Igazságot szólok Krisztusban, nem hazudok, lelkiismeretem velem együtt tesz bizonyságot a Szentlélek által,

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

Spun adevărul în Hristos, nu mint; cugetul meu, luminat de Duhul Sfânt, îmi este martor,

I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit—

hogy nagy az én szomorúságom, és szüntelen való az én szívem fájdalma.

Hogy nagy az én szomorúságom és szüntelen való az én szívemnek fájdalma;

That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

că simt o mare întristare şi am o durere necurmată în inimă.

that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.

Mert kívánnám, hogy én magam átok legyek, elszakítva Krisztustól az én atyámfiaiért, test szerinti rokonaimért,

Mert kívánnám, hogy én magam átok legyek, [elszakasztva] a Krisztustól az én atyámfiaiért, a kik rokonaim test szerint;

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Căci aproape să doresc să fiu eu însumi anatema, despărţit de Hristos, pentru fraţii mei, rudele mele trupeşti.

For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.

akik izraeliták, akiké a fiúság, a dicsőség, a szövetségek, a törvényadás, az istentisztelet és az ígéretek,

A kik izráeliták, a kiké a fiúság és a dicsőség és a szövetségek, meg a törvényadás és az isteni tisztelet és az ígéretek;

Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Ei sunt israeliţi, au înfierea, slava, legămintele, darea Legii, slujba dumnezeiască, făgăduinţele,

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.

akiké az atyák, és akik közül való test szerint Krisztus is, aki Isten mindenek felett: áldott legyen mindörökké. Ámen.

A kiké az atyák, és a kik közül való test szerint a Krisztus, a ki mindeneknek felette örökké áldandó Isten. Ámen.

Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

patriarhii, şi din ei a ieşit, după trup, Hristosul, care este mai presus de toate lucrurile, Dumnezeu binecuvântat în veci. Amin!

To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

De az nem lehet, hogy Isten beszéde meghiúsult volna! Mert nem mindnyájan izraeliták azok, akik Izráeltől valók,

Nem lehet pedig, hogy meghiúsult legyen az Isten beszéde. Mert nem mindnyájan izráeliták azok, kik Izráeltől valók;

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Dar aceasta nu înseamnă că a rămas fără putere Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu. Căci nu toţi cei ce se coboară din Israel sunt Israel;

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

s nem mindnyájan Ábrahám gyermekei, akik az ő magvából valók, hanem az Izsákét nevezik majd utódodnak.

Sem nem mindnyájan fiak, kik az Ábrahám magvából valók; hanem: Izsákban neveztetik néked a te magod.

Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

şi, măcar că sunt sămânţa lui Avraam, nu toţi sunt copiii lui Avraam; ci este scris: „În Isaac vei avea o sămânţă care-ţi va purta numele.”

and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”

Azaz nem a test szerinti gyermekek az Isten gyermekei, hanem az ígéret gyermekei számítanak utódoknak.

Azaz, nem a testnek fiai az Isten fiai; hanem az ígéret fiait tekinti magul.

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Aceasta înseamnă că nu copiii trupeşti sunt copii ai lui Dumnezeu; ci copiii făgăduinţei sunt socotiţi ca sămânţă.

This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.

Mert az ígéret szava ez: Ez idő tájban eljövök, és Sárának fia lesz.

Mert ígéretnek beszéde ez: Ez idő tájban eljövök, és Sárának fia lesz.

For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.

Căci cuvântul acesta este o făgăduinţă: „Pe vremea aceasta Mă voi întoarce, şi Sara va avea un fiu.”

For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”

De nemcsak ő, hanem Rebeka is, aki egytől, Izsáktól, a mi atyánktól fogant fiakat.

Nemcsak pedig, hanem Rebeka is, ki egytől fogant méhében, Izsáktól a mi atyánktól:

And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;

Ba mai mult, tot aşa a fost cu Rebeca. Ea a zămislit doi gemeni numai de la părintele nostru Isaac.

And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,

Mert amikor még meg sem születtek, és semmi jót vagy rosszat nem tettek, de hogy Istennek a kiválasztáson alapuló elhatározása érvényesüljön – nem a cselekedetek szerint, hanem az elhívó akarata szerint –,

Mert mikor még meg sem születtek, sem semmi jót vagy gonoszt nem cselekedtek, hogy az Istennek kiválasztás szerint való végzése megmaradjon, nem cselekedetekből, hanem az elhívótól,

(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

Căci, măcar că cei doi gemeni nu se născuseră încă şi nu făcuseră nici bine, nici rău – ca să rămână în picioare hotărârea mai dinainte a lui Dumnezeu, prin care se făcea o alegere, nu prin fapte, ci prin Cel ce cheamă –

though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—

megmondatott neki, hogy a nagyobbik szolgál a kisebbnek.

Megmondatott néki, hogy: A nagyobbik szolgál a kisebbiknek.

