Szeretett barátom, kívánom, hogy mindenben jól legyen dolgod, és légy egészséges, mint ahogy jó dolga van lelkednek.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Preaiubitule, doresc ca toate lucrurile tale să-ţi meargă bine, şi sănătatea ta să sporească tot aşa cum sporeşte sufletul tău.

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

A fost o mare bucurie pentru mine când au venit fraţii şi au mărturisit că eşti credincios adevărului şi că umbli în adevăr.

For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth.

Szeretett barátom, hűségesen jársz el mindenben, amit a testvérekért és az idegenekért teszel,

Szeretett [barátom,] híven cselekszel mindenben, a mit az atyafiakért, és pedig az idegenekért teszel,

Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

Preaiubitule, tu lucrezi cu credincioşie în tot ce faci pentru fraţi şi pentru străini totodată.

Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are,

akik bizonyságot is tettek szeretetedről a gyülekezet előtt. Jól teszed, ha Istenhez méltóan indítod őket útjukra,

A kik bizonyságot tettek a te szeretetedről a gyülekezet előtt; a kiket jól teszed, ha Istenhez méltóan bocsátasz útjokra.

Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

Ei au mărturisit despre dragostea ta înaintea bisericii. Vei face bine să îngrijeşti de călătoria lor, într-un chip vrednic de Dumnezeu;

who testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God.

Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

căci au plecat pentru dragostea Numelui Lui, fără să primească ceva de la neamuri.

For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.

Mert tartozunk felkarolni az ilyeneket, hogy munkatársaikká lehessünk az igazságban.

We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

Este datoria noastră, dar, să primim bine pe astfel de oameni, ca să lucrăm împreună cu adevărul.

Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

Am scris ceva bisericii, dar Diotref, căruia îi place să aibă întâietatea între ei, nu vrea să ştie de noi.

I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority.

Ezért ha odamegyek, emlékezetébe idézem azokat a dolgokat, amelyeket művel, hogy gonosz szavakkal áskálódik ellenünk, sőt még ezzel sem elégedve meg maga sem fogadja be a testvéreket, és akik ezt megtennék, azokat ebben megakadályozza és a gyülekezetből kiveti.

Ezért, ha odamegyek, felemlítem az ő dolgait, a melyeket cselekszik, gonosz szavakkal csácsogván ellenünk; sőt nem elégedvén meg ezzel, maga sem fogadja be az atyafiakat, és a kik ezt akarnák, azokat is akadályozza, és az egyházból kiveti.

Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

De aceea, când voi veni, îi voi aduce aminte de faptele pe care le face, căci ne cleveteşte cu vorbe rele. Nu se mulţumeşte cu atât; dar nici el nu primeşte pe fraţi şi împiedică şi pe cei ce voiesc să-i primească şi-i dă afară din biserică.

So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.

Szeretett barátom, ne a rosszat kövesd, hanem a jót. Aki jót cselekszik, az Istentől van, aki pedig rosszat cselekszik, nem látta Istent.

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Preaiubitule, nu urma răul, ci binele. Cine face binele este din Dumnezeu; cine face răul n-a văzut pe Dumnezeu.

Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

Toţi, chiar şi Adevărul, mărturisesc bine despre Dimitrie; şi noi mărturisim despre el; şi ştii că mărturisirea noastră este adevărată.

Demetrius has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself. We also add our testimony, and you know that our testimony is true.

I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

Aş avea să-ţi spun multe lucruri, dar nu voiesc să ţi le scriu cu cerneală şi condei.

I had much to write to you, but I would rather not write with pen and ink.

But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

Nădăjduiesc să te văd în curând, şi atunci vom vorbi gură către gură. Pacea să fie cu tine. Prietenii îţi trimit sănătate. Spune sănătate prietenilor, fiecăruia pe nume. Amin.
