Igaz beszéd ez: ha valaki püspökségre törekszik, jó dolgot kíván.

Igaz ez a beszéd: Ha valaki püspökséget kiván, jó dolgot kíván.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

Adevărat este cuvântul acesta: „Dacă râvneşte cineva să fie episcop, doreşte un lucru bun.”

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.

Szükséges azért, hogy a püspök feddhetetlen legyen, egyfeleségű férfi, józan, mértékletes, tiszteletre méltó, vendégszerető, a tanításra alkalmas,

Szükséges annakokáért, hogy a püspök feddhetetlen legyen, egy feleségű férfiú, józan, mértékletes illedelmes, vendégszerető, a tanításra alkalmatos;

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Dar trebuie ca episcopul să fie fără prihană, bărbatul unei singure neveste, cumpătat, înţelept, vrednic de cinste, primitor de oaspeţi, în stare să înveţe pe alţii.

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

nem részeges, nem kötekedő, hanem megértő, viszálykodást kerülő, nem pénzsóvár,

Nem borozó, nem verekedő, nem rút nyereségre vágyó; hanem szelíd, versengéstől ment, nem pénzsóvárgó;

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

Să nu fie nici beţiv, nici bătăuş, nici doritor de câştig mârşav, ci să fie blând, nu gâlcevitor, nu iubitor de bani;

not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

să-şi chivernisească bine casa şi să-şi ţină copiii în supunere cu toată cuviinţa.

He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,

Mert ha valaki a saját házát nem tudja igazgatni, hogyan visel gondot az Isten egyházára?

(Mert ha valaki az ő tulajdon házát nem tudja igazgatni, mimódon visel gondot az Isten egyházára?)

(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

Căci, dacă cineva nu ştie să-şi cârmuiască bine casa lui, cum va îngriji de Biserica lui Dumnezeu?

for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?

Ne legyen újonnan megtért ember, nehogy felfuvalkodva magára vonja az ördögnek járó ítéletet.

Ne legyen új ember, nehogy felfuvalkodván, az ördög kárhozatába essék.

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Să nu fie întors la Dumnezeu de curând, ca nu cumva să se îngâmfe şi să cadă în osânda diavolului.

He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Szükséges pedig, hogy a kívül lévőknek is jó véleményük legyen róla, nehogy gyalázatba és az ördög csapdájába essék.

Szükséges pedig, hogy jó bizonysága is legyen a kívülvalóktól; hogy gyalázatba és az ördög tőribe ne essék.

Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Trebuie să aibă şi o bună mărturie din partea celor de afară, pentru ca să nu ajungă de ocară şi să cadă în cursa diavolului.

Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

Hasonlóképpen a diakónusok is tiszteletre méltók legyenek, nem kétszínűek, nem mértéktelen borivók, nem haszonlesők,

Hasonlóképpen a diakónusok tisztességesek legyenek, nem kétnyelvűek, nem sok borivásba merültek, nem rút nyereségre vágyók;

Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

Diaconii, de asemenea, trebuie să fie cinstiţi, nu cu două feţe, nu băutori de mult vin, nu doritori de câştig mârşav,

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.

De ezeket is először ki kell próbálni, és csak azután szolgáljanak, ha feddhetetlenek.

És ezek is először megpróbáltassanak, azután szolgáljanak, ha feddhetetlenek.

And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

Trebuie cercetaţi întâi, şi, numai dacă sunt fără prihană, să fie diaconi.

And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless.

Feleségük hasonlóképpen legyen tiszteletre méltó, nem gáncsoskodó, józan, mindenben hűséges.

Feleségeik hasonlóképen tisztességesek, nem patvarkodók, józanok, mindenben hívek legyenek.

Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

Femeile, de asemenea, trebuie să fie cinstite, neclevetitoare, cumpătate, credincioase în toate lucrurile.

Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things.

A diakónusok egyfeleségű férfiak legyenek, akik gyermekeiket és saját házukat jól igazgatják.

A diakónusok egy feleségű férfiak legyenek, a kik gyermekeiket és tulajdon házaikat jól igazgatják.

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Diaconii să fie bărbaţi ai unei singure neveste şi să ştie să-şi cârmuiască bine copiii şi casele lor.

Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.

Mert akik jól szolgálnak, szép előmenetelt és a Jézus Krisztusba vetett hitben nagy bizodalmat szereznek.

Mert a kik jól szolgálnak, szép tisztességet szereznek magoknak, és sok bizodalmat a Jézus Krisztusban való hitben.

For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Pentru că cei ce slujesc bine ca diaconi dobândesc un loc de cinste şi o mare îndrăzneală în credinţa care este în Hristos Isus.

For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:

Îţi scriu aceste lucruri cu nădejdea că voi veni în curând la tine.

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that,

De ha késnék, ezekből megtudod, hogyan kell az Isten házában forgolódnod, amely az élő Isten egyháza, az igazság oszlopa és alapja.

De ha késném, hogy tudd meg, mimódon kell forgolódni az Isten házában, mely az élő Istennek egyháza, az igazságnak oszlopa és erőssége.

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Dar, dacă voi zăbovi, să ştii cum trebuie să te porţi în Casa lui Dumnezeu, care este Biserica Dumnezeului celui Viu, Stâlpul şi Temelia adevărului.

if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.

Mert nyilvánvalóan nagy a kegyesség titka: aki megjelent testben, megigazult lélekben, látták az angyalok, hirdették a pogányok között, hittek benne a világon, felvitetett dicsőségben.

És minden versengés nélkül nagy a kegyességnek eme titka: Isten megjelent testben, megigazíttatott lélekben, megláttatott az angyaloktól, hirdettetett a pogányok közt, hittek benne a világon, felvitetett dicsőségbe.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Şi, fără îndoială, mare este taina evlaviei… „Cel ce a fost arătat în trup a fost dovedit neprihănit în Duhul, a fost văzut de îngeri, a fost propovăduit printre Neamuri, a fost crezut în lume, a fost înălţat în slavă.”

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
