Vigyázz a lépteidre, mikor Isten házába mész, mert jobb, ha engedelmesen közeledsz, mint ha bolondok módjára viszed oda áldozatodat! Mert az ilyenek nem tudják, hogy gonoszul cselekszenek.

Őrizd meg lábaidat, mikor az Istennek házához mégy, mert hallgatás végett közeledned jobb, hogynem a bolondok módja szerint áldozatot adni; mert ezek nem tudják, hogy gonoszt cselekesznek.

Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

Păzeşte-ţi piciorul când intri în Casa lui Dumnezeu şi apropie-te mai bine să asculţi decât să aduci jertfa nebunilor; căci ei nu ştiu că fac rău cu aceasta.

Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.

Ne légy gyors a szólásra, és ne elhamarkodottan szólj szívedből Isten előtt, mert Isten a mennyben van, te pedig a földön. Azért hát kevés beszédű légy.

Ne gyorsalkodjál a te száddal, és a te elméd ne siessen valamit szólni Isten előtt; mert az Isten mennyben van, te pedig e földön, azért a te beszéded kevés legyen;

Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Nu te grăbi să deschizi gura, şi să nu-ţi rostească inima cuvinte pripite înaintea lui Dumnezeu; căci Dumnezeu este în cer, şi tu, pe pământ, de aceea să nu spui vorbe multe.

Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

Mert ahogyan álom következik a sok foglalatosságból, úgy lesz a sok beszédből bolond beszéd.

Mert álom szokott következni a sok foglalatosságból; és a sok beszédből bolond beszéd.

For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

Căci, dacă visele se nasc din mulţimea grijilor, prostia nebunului se cunoaşte din mulţimea cuvintelor.

For a dream comes with much business, and a fool’s voice with many words.

Ha Istennek fogadalmat teszel, ne halogasd annak megadását, mert nem telik kedve a bolondokban. Amit megfogadsz, azt teljesítsd!

Mikor Istennek fogadást téssz, ne halogasd annak megadását; mert nem gyönyörködik a bolondokban. A mit fogadsz, megteljesítsd!

When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

Dacă ai făcut o juruinţă lui Dumnezeu, nu zăbovi s-o împlineşti, căci Lui nu-I plac cei fără minte; de aceea împlineşte juruinţa pe care ai făcut-o.

When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.

Jobb, ha nem teszel fogadalmat annál, mint hogy fogadalmadat nem teljesíted.

Jobb hogy ne fogadj, hogynem mint fogadj és ne teljesítsd be.

Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

Mai bine să nu faci nicio juruinţă decât să faci o juruinţă, şi să n-o împlineşti.

It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.

Ne engedd, hogy szád bűnbe vigyen, és ne mondd Isten követe előtt, hogy ez tévedésből esett meg. Miért háborodjon föl Isten beszéded miatt, és miért pusztítsa el kezed munkáját?

Ne engedd a te szádnak, hogy bűnre kötelezze testedet, és ne mondd az angyal előtt, hogy tévedésből [esett] ez; hogy az Isten a te beszéded miatt fel ne háborodjék, és el ne veszesse a te kezeidnek munkáját.

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?

Nu lăsa gura să te bage în păcat şi nu zice înaintea trimisului lui Dumnezeu: „M-am pripit.” Pentru ce să Se mânie Dumnezeu din pricina cuvintelor tale şi să nimicească lucrarea mâinilor tale?

Let not your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands?

Mert a sok álommal és a sok beszéddel sok hiábavalóság is jár. Ezért féld az Istent!

Mert a sok álomban a hiábavalóság is és a beszéd is sok; hanem az Istent féljed.

For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

Căci, dacă este deşertăciune în mulţimea viselor, nu mai puţin este şi în mulţimea vorbelor; de aceea, teme-te de Dumnezeu.

For when dreams increase and words grow many, there is vanity; but God is the one you must fear.

Ha a szegények elnyomását és a törvény meg az igazság elferdítését látod az országban, ne lepődj meg, mert az egyik magas rangúra egy még magasabb rangú ügyel, és ezek fölött még magasabb rangúak vannak.

Ha a szegényeknek nyomoríttatását, és a törvénynek és igazságnak elfordíttatását látod a tartományban: ne csudálkozzál e dolgon; mert [egyik] felsőrendű vigyáz a [másik] felsőrendűre, és ezek felett [még] felsőbbrendűek [vannak.]

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Când vezi în ţară pe cel sărac, năpăstuit şi jefuit în numele dreptului şi dreptăţii, să nu te miri de lucrul acesta! Căci peste cel mare veghează altul mai mare, şi peste ei toţi, Cel Preaînalt.

If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.

De mindezek fölött az ország javára van a földművelést pártoló király.

Az ország haszna pedig mindenekfelett a földmívelést [kedvelő ]király.

Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.

Dar un folos pentru ţară, în toate privinţele, este un împărat preţuit în ţară.

But this is gain for a land in every way: a king committed to cultivated fields.

Aki szereti a pénzt, nem telik be vele, és aki szereti a bőséget, sosem elégszik meg jövedelmével. Ez is hiábavalóság.

A ki szereti a pénzt, nem telik be pénzzel, és a ki szereti a sokaságot [nem telik be] jövedelemmel. Ez is hiábavalóság.