It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

s-a zis Rebecăi: „Cel mai mare va fi rob celui mai mic”,

she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”

Amint az meg van írva: Jákóbot szerettem, Ézsaut pedig gyűlöltem.

Miképen meg van írva: Jákóbot szerettem, Ézsaut pedig gyűlöltem.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

după cum este scris: „Pe Iacov l-am iubit, iar pe Esau l-am urât.”

As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

Mit mondunk tehát? Vajon nem igazságtalanság ez Isten részéről? Semmiképpen!

Mit mondunk tehát: Vajjon nem igazságtalanság-é [ez] az Istentől? Távol legyen!

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

Deci ce vom zice? Nu cumva este nedreptate în Dumnezeu? Nicidecum!

What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!

Mert Mózesnek ezt mondja: Könyörülök azon, akin könyörülök, és kegyelmezek annak, akinek kegyelmezek.

Mert Mózesnek ezt mondja: Könyörülök azon, a kin könyörülök, és kegyelmezek annak, a kinek kegyelmezek.

For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Căci El a zis lui Moise: „Voi avea milă de oricine-Mi va plăcea să am milă; şi Mă voi îndura de oricine-Mi va plăcea să Mă îndur.”

For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

Azért tehát nem azé, aki akarja, nem is azé, aki fut, hanem a könyörülő Istené.

Annakokáért tehát nem azé, a ki akarja, sem nem azé, a ki fut, hanem a könyörülő Istené.

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Aşadar, nu atârnă nici de cine vrea, nici de cine aleargă, ci de Dumnezeu care are milă.

So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

Mert azt mondja az Írás a fáraónak: Azért támasztottalak téged, hogy megmutassam rajtad hatalmamat, és hogy hirdessék nevemet az egész földön.

Mert azt mondja az írás a Faraónak, hogy: Azért támasztottalak téged, hogy megmutassam benned az én hatalmamat, és hogy hirdessék az én nevemet az egész földön.

For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Fiindcă Scriptura zice lui faraon: „Te-am ridicat înadins, ca să-Mi arăt în tine puterea Mea şi pentru ca Numele Meu să fie vestit în tot pământul.”

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

Azért akin akar, könyörül, akit pedig akar, megkeményít.

Annakokáért a kin akar könyörül, a kit pedig akar, megkeményít.

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Astfel, El are milă de cine vrea, şi împietreşte pe cine vrea.

So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

Mondhatnád azért nekem: Akkor miért hibáztat engem? Hiszen ki állhat ellene az ő akaratának?

Mondod azért nékem: Miért fedd hát [engem?] [Hiszen] az ő akaratának kicsoda áll ellene?

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

Dar îmi vei zice: „Atunci de ce mai bagă vină? Căci cine poate sta împotriva voii Lui?”

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”

De hát ki vagy te, ó, ember, hogy perbe szállsz Istennel? Vajon mondja-e a készítmény a készítőjének: Miért formáltál engem ilyenre?

Sőt inkább kicsoda vagy te óh ember, hogy versengsz az Istennel? Avagy mondja-é a készítmény a készítőnek: Miért csináltál engem így?

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Dar, mai degrabă, cine eşti tu, omule, ca să răspunzi împotriva lui Dumnezeu? Nu cumva vasul de lut va zice celui ce l-a făcut: „Pentru ce m-ai făcut aşa”?

But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”

Avagy nincs-e a fazekasnak hatalma az agyagon, hogy ugyanabból a gyuradékból az egyik edényt díszesre, a másikat pedig közönségesre készítse?

Avagy nincsen-é a fazekasnak hatalma az agyagon, hogy ugyanazon gyuradékból némely edényt tisztességre, némelyt pedig becstelenségre csináljon?

Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

Nu este olarul stăpân pe lutul lui, ca din aceeaşi frământătură de lut să facă un vas pentru o întrebuinţare de cinste, şi un alt vas pentru o întrebuinţare de ocară?

Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?

Isten pedig, amikor meg akarta mutatni az ő haragját, és meg akarta ismertetni az ő hatalmát, nagy béketűréssel elszenvedte a harag edényeit, amelyek veszedelemre készültek,

Ha pedig az Isten az ő haragját megmutatni és hatalmát megismertetni kívánván, nagy békességes tűréssel elszenvedte a harag edényeit, melyek veszedelemre készíttettek,

What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Şi ce putem spune, dacă Dumnezeu, fiindcă voia să-Şi arate mânia şi să-Şi descopere puterea, a suferit cu multă răbdare nişte vase ale mâniei, făcute pentru piere;

What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

azért, hogy megismertesse az ő dicsőségének gazdagságát az irgalom edényein, amelyeket eleve dicsőségre készített.

És hogy megismertesse az ő dicsőségének gazdagságát az irgalom edényein, melyeket eleve elkészített a dicsőségre, [mit szólhatsz ellene?]

