Mindenki engedelmeskedjék a felettes hatalmaknak, mert nincs hatalom mástól, csak Istentől, a meglévő felsőbbségeket Isten rendelte.

Minden lélek engedelmeskedjék a felső hatalmasságoknak; mert nincsen hatalmasság, hanem csak Istentől: és a mely hatalmasságok vannak, az Istentől rendeltettek.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Oricine să fie supus stăpânirilor celor mai înalte; căci nu este stăpânire care să nu vină de la Dumnezeu. Şi stăpânirile care sunt, au fost rânduite de Dumnezeu.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Azért, aki szembeszáll a felsőbbséggel, az Isten rendelése ellen szegül, az ellenszegülők pedig ítéletet vonnak magukra.

Azért, a ki ellene támad a hatalmasságnak, az Isten rendelésének támad ellene; a kik pedig ellene támadnak, önmagoknak ítéletet szereznek.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

De aceea, cine se împotriveşte stăpânirii, se împotriveşte rânduielii puse de Dumnezeu; şi cei ce se împotrivesc îşi vor lua osânda.

Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

Mert a hatóságok nem a jó, hanem a rossz cselekedetek büntetésére vannak. Akarod, hogy ne kelljen félned a hatalomtól? Tedd a jót, és dicsérni fog téged,

Mert a fejedelmek nem a jó, hanem a rossz cselekedetnek rettegésére vannak. Akarod-é pedig, hogy ne félj a hatalmasságtól? Cselekedjed a jót, és dícséreted lesz attól.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

Dregătorii nu sunt de temut pentru o faptă bună, ci pentru una rea. Vrei, dar, să nu-ţi fie frică de stăpânire? Fă binele, şi vei avea laudă de la ea.

For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,

mert Isten szolgája ő a te javadra. Ha pedig a gonoszt teszed, félj, mert nem ok nélkül viseli a fegyvert, mert Isten szolgája, aki az ő haragját hajtja végre azon, aki gonoszt cselekszik.

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

El este slujitorul lui Dumnezeu pentru binele tău. Dar, dacă faci răul, teme-te, căci nu degeaba poartă sabia. El este în slujba lui Dumnezeu, ca să-L răzbune şi să pedepsească pe cel ce face rău.

for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.

De nemcsak a büntetés miatt, hanem a lelkiismeretért is engedelmeskedni kell.

Annakokáért szükség engedelmeskedni, nem csak a haragért, hanem a lelkiismeretért is.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

De aceea, trebuie să fiţi supuşi nu numai de frica pedepsei, ci şi din îndemnul cugetului.

Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

Azért fizettek adót is, mert ők Isten szolgái, akik éppen ebben a tisztükben fáradoznak.

Mert azért fizettek adót is; mivelhogy Istennek szolgái, kik ugyanabban foglalatoskodnak.

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Tot pentru aceasta să plătiţi şi birurile. Căci dregătorii sunt nişte slujitori ai lui Dumnezeu, făcând necurmat tocmai slujba aceasta.

For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.

Adjátok meg azért mindenkinek, amivel tartoztok: akinek az adóval, annak az adót, akinek a vámmal, annak a vámot, akinek a félelemmel, annak a félelmet, akinek a tisztelettel, annak a tiszteletet.

Adjátok meg azért mindenkinek, a mivel tartoztok: a kinek az adóval, az adót; a kinek a vámmal, a vámot; a kinek a félelemmel, a félelmet; a kinek a tisztességgel, a tisztességet.

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Daţi tuturor ce sunteţi datori să daţi: cui datoraţi birul, daţi-i birul; cui datoraţi vama, daţi-i vama; cui datoraţi frica, daţi-i frica; cui datoraţi cinstea, daţi-i cinstea.

Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

Senkinek semmivel ne tartozzatok, hanem csak azzal, hogy egymást szeressétek, mert aki a másik embert szereti, az betöltötte a törvényt.

Senkinek semmivel ne tartozzatok, hanem csak [azzal,] hogy egymást szeressétek; mert a ki szereti a felebarátját, a törvényt betöltötte.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Să nu datoraţi nimănui nimic, decât să vă iubiţi unii pe alţii: căci cine iubeşte pe alţii a împlinit Legea.

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Mert ez: Ne paráználkodj, ne ölj, ne lopj, ne kívánd – és ha valamely más parancsolat van –, ebben az igében van összefoglalva: Szeresd felebarátodat, mint önmagadat.

Mert ez: Ne paráználkodjál, ne ölj, ne orozz, hamis tanubizonyságot ne szólj, ne kívánj, és ha valamely más parancsolat van, ebben az ígében foglaltatik egybe: Szeressed felebarátodat mint temagadat.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

De fapt: „Să nu preacurveşti, să nu furi, să nu faci nicio mărturisire mincinoasă, să nu pofteşti” şi orice altă poruncă mai poate fi, se cuprind în porunca aceasta: „Să iubeşti pe aproapele tău ca pe tine însuţi.”

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

A szeretet nem tesz rosszat a felebaráttal. Tehát a törvény betöltése a szeretet.

A szeretet nem illeti gonoszszal a felebarátot. Annakokáért a törvénynek betöltése a szeretet.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Dragostea nu face rău aproapelui: dragostea deci este împlinirea Legii.

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Mindezt tegyétek meg, mert tudjátok az időt, eljött az óra, hogy az álomból felserkenjünk, mert most közelebb van hozzánk az üdvösség, mint amikor hívőkké lettünk.

Ezt pedig cselekedjétek, tudván az időt, hogy ideje már, hogy az álomból felserkenjünk; mert most közelebb van hozzánk az idvesség, mint a mikor hívőkké lettünk.

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Şi aceasta cu atât mai mult, cu cât ştiţi în ce împrejurări ne aflăm: este ceasul să vă treziţi în sfârşit din somn; căci acum mântuirea este mai aproape de noi decât atunci când am crezut.

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.

Az éjszaka múlóban, a nappal pedig elközelgett, vessük le azért a sötétség cselekedeteit, és öltsük fel a világosság fegyvereit.

Az éjszaka elmúlt, a nap pedig elközelgett; vessük el azért a sötétségnek cselekedeteit, és öltözzük fel a világosság fegyvereit.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Noaptea aproape a trecut, se apropie ziua. Să ne dezbrăcăm, dar, de faptele întunericului şi să ne îmbrăcăm cu armele luminii.

The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Tisztességesen járjunk, amint illik nappal, nem dorbézolásokban és részegeskedésekben, nem paráználkodásokban és kicsapongásokban, nem viszálykodásban és irigységben,

Mint nappal, ékesen járjunk, nem dobzódásokban és részegségekben, nem bujálkodásokban és feslettségekben, nem versengésben és írigységben:

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Să trăim frumos, ca în timpul zilei, nu în chefuri şi în beţii; nu în curvii şi în fapte de ruşine; nu în certuri şi în pizmă;

Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.
