Ez azonban nagyon nem tetszett Jónásnak, és megharagudott.

És igen rossznak látszék ez Jónás előtt, és megharaguvék.

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

Lucrul acesta n-a plăcut deloc lui Iona, şi s-a mâniat.

Így imádkozott az ÚRhoz: Ó, URam, hát nem ezt mondtam, amikor még otthon voltam? Azért siettem, hogy Tarsísba fussak, mert tudtam, hogy te kegyelmes és irgalmas Isten vagy, késedelmes a haragra, és nagy a kegyelmed, és a gonoszt is megbánod.

Könyörge azért az Úrhoz, és mondá: Kérlek, Uram! Avagy nem ez vala-é az én mondásom, mikor még az én hazámban valék? azért siettem, hogy Tarsisba futnék, mert tudtam, hogy te irgalmas és kegyelmes Isten vagy, nagy türelmű és nagy irgalmasságú és a gonosz miatt [is] bánkódó.

And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

S-a rugat Domnului şi a zis: „Ah! Doamne, nu este aceasta tocmai ce ziceam eu când eram încă în ţara mea? Tocmai lucrul acesta voiam să-l înlătur fugind la Tars. Căci ştiam că eşti un Dumnezeu milos şi plin de îndurare, îndelung răbdător şi bogat în bunătate, şi că Te căieşti de rău!

And he prayed to the LORD and said, “O LORD, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.

Most azért, URam, kérlek, vedd el az életemet, mert jobb meghalnom, mint élnem!

Most azért Uram, vedd el, kérlek, az én lelkemet én tőlem, mert jobb meghalnom, mintsem élnem!

Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

Acum, Doamne, ia-mi viaţa, căci vreau mai bine să mor decât să trăiesc!”

Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

Az ÚR pedig azt mondta: Vajon jogosan haragszol-e?

Az Úr pedig mondá: Avagy méltán haragszol-é?

Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?

Domnul a răspuns: „Bine faci tu de te mânii?”

And the LORD said, “Do you do well to be angry?”

Azután kiment Jónás a városból, és a várostól keletre leült. Csinált magának ott egy kunyhót, és odaült az árnyékába, hogy lássa, mi lesz a várossal.

Majd kiméne Jónás a városból, és üle a város keleti része felől, és csinála ott magának hajlékot, és üle az alatt az árnyékban, a míg megláthatná, mi lészen a városból?

So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

Şi Iona a ieşit din cetate şi s-a aşezat la răsărit de cetate. Acolo şi-a făcut un umbrar şi a stat sub el, până va vedea ce are să se întâmple cu cetatea.

Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city and made a booth for himself there. He sat under it in the shade, till he should see what would become of the city.

Az ÚR Isten pedig úgy rendelte, hogy egy bokor nőjön Jónás fölé, hogy árnyékot tartson a feje fölé, és megoltalmazza őt a hőség ártalmától. Jónás pedig nagyon örült a bokornak.

Az Úr Isten pedig egy tököt rendele, és felnöve az Jónás fölé, hogy árnyékot tartson feje fölött és megoltalmazza őt [a hévség] bántásától. És nagy örömmel örvendezék Jónás a tök miatt.

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut să crească un curcubete care s-a ridicat peste Iona ca să facă umbră capului lui şi să-l facă să-i treacă mânia. Iona s-a bucurat foarte mult de curcubetele acesta.

Now the LORD God appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to save him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the plant.

De másnap hajnalban egy férget rendelt Isten, és az megszúrta a bokrot, úgyhogy elszáradt.

De másnapra férget rendele az Isten hajnal-költekor, és megszúrá [az] a tököt, és elszárada.

But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

Dar a doua zi, la răsăritul soarelui, Dumnezeu a adus un vierme care a înţepat curcubetele, şi curcubetele s-a uscat.

But when dawn came up the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant, so that it withered.

Amikor a nap erősen sütött, tikkasztó keleti szelet rendelt Isten, és a nap rátűzött Jónás fejére, mire ő elbágyadt. A halálát kívánta, és azt mondta: Jobb meghalnom, mint élnem!

És lőn napköltekor, hogy tikkasztó keleti szelet rendele Isten, és a nap rátűzött a Jónás fejére, és ő elbágyada. Kiváná azért magának a halált, és monda: Jobb halnom, mint élnem!

And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

Când a răsărit soarele, Dumnezeu a făcut să sufle un vânt uscat de la răsărit, şi soarele a bătut peste capul lui Iona, şi Iona a leşinat. Atunci a dorit să moară şi a zis: „Mai bine să mor decât să trăiesc!”

When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint. And he asked that he might die and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”

Akkor Isten azt kérdezte Jónástól: Vajon méltán haragszol-e a ricinusbokor miatt? Ő azt mondta: Méltán haragszom, mindhalálig!

És monda az Isten Jónásnak: Avagy méltán haragszol-é a tök miatt? És monda: Méltán haragszom, mind halálig!

And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

Dar Dumnezeu a zis lui Iona: „Bine faci tu de te mânii din pricina curcubetelui?” El a răspuns: „Da, bine fac că mă mânii până la moarte!”

But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”

Az ÚR pedig azt mondta: Te szánod a bokrot, amelyért nem te fáradtál, és amelyet nem te neveltél, amely egy éjjel felnövekedett, és egy másik éjjel elpusztult,

Az Úr pedig monda: Te szánod a tököt, a melyért nem fáradtál és [a melyet] nem neveltél, a mely egy éjjel támadt és más éjjel elveszett:

Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

Atunci şi Domnul a zis: „Ţie îţi este milă de curcubetele acesta, care nu te-a costat nicio trudă şi pe care nu tu l-ai făcut să crească, ci într-o noapte s-a născut şi într-o noapte a pierit.

And the LORD said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night.

és én ne szánjam Ninivét, a nagy várost, amelyben több mint tizenkétszer tízezer ember van, akik nem tudnak különbséget tenni a jobb és a bal kezük között? És sok ott a jószág is!

Én pedig ne szánjam Ninivét, a nagy várost, a melyben több van tizenkétszer tízezer embernél, a kik nem tudnak különbséget tenni jobb- és balkezük között, és barom is sok van?!

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more then sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

Şi Mie să nu-Mi fie milă de Ninive, cetatea cea mare, în care se află mai mult de o sută douăzeci de mii de oameni care nu ştiu să deosebească dreapta de stânga lor, afară de o mulţime de vite!”

And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”