And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

şi să-Şi arate bogăţia slavei Lui faţă de nişte vase ale îndurării pe care le-a pregătit mai dinainte pentru slavă (despre noi vorbesc)?

in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

Ilyeneknek hívott el minket is, nemcsak a zsidók, hanem a pogányok közül is,

A kikül el is hívott minket nemcsak a zsidók, hanem a pogányok közül is,

Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Astfel, El ne-a chemat nu numai dintre iudei, ci şi dintre Neamuri,

even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?

amint Hóseásnál is mondja: Azt, amelyik „nem népem”, népemnek hívom, és a „nem szeretettet” szeretettnek.

A mint Hóseásnál is mondja: Hívom a nem én népemet én népemnek; és a nem szerettet szeretettnek.

As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

după cum zice în Osea: „Voi numi „popor al Meu” pe cel ce nu era poporul Meu şi „preaiubită” pe cea care nu era preaiubită.

As indeed he says in Hosea, “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’”

És lesz, hogy azon a helyen, ahol ezt mondták nekik: „Ti nem vagytok az én népem”, ott az élő Isten fiainak fogják őket hívni.

És lészen, hogy azon a helyen, a hol ez mondatott nékik: Ti nem vagytok az én népem, ott az élő Isten fiainak fognak hívatni.

And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Şi acolo unde li se zicea: „Voi nu sunteţi poporul Meu”, vor fi numiţi fii ai Dumnezeului celui Viu.”

“And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”

Ézsaiás pedig ezt hirdeti Izráelről: Ha Izráel fiainak száma annyi volna is, mint a tenger homokja, csak a maradék üdvözül.

Ésaiás pedig ezt kiáltja Izráel felől: Ha Izráel fiainak száma [annyi] volna is, mint a tenger fövenye, a maradék tartatik meg.

Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Isaia, de altă parte, strigă cu privire la Israel: „Chiar dacă numărul fiilor lui Israel ar fi ca nisipul mării, numai rămăşiţa va fi mântuită.

And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved,

Mert az Úr gyorsan valóra váltja és beteljesíti szavát a földön.

Mert a dolgot bevégezi és rövidre metszi igazságban; mivel rövidesen végez az Úr a földön.

For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

Căci Domnul va împlini pe deplin şi repede pe pământ Cuvântul Lui.”

for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.”

Ahogyan Ézsaiás előre megmondta: Ha a Seregek Ura nem hagyott volna magot nekünk, olyanná lettünk volna, mint Sodoma, és Gomorához lettünk volna hasonlók.

És a mint Ésaiás előre megmondotta: Ha a Seregeknek Ura nem hagyott volna nékünk magot, olyanokká lettünk volna, mint Sodoma, és Gomorához volnánk hasonlók.

And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

Şi, cum zisese Isaia mai înainte: „Dacă nu ne-ar fi lăsat Domnul Savaot o sămânţă, am fi ajuns ca Sodoma şi ne-am fi asemănat cu Gomora.”

And as Isaiah predicted, “If the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.”

Mit mondjunk tehát? Azt, hogy a pogányok, akik nem törekedtek az igazságra, elnyerték az igazságot, mégpedig a hitből való igazságot;

Mit mondunk hát? Azt, hogy a pogányok, a kik az igazságot nem követték, az igazságot elnyerték, még pedig a hitből való igazságot;

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

Deci ce vom zice? Neamurile, care nu umblau după neprihănire, au căpătat neprihănirea, şi anume, neprihănirea care se capătă prin credinţă;

What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith;

Izráel viszont, amely törekedett az igazság törvényére, nem jutott el erre a törvény alapján.

Izráel ellenben, mely az igazság törvényét követte, nem jutott el az igazság törvényére.

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

pe când Israel, care umbla după o Lege care să dea neprihănirea, n-a ajuns la Legea aceasta.

but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law.

Miért? Azért, mert nem hitből keresték, hanem cselekedetek útján akarták elérni, és beleütköztek a megütközés kövébe,

Miért? Azért, mert nem hitből [keresték,] hanem mintha a törvény cselekedeteiből volna. Mert beleütköztek a beleütközés kövébe,

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Pentru ce? Pentru că Israel n-a căutat-o prin credinţă, ci prin fapte. Ei s-au lovit de Piatra de poticnire,

Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,

amint meg van írva: Íme, megütközés kövét és megbotránkozás szikláját teszem Sionba, és aki hisz benne, nem szégyenül meg.

A mint meg van írva: Ímé beleütközés kövét és megbotránkozás szikláját teszem Sionba; és a ki hisz benne, nem szégyenül meg.

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

după cum este scris: „Iată că pun în Sion o Piatră de poticnire şi o Stâncă de cădere: şi cine crede în El nu va fi dat de ruşine.”

as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
