Avagy nem tudjátok, testvéreim, mert törvényismerőkhöz szólok, hogy a törvény csak addig uralkodik az emberen, amíg él?

Avagy nem tudjátok-é atyámfiai, mert törvényismerőkhöz szólok, hogy a törvény uralkodik az emberen, a míg él?

Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Nu ştiţi, fraţilor – căci vorbesc unor oameni care cunosc Legea – că Legea are stăpânire asupra omului câtă vreme trăieşte el?

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?

Mert a férjes asszonyt a törvény a férjéhez köti, amíg él a férj, de ha meghal a férj, az asszony feloldást nyer a férj törvénye alól.

Mert a férjes asszony, míg él a férj, ehhez van kötve törvény szerint, de ha meghal a férj, felszabadul [az asszony] a férj törvénye alól.

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

Căci femeia măritată este legată prin Lege de bărbatul ei câtă vreme trăieşte el; dar dacă-i moare bărbatul, este dezlegată de legea bărbatului ei.

For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage.

Ha férje életében más férfié lesz, az házasságtörésnek számít, ha azonban meghal a férje, nem köti a törvény, úgyhogy nem lesz házasságtörő, ha más férfié lesz.

Azért tehát az ő férjének életében paráznának mondatik, ha más férfihoz megy; ha azonban meghal a férje, szabaddá lesz a törvénytől, úgy hogy nem lesz parázna, ha más férfihoz megy.

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Dacă deci, când îi trăieşte bărbatul, ea se mărită după altul, se va chema preacurvă; dar dacă-i moare bărbatul, este dezlegată de lege, aşa că nu mai este preacurvă, dacă se mărită după altul.

Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.

Éppígy ti is, testvéreim, meghaltatok a törvénynek Krisztus teste által, hogy máséi legyetek, azéi, aki feltámadt a halottak közül, hogy gyümölcsöt teremjünk Istennek.

Azért atyámfiai, ti is meghaltatok a törvénynek a Krisztus teste által, hogy legyetek máséi, azéi, a ki a halálból feltámasztatott, hogy gyümölcsöt teremjünk Istennek.

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Tot astfel, fraţii mei, prin trupul lui Hristos, şi voi aţi murit în ce priveşte Legea, ca să fiţi ai altuia, adică ai Celui ce a înviat din morţi; şi aceasta, ca să aducem rod pentru Dumnezeu.

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.

Mert amíg test szerint éltünk, a bűnök indulatai a törvény által dolgoztak a tagjainkban, hogy gyümölcsöt teremjenek a halálnak.

Mert mikor a testben voltunk, a bűnök indulatai a törvény által dolgoztak a mi tagjainkban, hogy gyümölcsözzenek a halálnak;

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Căci, când trăiam sub firea noastră pământească, patimile păcatelor, aţâţate de Lege, lucrau în mădularele noastre şi ne făceau să aducem roade pentru moarte.

For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

Most azonban, miután meghaltunk arra nézve, ami fogva tartott bennünket, megszabadultunk a törvénytől, hogy a Lélek újdonságában szolgáljunk, nem pedig a betű ódonságában.

Most pedig megszabadultunk a törvénytől, minekutána meghaltunk arra nézve, a mely által lekötve tartattunk; hogy szolgáljunk a léleknek újságában és nem a betű óságában.

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Dar acum, am fost izbăviţi de Lege şi suntem morţi faţă de Legea aceasta care ne ţinea robi, pentru ca să slujim lui Dumnezeu într-un duh nou, iar nu după vechea slovă.

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Mit mondunk tehát? A törvény bűn? Semmiképpen! Hisz a bűnt is csak a törvény által ismertem meg, mert a kívánságról sem tudtam volna, ha a törvény nem mondaná: Ne kívánd.

Mit mondunk tehát? A törvény bűn-é? Távol legyen: sőt inkább a bűnt nem ismertem, hanem csak a törvény által; mert a kívánságról sem tudtam volna, ha a törvény nem mondaná: Ne kívánjad.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Deci ce vom zice? Legea este ceva păcătos? Nicidecum! Dimpotrivă, păcatul nu l-am cunoscut decât prin Lege. De pildă, n-aş fi cunoscut pofta, dacă Legea nu mi-ar fi spus: „Să nu pofteşti!”

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”

De a bűn, kihasználva az alkalmat, a parancsolat által mindenféle kívánságot ébresztett bennem. Mert törvény nélkül halott a bűn.

De a bűn alkalmat vévén, a parancsolat által nemzett bennem minden kívánságot; mert törvény nélkül holt a bűn.

But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Apoi păcatul a luat prilejul şi a făcut să se nască în mine, prin poruncă, tot felul de pofte; căci fără Lege, păcatul este mort.

But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

Én egykor törvény nélkül éltem, a parancsolat megjelenésével azonban életre kelt bennem a bűn,

Én pedig éltem régen a törvény nélkül: de ama parancsolatnak eljövetelével felelevenedék a bűn,

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Odinioară, fiindcă eram fără Lege, trăiam; dar, când a venit porunca, păcatul a înviat, şi eu am murit.

I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died.

én pedig meghaltam, és az a parancsolat, amely életet ígért, halálomra lett.

Én pedig meghalék; és úgy találtaték, hogy az a parancsolat, mely életre való, nékem halálomra van.

And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

Şi porunca, ea, care trebuia să-mi dea viaţa, mi-a pricinuit moartea.

The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me.

Mert a bűn kihasználta a parancsolat által adott lehetőséget, megcsalt engem, és megölt általa.

