánik az Isten, mint fiaival; mert melyik fiú az, a kit meg nem fenyít az apa?

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Suferiţi pedeapsa: Dumnezeu Se poartă cu voi ca şi cu nişte fii. Căci care este fiul pe care nu-l pedepseşte tatăl?

It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Ha pedig fenyítés nélkül valók vagytok, amelyben mindenki részesül, akkor korcsok vagytok, nem pedig fiak.

Ha pedig fenyítés nélkül valók vagytok, melyben mindenek részesültek, korcsok vagytok és nem fiak.

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Dar, dacă sunteţi scutiţi de pedeapsă, de care toţi au parte, sunteţi nişte feciori din curvie, iar nu fii.

If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Şi apoi, dacă părinţii noştri trupeşti ne-au pedepsit, şi tot le-am dat cinstea cuvenită, nu trebuie oare cu atât mai mult să ne supunem Tatălui duhurilor, şi să trăim?

Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Căci ei în adevăr ne pedepseau pentru puţine zile, cum credeau ei că e bine; dar Dumnezeu ne pedepseşte pentru binele nostru, ca să ne facă părtaşi sfinţeniei Lui.

For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

Semmilyen fenyítés nem látszik jelenleg örvendetesnek, hanem keservesnek, ámde utóbb az igazság békességes gyümölcsével fizet azoknak, akik megedződtek általa.

Bármely fenyítés ugyan jelenleg nem látszik örvendetesnek, hanem keservesnek, ámde utóbb az igazságnak békességes gyümölcsével fizet azoknak, a kik általa gyakoroltatnak.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Este adevărat că orice pedeapsă, deocamdată pare o pricină de întristare, şi nu de bucurie; dar mai pe urmă aduce celor ce au trecut prin şcoala ei roada dătătoare de pace a neprihănirii.

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Azért a lankadt kezeket és megroggyant térdeket egyenesítsétek ki,

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

Întăriţi-vă, dar, mâinile obosite şi genunchii slăbănogiţi;

Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,

And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

croiţi cărări drepte cu picioarele voastre, pentru ca cel ce şchiopătă să nu se abată din cale, ci mai degrabă să fie vindecat.

and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

Törekedjetek mindenkivel a békességre és a megszentelődésre, amely nélkül senki sem látja meg az Urat,

Kövessétek mindenki irányában a békességet és a szentséget, a mely nélkül senki sem látja meg az Urat:

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Urmăriţi pacea cu toţi şi sfinţirea, fără care nimeni nu va vedea pe Domnul.

Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

vigyázva arra, hogy az Isten kegyelmétől ne szakadjon el senki, nehogy a keserűség bármely gyökere fölnövekedve zavart keltsen, és ez sokakat megfertőzzön.

Vigyázván arra, hogy az Isten kegyelmétől senki el ne szakadjon; nehogy a keserűségnek bármely gyökere, fölnevekedvén, megzavarjon, és ez által sokan megfertőztettessenek.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Luaţi seama bine ca nimeni să nu se abată de la harul lui Dumnezeu, pentru ca nu cumva să dea lăstari vreo rădăcină de amărăciune, să vă aducă tulburare, şi mulţi să fie întinaţi de ea.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.

Mert tudjátok, hogy később, amikor örökölni akarta az áldást, elutasították, mert nem találta meg a megbánás helyét, noha könnyek között kereste.

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Ştiţi că mai pe urmă, când a vrut să capete binecuvântarea, n-a fost primit; pentru că, măcar că o cerea cu lacrimi, n-a putut s-o schimbe.

For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest

trombita harsogásához és szózatok hangjához, amelyet akik hallottak, kérték, hogy ne szóljon hozzájuk.

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them.

(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

(pentru că nu puteau suferi porunca aceasta: „Chiar un dobitoc, dacă se va atinge de munte, să fie ucis cu pietre sau străpuns cu săgeata”.

For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.”

És olyan félelmetes volt a látvány, hogy Mózes is azt mondta: Megijedtem és reszketek.

És oly rettenetes volt a látomány, hogy Mózes is mondá: Megijedtem és remegek:

And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”

A „még egyszer” pedig azok megváltozását jelenti, amelyek mint teremtett dolgok megrendülhetnek, hogy megmaradjanak a rendíthetetlenek.

And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.

Azért mi, akik rendíthetetlen országot kaptunk, legyünk hálásak, és így szolgáljunk Istennek tetsző módon, kegyességgel és félelemmel.

Annakokáért mozdíthatatlan országot nyervén, legyünk háládatosak, melynél fogva szolgáljunk az Istennek tetsző módon kegyességgel és félelemmel.

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