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

Cine iubeşte argintul nu se satură niciodată de argint, şi cine iubeşte bogăţia multă nu trage folos din ea. Şi aceasta este o deşertăciune!

He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.

Ha gyarapodnak a javak, megszaporodnak fogyasztói is, de mi haszna van belőlük a gazdának, hacsak nem az, hogy nézheti szemével?

Mikor megszaporodik a jószág, megszaporodnak annak megemésztői is; mi haszna van azért benne urának, hanem hogy csak reá néz szemeivel?

When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?

Când se înmulţesc bunătăţile, se înmulţesc şi cei ce le mănâncă; şi ce folos mai are din ele stăpânul lor decât că le vede cu ochii?

When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?

Édes az álom a munkásnak, akár sokat, akár keveset eszik. A gazdagot pedig bővelkedése nem hagyja aludni.

Édes az álom a munkásnak, akár sokat, akár keveset egyék; a gazdagnak pedig bővölködése nem hagyja őt aludni.

The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

Dulce este somnul lucrătorului, fie că a mâncat mult, fie că a mâncat puţin; dar pe cel bogat nu-l lasă îmbuibarea să doarmă.

Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.

Van egy szörnyű dolog, amelyet láttam a nap alatt: a tulajdonosa vesztére tartott gazdagság.

Van gonosz nyavalya, a melyet láttam a nap alatt: az ő urának veszedelmére tartott gazdagság;

There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

Este un mare rău pe care l-am văzut sub soare: avuţii păstrate spre nefericirea stăpânului lor.

There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt,

Az ilyen gazdagság elveszhet egy szerencsétlenség miatt, és ha fia születik neki, nem marad semmi annak kezében.

Ugyanis az a gazdagság elvész valami szerencsétlen eset miatt, és ha fia született néki, annak kezében nem lesz semmi.

But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.

Dacă se pierd aceste bogăţii prin vreo întâmplare nenorocită, şi el are un fiu, fiului nu-i rămâne nimic în mâini.

and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand.

Ahogyan mezítelenül jött ki anyja méhéből, mezítelenül megy el, úgy, ahogy jött. Semmi olyat nem kap munkájáért, amit kezében elvihetne.

A mint kijött az ő anyjának méhéből, mezítelen megy ismét el, a mint jött vala: és semmit nem vesz el munkájáért, a mit kezében elvinne.

As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.

Cum a ieşit de gol din pântecele mamei sale, din care a venit, aşa se întoarce şi nu poate să ia nimic în mână din toată osteneala lui.

As he came from his mother’s womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand.

Ez is szörnyű dolog, hogy úgy megy el, ahogy jött. Mi haszna van abban, hogy a szélnek dolgozott?

Annakokáért ez is gonosz nyavalya, hogy a mint jött, a képen megy el. Mi haszna van néki abban, hogy a szélnek munkálkodott?

And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?

Şi acesta este un mare rău, anume că se duce cum venise; şi ce folos are el că s-a trudit în vânt?

This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind?

És hogy egész életében sötétben eszik, sok bosszúsággal, keserűséggel és búsulással?

És hogy az ő teljes életében a setétben evett, sokszori haraggal, keserűséggel és búsulással?

All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

Ba încă, toată viaţa lui a mai trebuit să mănânce cu necaz şi a avut multă durere, grijă şi supărare.

Moreover, all his days he eats in darkness in much vexation and sickness and anger.

Íme, azt láttam, hogy az a jó és szép, ha az ember eszik és iszik, és jól él minden munkájából, amivel fáradozott a nap alatt élete minden napján, amelyet Isten adott neki, mert ez az ő osztályrésze.

Ez azért a jó, a melyet én láttam, hogy szép dolog enni és inni, és jól élni minden ő munkájából, a melylyel fárasztotta magát a nap alatt, az ő élete napjainak száma szerint, a melyeket adott néki az Isten; mert ez az ő része.

Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.

Iată ce am văzut: este bine şi frumos ca omul să mănânce şi să bea, şi să trăiască bine în mijlocul muncii lui cu care se trudeşte sub soare, în toate zilele vieţii lui pe care i le-a dat Dumnezeu; căci aceasta este partea lui.

Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.

Akinek Isten gazdagságot és kincseket adott, és megengedte, hogy elvegye részét, élvezze azt, és örvendezzen munkájának: ez Isten ajándéka!

És a mely embernek adott Isten gazdagságot és kincseket, és a kinek megengedte, hogy egyék abból és az ő részét elvegye, és örvendezzen az ő munkájának: ez az Istennek ajándéka!

Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.

Dar, dacă a dat Dumnezeu cuiva avere şi bogăţii şi i-a îngăduit să mănânce din ele, să-şi ia partea lui din ele şi să se bucure în mijlocul muncii lui, acesta este un dar de la Dumnezeu.

Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.

Nem foglalkozik sokat az ilyen élete napjainak a számával, mert Isten örömmel tölti be szívét.

Mert nem sokat emlékezik meg [az ilyen] az ő élete napjainak [számáról,] mivelhogy az ő szívének örömét az Isten kedveli.

For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.

Căci nu se mai gândeşte mult la scurtimea zilelor vieţii lui, de vreme ce Dumnezeu îi umple inima de bucurie.

For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart.
