Jaj a vérontó városnak! Mindenestül hazugsággal és erőszakkal teli, nem szűnik meg rabolni.

Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

Vai de cetatea vărsătoare de sânge, plină de minciună, plină de silnicie şi care nu încetează să se dedea la răpire!…

Woe to the bloody city, all full of lies and plunder— no end to the prey!

Ostorcsattogás, kerékzörgés zaja, dobogó lovak, robogó szekerek!

Ostor-csattogás, kerék-zörgés zaja; dobogó ló, robogó szekér;

The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

Auziţi pocnetul biciului, uruitul roţilor, tropăitul cailor şi durduitul carelor!

The crack of the whip, and rumble of the wheel, galloping horse and bounding chariot!

Törtető lovasok, kardok villogása, dárda villanása, sebesültek tömege, holtak sokasága! Száma sincs az elesetteknek, megbotlanak hulláikban.

The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

Se aruncă năvalnici călăreţii, scânteiază sabia, fulgeră suliţa… O mulţime de răniţi!… Grămezi de trupuri moarte!… Morţi fără număr!… Cei vii se împiedică de cei morţi!…

Horsemen charging, flashing sword and glittering spear, hosts of slain, heaps of corpses, dead bodies without end— they stumble over the bodies!

Mert sokat paráználkodott ez a szépséges parázna, a hitetés mesternője, aki népeket ejtett meg paráznaságával és nemzetségeket varázslásával.

A szép parázna sok paráznaságáért, a hitetésnek mesternője miatt, a ki népeket ejtett meg paráznaságával, és nemzetségeket bűbájaival:

Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

And all for the countless whorings of the prostitute, graceful and of deadly charms, who betrays nations with her whorings, and peoples with her charms.

Íme, rád török – ezt mondja a Seregek URa –, és ruhádat arcodra borítom, megmutatom mezítelenségedet a népeknek, gyalázatodat az országoknak!

Ímé, rád [török,] azt mondja a Seregek Ura, és orczádra fordítom ruhádnak alját, és népeknek mutatom meg meztelenségedet, és országoknak gyalázatodat.

Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

„Iată, am necaz pe tine, zice Domnul oştirilor, îţi voi ridica poalele peste cap ca să-ţi vadă neamurile goliciunea, şi împărăţiile, ruşinea.

Behold, I am against you, declares the LORD of hosts, and will lift up your skirts over your face; and I will make nations look at your nakedness and kingdoms at your shame.

Rútságot szórok rád, gyalázattal illetlek téged, és látványossággá teszlek.

Rútságot hányatok rád, és gyalázattal illetlek téged, és olyanná teszlek, mint a kit csudálnak.

And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

Voi azvârli cu murdării peste tine, te voi înjosi şi te voi face de ocară.

I will throw filth at you and treat you with contempt and make you a spectacle.

Mindenki, aki csak lát, menekül tőled, és azt mondja: Elpusztult Ninive! Ki bánkódik rajta? Hol keressek neked vigasztalókat?

És mind, a ki meglát, elmenekül tőled, és ezt mondja: Elpusztult Ninive! Ki bánkódik rajta? Hol keressek néked vígasztalókat?

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

Toţi cei ce te vor vedea vor fugi de tine şi vor zice: „Ninive este nimicită! Cine o va plânge? Unde să-ţi caut mângâietori?

And all who look at you will shrink from you and say, “Wasted is Nineveh; who will grieve for her?” Where shall I seek comforters for you?

Talán jobb vagy Nó-Ámónnál, amely a Nílusnál fekszik, s vizek veszik körül? Tenger a fedezéke, tenger a védőfala.

Avagy jobb vagy-é Nó-Amonnál, a mely a folyamoknál fekszik, vizek veszik körül; a melynek tenger a sáncza, tenger a kőfala?

Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

Eşti tu mai bună decât No-Amon, cetatea care şedea între râuri, înconjurată de ape, având ca zid de apărare marea, ca ziduri marea?

Are you better than Thebes that sat by the Nile, with water around her, her rampart a sea, and water her wall?

Kús volt az erőssége, meg Egyiptom, végtelenül erős volt, Pút és Líbia is segítette.

Kús volt erőssége meg Égyiptom, és száma sem volt [annak.] Puth és Libia is segítőid voltak;

Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

Etiopia şi egiptenii fără număr erau tăria ei, Put şi libienii erau ajutoarele ei.

Cush was her strength; Egypt too, and that without limit; Put and the Libyans were her helpers.

De végül számkivetésbe, fogságba jutott. Falhoz verték kisdedeit minden utcasarkon, főembereire sorsot vetettek, és nagyjait mind bilincsbe verték.

Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

Şi totuşi a trebuit să plece şi ea în surghiun, s-a dus în robie; şi pruncii ei au fost zdrobiţi în toate colţurile uliţelor; au aruncat sorţul asupra fruntaşilor ei, şi toţi mai marii ei au fost aruncaţi în lanţuri.

Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity; her infants were dashed in pieces at the head of every street; for her honored men lots were cast, and all her great men were bound in chains.

Te is lerészegedsz, elfeledett leszel, te is menedéket keresel majd az ellenség elől.

Te is megrészegedel, elfeledtté leszel; te is keresel majd menedéket a gyűlölködő elől.

Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

Şi tu te vei îmbăta, te vei ascunde; şi tu vei căuta un loc de adăpost împotriva vrăjmaşului!

You also will be drunken; you will go into hiding; you will seek a refuge from the enemy.

All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

All your fortresses are like fig trees with first-ripe figs— if shaken they fall into the mouth of the eater.

Íme, a te hadi néped asszonynép, országod kapui teljesen kitárulnak ellenségeidnek. Záraidat tűz pusztítja el!

Ímé, a te néped asszonynép te benned, földednek kapui tárva kitárulnak gyűlölőidnek, tűz emészti meg záraidat!

Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

Iată, poporul tău este ca femeile în mijlocul tău; porţile ţării tale se deschid înaintea vrăjmaşilor tăi; focul îţi mistuie zăvoarele!

Behold, your troops are women in your midst. The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies; fire has devoured your bars.

Gyűjts magadnak vizet az ostrom idejére, javítsd ki erődítményeidet! Döngöld a sarat, taposd az agyagot, ragadd meg a téglavetőt!

Meríts magadnak ostromhoz való vizet, javítsd erősségeidet; menj be a sárba, taposd az agyagot, javítsd a tégla-vetőt!

Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

Scoate-ţi apă pentru împresurare! Drege-ţi întăriturile! Calcă pământul, frământă lutul şi găteşte cuptorul de cărămidă!

Draw water for the siege; strengthen your forts; go into the clay; tread the mortar; take hold of the brick mold!

Bizony tűz pusztít el, fegyver irt ki téged, megemészt, mint a sáska, sokasodjál bár, mint a sáska, szaporodjál bár, mint a szöcske.

Legott tűz emészt meg téged, fegyver irt ki téged, megemészt, mint a szöcske; szaporodjál bár, mint a szöcske, szaporodjál bár mint a sáska!

There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

Acolo te va mânca focul, te va nimici sabia cu desăvârşire, te va mistui ca nişte lăcuste, căci te-ai înmulţit ca forfecarul, te-ai îngrămădit ca lăcustele!

There will the fire devour you; the sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the locust. Multiply yourselves like the locust; multiply like the grasshopper!

Ha kereskedőid többen lennének is, mint az ég csillagai, levedlik a sáska, és elrepül.

Többen voltak kalmáraid, mint az égnek csillagai: a szöcske csapong és elrepül!

Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and fleeth away.

Negustorii tăi sunt mai mulţi decât stelele cerului, s-au îngrămădit ca puii de lăcustă care îşi întind aripile şi zboară.

You increased your merchants more than the stars of the heavens. The locust spreads its wings and flies away.

Fejedelmeid annyian vannak, mint a sáska, vezéreid, mint a tücsökraj, amely hideg időben a kőfalakon tanyázik, napkeltekor pedig elrepül, azt sem tudni, hol volt a helye.

Fejedelmeid mint a sáska, vezéreid mint a tücsök-raj; hideg időkben gyepűkben tanyáz, napkeletkor pedig elrepül, és helye sem tudható meg, hol volt.

Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

Voievozii tăi sunt ca lăcustele, mai marii tăi ca o ceată de lăcuste care tăbărăsc în dumbrăvi pe răcoarea zilei: când răsare soarele, zboară, şi nu se mai cunoaşte locul unde erau.

Your princes are like grasshoppers, your scribes like clouds of locusts settling on the fences in a day of cold— when the sun rises, they fly away; no one knows where they are.

Szunnyadoznak pásztoraid, Asszíria királya, fekszenek előkelőid. Szétszéledt néped a hegyeken, és nincs, aki összegyűjtse.

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

În timp ce păstorii tăi dorm, împărate al Asiriei, şi vitejii tăi se odihnesc, poporul tău este risipit pe munţi, şi nimeni nu-l mai strânge.

Your shepherds are asleep, O king of Assyria; your nobles slumber. Your people are scattered on the mountains with none to gather them.

Nincs enyhülés a sebedre, gyógyíthatatlan a nyavalyád. Akik híredet hallják, mind tapsolnak fölötted, mert van-e, akin nem gázolt át szüntelen gonoszságod?

Nincs enyhítés a te sebedre, gyógyíthatatlan a te nyavalyád. A kik híredet hallják, mind tapsolnak feletted, mert kire nem hatott volna ki a te gonoszságod soha?

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Rana ta nu se alină prin nimic, rana ta este fără leac! Toţi cei ce vor auzi de tine vor bate din palme, căci cine este acela pe care să nu-l fi atins răutatea ta?”

There is no easing your hurt; your wound is grievous. All who hear the news about you clap their hands over you. For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil?