Mert a bűn alkalmat vévén, ama parancsolat által megcsalt engem, és megölt általa.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Pentru că păcatul a luat prilejul, prin ea m-a amăgit, şi prin însăşi porunca aceasta m-a lovit cu moartea.

For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me.

De a törvény szent, és a parancsolat szent, igaz és jó.

Azért ám a törvény szent, és a parancsolat szent és igaz és jó.

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Aşa că Legea, negreşit, este sfântă, şi porunca este sfântă, dreaptă şi bună.

So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

Akkor hát a jó halálomra lett nekem? Semmiképpen! De azért, hogy a bűn bűn mivolta nyilvánvaló legyen, a jó által a halált munkálja, hogy így a bűn a parancsolat által igen nagy vétekké legyen.

Tehát a jó nékem halálom lett-é? Távol legyen: sőt inkább a bűn [az,] hogy megtessék a bűn, mely a jó által nékem halált szerez, hogy felette igen bűnös legyen a bűn a parancsolat által.

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Atunci, un lucru bun mi-a dat moartea? Nicidecum. Dar păcatul, tocmai ca să iasă la iveală ca păcat, mi-a dat moartea printr-un lucru bun, pentru ca păcatul să se arate afară din cale de păcătos, prin faptul că se slujea de aceeaşi poruncă.

Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.

Mert tudjuk, hogy a törvény lelki, de én testi vagyok, kiszolgáltatva a bűnnek.

Mert tudjuk, hogy a törvény lelki; de én testi vagyok, a bűn alá rekesztve.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Ştim, în adevăr, că Legea este duhovnicească; dar eu sunt pământesc, vândut rob păcatului.

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.

Mert magam sem értem, mit teszek. Mert nem azt teszem, amit akarok, hanem azt teszem, amit gyűlölök.

Mert a mit cselekeszem, nem ismerem: mert nem azt mívelem, a mit akarok, hanem a mit gyűlölök, azt cselekeszem.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

Căci nu ştiu ce fac: nu fac ce vreau, ci fac ce urăsc.

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

Ha pedig azt teszem, amit nem akarok, akkor egyetértek a törvénnyel, hogy jó.

Ha pedig azt cselekszem, a mit nem akarok, megegyezem a törvénnyel, hogy jó.

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

Acum, dacă fac ce nu vreau, mărturisesc prin aceasta că Legea este bună.

Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good.

Akkor tehát már nem is én teszem azt, hanem a bennem lakozó bűn.

Most azért már nem én cselekszem azt, hanem a bennem lakozó bűn.

Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

Şi atunci, nu mai sunt eu cel ce face lucrul acesta, ci păcatul care locuieşte în mine.

So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

Mert tudom, hogy nem lakik bennem, vagyis az én testemben jó, mert az akarás megvan bennem, de a jó véghezvitelét nem találom.

Mert tudom, hogy nem lakik én bennem, azaz a testemben jó; mert az akarás megvan bennem, de a jó véghezvitelét nem találom.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Ştiu, în adevăr, că nimic bun nu locuieşte în mine, adică în firea mea pământească, pentru că, ce-i drept, am voinţa să fac binele, dar n-am puterea să-l fac.

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

Mert nem a jót cselekszem, amit akarok, hanem a gonoszt teszem, amit nem akarok.

Mert nem a jót cselekeszem, melyet akarok; hanem a gonoszt cselekeszem, melyet nem akarok.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Căci binele pe care vreau să-l fac, nu-l fac, ci răul pe care nu vreau să-l fac, iată ce fac!

For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

Ha pedig azt teszem, amit nem akarok, akkor már nem én teszem azt, hanem a bennem lakozó bűn.

Ha pedig én azt cselekeszem, a mit nem akarok, nem én mívelem már azt, hanem a bennem lakozó bűn.

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

Şi dacă fac ce nu vreau să fac, nu mai sunt eu cel ce face lucrul acesta, ci păcatul care locuieşte în mine.

Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

Magamban tehát azt a törvényt találom, hogy jóllehet a jót akarom cselekedni, mégis a gonosz van hozzám közel.

Megtalálom azért magamban, ki a jót akarom cselekedni, ezt a törvényt, hogy a bűn megvan bennem.

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Găsesc, dar, în mine legea aceasta: când vreau să fac binele, răul este lipit de mine.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.

Mert gyönyörködöm az Isten törvényében a belső ember szerint,

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

Fiindcă, după omul dinăuntru, îmi place Legea lui Dumnezeu;

For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,

de látok egy másik törvényt a tagjaimban, amely ellenkezik az elmém törvényével, és engem a tagjaimban levő bűn törvényének a rabságába hajt.

De látok egy másik törvényt az én tagjaimban, mely ellenkezik az elmém törvényével, és engem rabul ád a bűn törvényének, mely van az én tagjaimban.

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

dar văd în mădularele mele o altă lege care se luptă împotriva legii primite de mintea mea şi mă ţine rob legii păcatului care este în mădularele mele.

but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Ó, én nyomorult ember! Ki szabadít meg engem e halálnak testéből?

Óh én nyomorult ember! Kicsoda szabadít meg engem e halálnak testéből?

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

O, nenorocitul de mine! Cine mă va izbăvi de acest trup de moarte…?

Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Hála az Istennek, a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus! Én tehát az értelmemmel Isten törvényének, de a testemmel a bűn törvényének szolgálok.

Hálát adok Istennek a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus által. Azért jóllehet én az elmémmel az Isten törvényének, de testemmel a bűn törvényének szolgálok.

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Mulţumiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, prin Isus Hristos, Domnul nostru!… Astfel, dar, cu mintea, eu slujesc Legii lui Dumnezeu; dar cu firea pământească slujesc legii păcatului.

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
