Szeretteim, mivelhogy minden igyekezettel azon vagyok, hogy írjak nektek a közös üdvösségről, szükségesnek tartottam buzdítóan írni, hogy tusakodjatok a hitért, amely egyszer s mindenkorra a szenteknek adatott.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Preaiubiţilor, pe când căutam cu tot dinadinsul să vă scriu despre mântuirea noastră de obşte, m-am văzut silit să vă scriu ca să vă îndemn să luptaţi pentru credinţa care a fost dată sfinţilor o dată pentru totdeauna.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

Mert belopódzott közétek néhány ember, akiknek már régóta meg van írva az ítélete. Istentelenek, akik a mi Istenünk kegyelmét kicsapongásra fordítják, és az egyedüli Urat, a mi Urunkat, Jézus Krisztust megtagadják.

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.

These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted;

to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”

Ezek azok, akik szakadásokat támasztanak, érzékiek, akikben nincs meg a Lélek.

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Ei sunt aceia care dau naştere la dezbinări, oameni supuşi poftelor firii, care n-au Duhul.

It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.

Ti pedig, szeretteim, épüljetek szentséges hitetekben, imádkozzatok a Szentlélek által,

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Dar voi, preaiubiţilor, zidiţi-vă sufleteşte pe credinţa voastră preasfântă, rugaţi-vă prin Duhul Sfânt,

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Könyörüljetek azokon, akik kételkednek,

És könyörüljetek némelyeken, megkülönböztetvén őket.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Mustraţi pe cei ce se despart de voi;

And have mercy on those who doubt;

Annak pedig, aki megőrizhet titeket a botlástól, és dicsősége elé állíthat feddhetetlenségben, ujjongó örömmel,

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,

az egyetlen Istennek, a mi Üdvözítőnknek, a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus által dicsőség, fenség, erő és hatalom mostantól fogva mindörökké. Ámen.

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
